Well, let me tell you about "life doesn't get any better than this". I don't do trip reports but maybe this could be considered a mini one.
We (DH& I) went to the World with my God daughter (Niece) and her husband (just home from Iraq), their 3 children, my sister (Jenn's Mom) and my mom, the kidlets MeMom. I have been to Disney many times in the last 10 years. I own DVC, I am an avid pin collector and do many of the pin events at WDW. I have gone with my nephews when they were 9 and older. I have never done Disney with young children. Dh was brought along to take pictures (he doesn't like Disney) and push my Mom (I have a bad back and use an ECV in the parks. Well this was the best trip ever. we spent an hour playing in the water near Airel's autograph signing place. It was one of the most fun hours I ever spent at Disney. THe kidlets loved it. One little boy decided he didn't need clothes and stripped down to his birthday suit.
Daddy was horrified and came in and saved the day.
My great nieces (only 4) had their meltdowns. My niece (who has to be one of the greatest mom's ever) did so well with the meltdowns. She held the crying child in her arms, let them cry for a while and then gave the choices (in a quiet, non threatening way). Shall we stay at the park and go do such and so or should we go back to the room so you can cry? Well the crying stopped everytime. When they were getting tuckered out, She decided that it was time to call it a day as she didn't want to inflict cranky, crying children on the world. What a good Mama she is.
My mother was in heaven seeing her great grandchildren having a good time. My sister had a great time also. Below is a small sampling of the shirts we wore. I made us shirts for everyday. DH doesn't wear my home made shirts, Bryan (nephew home from Iraq) wore a few of them. Everyone else wore one every day. My mom can't lift her arms so I bought tshirts from a manufacturer that has them snap in the back. However, they shrunk when i washed them and the transfer wore off.
All in all a good time was had by all. The girls loved their shirts and we got lots of compliments. thanks to all of the DISigners that made our trip so very, very special.
The family without husband. I am the one on your far left my sister is on the far right and Jenn & Bryan are in the middle. Mommy is sitting in the front.
Bryan, Jen and one of the twins.
Welcome Home Daddy, we missed you shirts
My family. As I said before, life doesn't get any better than this. I am so blessed.
Again, thank you DISigners for making my trip a little nicer.
