I've heard some talk about the %-off resort rooms pin code that's going on currently. I understand that you have to have recieved either a post card OR e-mail for this. Which I happed to get:thumbsup2 BUT I'm not sure how it works. We were planning on going through a TA to book our package (MYW)...anyhow is the discount something my TA can use with our package or is this something I'll need to purchase on my own? And is getting packages rather than getting everything on their own (room, tickets, DDP) a better way to go? Were planning a trip in Sept of this year. I was hoping they'd offer the Free DDP agian...BUT if I take advantage of the % off code I wouldn't be able to get the DDP free (if offered) correct?

Oh...another thing we were planning on booking a value resort...but would it be a better value to book a mod or higher resort with the % instead? I'm just figureing in the cost of the DDP and the % off savings... The way I see it is..."IF" they do offer the DDP for free...we'd be WAY ahead getting that deal instead of just saving the % off the room.

Any help would be great. I'm new to the whole WDW thing. This will only be our second trip there (the first one was in 2005 and for only 3 nights.) so I've got a TON of questions.

you need to go to the codes and rates forum noted at the top of this page and you will get more information than you ever wanted:thumbsup2

Well, I will try to help :)

Yes, a TA should be able to get you your rate with your code but why use them? I would book directly with Disney and cut out the middleman (with this code.) If a better promo comes out you can call and rebook then. You would have to give up the % off promo to get free dining (if offered).

You can't get the dining plan without booking a package. If you want the dining plan you will have to book a package. Your code should be able to applied to a package (the room portion only) as well. I personally LOVE the dining plan. We are a family of 4 (2A 2C and it is a big savings for us. Plus I like having it all prepaid and not even having to worry about the prices on the menu (big benefit for DH!)

As for resort, that is entirerly up to you. The only way you would be better off with the code than with free dining is if you book a deluxe resort (but this is really dependant on your party size.) I decided to go with a mod this time. I love my deluxes but this needed to be somewhat of a budget trip. WIth that said, I thought that the mod (POFQ) was worth a little more than what POP would have been. It is all about what you want.

I guess what I am trying to say is that you need to make a list of what things are most important for you and then call DIsney. have them price out a few options for you and go with the one that best suits your wants/needs.

Happy Planning :)

I just wanted to say that it's easy to play around on the WDW website and add/delete things to your package and choose different resorts to get pricing, etc. which can help make a decision. I'm one of those people who gets easily overwhelmed if I call in and ask for too many different options, but having it in front of me in writing is helpful. If you delete the dining from pricing a package ( and then free dining is offered) then obviously that would be your rate vs. the full price for the package. We booked Pop last winter when the bounce-back free dining offer for this fall was available, then I went to the site and priced out what other resorts would cost...how much to upgrade. I'm still undecided about an upgrade as to me, it's either value or deluxe. We're also spoiled from being DVC members. At any rate, you have to have the PIN or code attached to your name to get that type of discount or the code has to be a public one. Your t/a might be able to help sort that out by calling on your behalf. Good luck with your decision. Planning is part of the fun!---Kathy

I went to aaa with my code so that I could get the added aaa benefits, but I wouldnt have used a ta had there not been some extra incentive. AAA has a parking pass that allows you in a special lot that will often get you closer, a discount card (10% at world of disney), a story time with a character etc.

Yes there is a greater 'value' when you use this for higher value resorts but those resorts will still cost you more, so upgrading depends on your budget.
In value season, standard room, with tax

Value Rack=92.25 Discounted=55.35 Savings=36.90
Moderate Rack = 163.13 Discounted=97.88 Savings=65.25
Delux(AKL/WL) Rack= 241.88 Discounted=145.13 Savings=96.75

One thing to look into is if your offer says something to the effect of "limited number of rooms available" to use the code. Most codes have only a certain quantity of rooms available at that price, and if they all get booked, you will be out of luck. If you want to use that code, I would plan on booking it soon!

Thanks for all the ideas and suggestions. I do plan on booking ASAP to take advantage of the deal. ;)

Silly me...I got the e-mail code awhile back...and I was going to just disreguard it. Even though we are already planning a trip to the world.:confused3 Anywho... the more I read on the dis the more I started thinking about the code and deal and figured I'd better jump on it ASAP.
