We are going on the Sept 10 Med cruise and I wondered what are the current Castaway and DVC gifts on those cruises. Any pictures would be great. We are trying to decide if we need to bring a beach bag or backpack for the pool and excursions. Thanks!

There are DVC gifts--but I don't know what they're giving away on the Mediterranean cruises. We got a bunch of stuff on our Alaskan cruise this August--we had a magnet placed on our door the first day, and we had a card in the room with a token to redeem at the DVC desk for baseball caps (ours were really nice, black or dark navy with sky blue highlights--they said it's the new design). We got lanyards by walking up to the desk the first day. We got 25th anniversary buttons at the DVC member celebration (and free mimosas/champagne/sparkling cider and bottled water). We got a rubbery bracelet that you can turn on to glow for Frozen night. And we got a copy of the print of Walt/Lilly that hangs in all the Wonder/Magic staterooms. From the member celebration, we also won a 1 gig flash drive (tossed randomly into the crowd) and a 60th anniversary Disneyland pen (from the raffle drawing.)

Don't forget that you can get 10% off a $50+ purchase in the shops onboard if you show your member card! There are other discounts too off photo packages and the spa (on port days?)

On the Fantasy in August I saw them giving out those blue drink holders that you stick in the sand. Not sure what other gifts they were handing out.

Is that the DVC gifts you're talking about?

If so, what was the CC gift? Same as usual?

Yes that was one DVC gift I saw them handing some people at the DVC desk. The CC Platinum gift was the burlap tote with two silver drink cups (I think you could put hot or cold in them but didn't unwrap them yet).

I love my silver cup. Sadly, when we got it, on the EBTA, it was fairly new, and we only got one. Along with a blue knapsack-type back pack. I've since read that they are giving 2 per room Yes, you can put hot or cold. They aren't true vacuum-insulated though, just double walled (just a little insulation). You can unscrew the interior portion from the outside plastic.

I have a thread on the DVC forum and someone just said they got the same stuff as us, plus tattoos for pirate night on their Mediterranean cruise last week.

Ok, I am confused. The Castaway gift someone posted on another thread was a yellow beach type back. Anyone have any idea what we will get on our Med cruise next week. This backpack could work nicely for excursions.

Different itineraries have different bags. The one I got was on the EBTA. The Caribbean cruises usually have a beach bag of some sort. There seems to be some randomness as to whether it's the "old" canvas bag (different color depending on Castaway Club level:

I hope not. I've had three of those bags and are my least favorite bag ever. I came home and got rid of them. I leave for a b2b in three weeks so will get two bags. I really hope that bag has been replaced.

We've been on 6 DCL cruises & I feel like I always miss out on the DVC giveaways.

I had researched what we could get as DVC members on a cruise and read about people getting things daily from the DVC desk (well, it wasn't quite daily, but there was plenty we could get--especially when you're used to getting nothing extra at Disney World!) We also took advantage of the 10% off of a $50 purchase in the shops on board!

DVC Member Event: At the DVC member event we got the 25th anniversary buttons, the flash drive, and I won the pen in a raffle--at the event we also got free champagne, mimosas, sparkling cider, and bottled water (which was great for us to take on excursions later on in the trip!)

Stateroom: There was a DVC magnet on our stateroom door on the first day, and we got a card from DVC in our room the first night with a token to redeem for hats at the DVC desk on deck 4.

DVC Desk: We picked up the lanyards at the DVC desk after lunch on embarkation day (great to have free lanyards on our first cruise!) We picked up the glow bracelets on Frozen day from the DVC desk. We redeemed the token from the card for the free hats at the DVC desk. Towards the end of trip we had a message on our room phone from DVC saying that we could get a copy of the picture of Walt and Lillian at the DVC desk as a thank you for talking about DVC to other people on the ship.

I wish there was some way that you got a choice - it could be a check box on your check-in or something. Because even when I go to the beach, I take a backpack - so that is infinitely more useful to me than a "beach bag" that they pretty much always stick the Bahamian or Caribbean itineraries with.

I actually asked if they still had the gold bags because I didn't like the burlap one. Told no. Went February 2016 = burlap, again in October 2016 = burlap. And leaving in a couple of weeks for my February cruises (b2b). I sure hope it's changed, because that burlap one will go right on ebay like the last 4. I used my ebay funds to buy me the black platinum bag, since I finally reached that level in October. I like the silver/gold/platinum bags best because they aren't too big. I'll post back when I return later in February in case no one has updated by then.

Not much, the market is flooded with them. I got about $10 for them.
