I just made ADR's for Kona Cafe for 6:40pm the night we arrive in September. Someone had mentioned watching Wishes from the Poly beach afterwards. I was thinking of bringing my tripod and taking some pictures of the castle and fireworks but didn't know if it would be worth it because it would be relatively far away.

I have a camera with a 12x optical/2x digital zoom. Does anyone have any good pictures from the Poly beach and/or do you think it would be worth it to bring the tripod with me? I can't figure out how good the view is going to be!

Thanks in advance! :)

Karen, I would want closer to shoot Wishes from the Poly beach. I have 12x optical zoom too. When I went in June, I shot the Electrical Water Parade from the Poly beach. JMHO, but the Poly is too far away to get good fireworks unless you have a very good lens.

That's what I was afraid of- thanks for your input! I don't think I've ever seen the Electrical Water Parade- is it a good photo op?? :)

Karen, If you have the Canon Powershot S2 IS then you can video tape the Electrical Water Parade on the beach at the Poly. That's what I did. Every time you play it, it will take you back to your vacation! :goodvibes I just tried to download my video clip to photobucket but there seems to be a problem. If I get it downloaded I will share it here with you. The Electrical Water Parade takes place every night around 9 PM (I think). It is a MUST SEE!!!

Thanks TC! :thumbsup2

I have a Sony Cybershot H5 which I can also record on!! I'll be bringing my camera but probably leaving my tripod home at POR. Thanks for your replies!

It is VERY tough and you better have a serious lens. My 28-300 was no where near enough. I did take some good ones of CR from there.

Tripod and remote shutter release are a MUST!!!!!
