Pictures of things No Longer Seen at WDW

I know some are upset about some of the groups and entertainers we have recently lost from Epcot, but they all pale in comparison to by far the biggest lost entertainer of the world showcase:

I speak of course of Bubble Nicolas. There is nothing that can ignite a passion for exploration and learning about other cultures like a French Mime in a giant translucent sphere walking around and silently beckoning at children.

Awesome! A mime in a protective sphere!
Love it!

This is the greatest thread ever!! So many memories! I may have missed it, but does anyone have pics of Food Rocks? I keep telling my husband about Food Rapper.

I'm going to look around and see if I can find any pictures from Alien Encounter. Hands down, best experience ever! I can see why Disney changed it (it would have fit better into US-RTM) but I absolutely hate the Stitch thing they've got there now. I remember the first time we went in after it had changed from Alien Encounter, and I was sooo disappointed. I haven't been in there since.

The screams are the reason it was changed (per CM in 2004 trip-we rode it a short time before it was closed)-despite the multiple warning signs everywhere, CM warnings etc they got too many complaints about the ride. We have the actual blueprints from Mission to Mars around here somewhere-hubs project with his group on his college program was to redesign the ride (they came up with an alien concept)-in 1991...back then you presented your project to actual Disney bigwigs/Imagineers.

Welcome to the DISboards!

Glad you enjoyed the thread. Hope you also find other threads helpful and fun.

Lots of folks have been working hard sharing their pictures and memories with us all. Thanks to them all.

If Food Rocks is the same as the Kitchen Kabaret check post #143. There are also others.

Stitch is LAME compared to Alien Encounter!!! Fortunately as a kid, i was forewarned by a friend about AE before i went in. I even remember walking through the pre-show thinking, what's so scary about this? once we got in, i remember the breathing right behind your neck and all that. i loved it!!!! definitely scary, but it was great!! i wish they'd bring it back!!!!

I hope they'll someday bring it back, too. It was a great experience. And the Stitch ride pales in comparison. I mean, where else can you get to see Ed Rooney get what he has coming to him?

Maybe they'll bring it to MGM when they start their expansions. Or, I could even see a variation of this being built in the (gulp) Avatar-Land (blechhhh) expansion at Animal Kingdom. Yuck, I feel so dirty now.

As for the rest of the pics on this thread, I am loving them. I keep looking for my mop-top 10 yr old self. The things I really miss from my youth are the gondola rides over MK and River Country. The thing I miss most from my 20's is Pleasure Island :thumbsup2 ;) :drinking1

I have really enjoyed going back through memory lane through 75 pages of wonderful nostalgia. Thank you everyone for posting!!

How do I post pictures?? I enjoyed this thread so much that I just registered so I can share something special, but I can't see how to add an attachment...

After looking at all of the memories, there is one thing that I don't think anyone else has posted...

Remember Disney Dollars?? They could be used as 'cash' at any Disney property. Even the Disney Stores used to accept them. You could exchange your money for them, and use them while you were in the parks. I have had this one since around 1988 (makes me feel old to think about it).

I wonder what would happen if I tried to use it at WDW today? Rest assured, this one won't ever be spent. It went right back into my safe after taking the pictures! :)

"Would you like to buy some Itchy & Scratchy money? It's just like regular money, but, you know, fun."
"Well, if it's fun...I'll take 1100 dollars worth."

You can still buy and use Disney Dollars at WDW. They just aren't available at the Disney Stores anymore.

Wow. I had NO idea these were still available. We go to Disney World every year, and I never noticed them being utilized. But now that I know, I will be sure to have my kids start collecting them!

I got a photobucket account and drop my pictures in there. You can use their edit to resize, touch up, crop, etc. (It's free). Then when you get your picture ready, just click on the picture and the share links will appear. I use the 9IMG) link. Click on it, and the URL is immediately copied, and just paste it in the reply box.
