y brothers and I posed for a color pencil profile sketch in this area on Main Street. It is now part of the Emporium.

This was the cutest little area. I was sad when they got rid of it.

"Remember The Magic" parade for the 25th Anniversary. I think it was one of the best parades, (despite the fact that the song was a serious "ear worm").

Some pictures of the parade as it appeared in the first year or two. (Check out "Skinny Minnie"). The character costumes in general were very low tech compared to today.

I had an old Arcade pic from 1978 I think too! Wasn't it the Penny Arcade at some time?

Yes. If you look in the background of the picture in my post above, you can see the letters "PEN..." on the side of the sign. This sign read: "PENNY ARCADE".

An image of the full size map that I have framed and hanging in my den. It is undated, but it is from 1971-1972. I had it mounted and framed before it could fall apart from folding and unfolding a million times.

I remember those from a college spring break trip in 1980!! When I was posting the 1993 version, my husband was reminding me of those older ones. I was pretty sure you sat in the lap of the person behind you and their legs went along the side of the person in front of them. I didn't remember a seat belt.

Circa 1987, when I was 11 and my sister was 8, she definitely sat in my lap and then I think there was a t-bar type thing that came between our legs and the "t" portion would sit across her belly. And, honestly, I feel like we may have even had a third person there??? Does that even make sense? I feel like we had a complete stranger behind us because my mom was too scared to go on and we went in by ourselves.

That is right! I remember riding this back in 1978 and you sat almost in the person behind you's lap!!

I had a similiar version of this framed for my Mom. No Splash or BTMRR and there was a canoe ride back in that area. It's kind of beat up but we also saved it and framed it. (I think it's from 1976 or so)

Here is what I found on the history of the vehicles....

Space Mountain has not seen many major changes over the years. The first major change to the attraction was a replacement of the roller coaster cars in 1989. The original cars were very similar to those found on Disneyland's Matterhorn: two cars hooked together, each car having two seats that could each accommodate two passengers--the front rider seated in the lap of the rear rider--for a total of 8 passengers per train. Trains still had two single-file cars, each car had three seats that held only one passenger, for a total of 6 passengers per train.

Okay, I'm not sure if this pic is from 78 or 80 of my little (now 42 year old) brother! Does anyone remember this? This was back in the era when you still had the A through E tickets but somehow my dad got these special "all-inclusive" badges (I think through GM somehow) that allowed you to go on ALL the rides as many times as you wanted! Yes, commonplace now but it was special then. I'm assuming it was 1980 since 78 was my first trip and I remember using the actual tickets and tearing them off and being stuck going on the train or whatever because all we had were A tickets left so guessing this was the next trip.
