Does anyone have any pictures of the excursion to Eze? I am trying to get an idea of how hard it would be for my mom to walk up to the top. She has some knee trouble so she is a little concerned she won't be able to do it. Thanks in advance.

Hi Kell,

I have not yet been to Eze (will be going on the July 7th cruise) but have looked into this extensively and have been told over and over it is a lot of stairs and climbing. (If I'm wrong somehow...someone please correct me). We were going to do the Disney excursion but I read you can take the train for about 4 Euros from Villefranche to Eze-sur-Mer and then a bus to Eze for another euro or 2. I believe this is a very hilly area so it might be difficult on her.

Anyone out there that's been - bring on the photos and the advice!

I have a couple photos, but they really don't show the climbing. I personally think this would be tough for someone with knee problems. The steps are not normal steps, they are longer and uneven and ramped upwards.

I lived in Antibes for a year and have been to Eze. It's a great place to visit but it's VERY difficult walking and climbing. Not only due to the steep hill, but some areas with uneven stones/sidewalks.

If you have a car, St. Paul de Vence has a lot of the same "attraction" in terms of art and the feeling of a mid-evil rampart, but not quite as hilly (it's a bit more inland).

FYI, if you Google both of these locations with the word "pictures" you'll get lots of hits!

I've got one shot that shows some of the steps at Eze but I don't know how to attach the pix. Send me a PM with your email or post instructions on how to post the picture.

Eze was great, but quite a challenge for those of us WITHOUT knee problems. The steps in Mike's photos are inside the village, but you have to "hike" up to the village before you walk around inside. Once inside, you walk/climb up and down the walkways.

Thank you for the pictures. It looks like there is no way my mother can climb those stairs. I guess she will have to look for something else to do. I'm so glad I asked. Thank you again.
