We are heading to the parks next month (have been going for years) and people we know are also going (the same time). One of them received a pin code in the mail and used it for everyone in their party, even though they are staying in 3 different rooms (room 1 which the pin code person is in has 5 people, room 2 has 5 people, and room 3 has 4 people (including some children in the rooms).

I am not sure how all three rooms were able to use the same pin code to get free dining. I thought the person had to be staying in the room with you.

We inquired to them about this and they said Disney charged them $50 because they already had a package booked (which I have never heard Disney doing before) and that because they are all linked together they could all use the code.

What are your thoughts on this? If this was true, you would think they would share the code so we could also use it.

*we all had the Stay Play Dine package booked*

You are allowed to use it on up to 3 rooms as long as everyone in the rooms is linked together. So yes they were able to do it. They charged them the $50 most likely because they changed after the 45 day mark.

Exactly this. People have been able to book a maximum of 3 rooms with a single PIN as long as I can remember. It is not a new thing. And they were charged the change fee because of the close check-in date. Usually, if a change is made causing the price of your trip to increase, they will wave the fee, but if your price decreases, which is likely what happened by using the PIN, then they can impose the $50 fee.

Your friends have already booked the maximum number of rooms with the PIN. They cannot use it for your room, unfortunately.

Thanks for the replies. We were actually able to use their code on our room as well :)

We saved roughly $168 (because we have the insurance) which is not a lot but still a savings :)

So they were able to book a 4th room with their PIN? :confused3 I have never heard of that before. Of course, it could be that one of the other groups in their party also had a PIN on their account. There seem to be a ton of people who received the Feb/March free dining PIN.

Congrats, OP! Have a great trip! :thumbsup2

We used the code they had and called Disney to see if we could get it applied to our room (we are all going together) and it seemed to work :)
