This may be a silly question, but if you have a DSLR camera (similar to the ones the photopass photographers use) will they still use yours to take pictures of you and your family in addition to using photopass?

Yep. I have a Canon Rebel and they had no problem using mine.

The only thing I disliked about it was that they didn't hold the shutter release halfway down to get it to focus in on us most of the time, so the majority of the pictures they took with it are unfocused. They were using DSLRs as well so I'm SURE they know how to properly focus a camera.

But some of the shots they took with mine were just fine. We're ordering the Photopass anyways.

They took a picture of us with DSLR everytime we took a photopass picture. They know it's not fool proff and pictures and photopass cards go missing all the time. I prefer to have it double LOL

Yes, but make sure your camera already has the right settings before handing it to the photographer. I usually shoot on manual and adjust for each picture. When I forgot to adjust the iris/shutter, they just snapped the picture, meaning the exposure was WAY off.

Ditto. And to add to that, if you have a prime lens on your camera 9/10 times they will get confused. I started switching lenses if I had a prime on it when we went to get our picture taken because most of them a) didn't know what "prime" meant and b) didn't know lenses exist without a zoom on them :lmao:

No fancy cameras, but yes - they actually offered to do both..:thumbsup2

Some people were last there in 2005, so their information is very "old".

We used photopass earlier this year and they were able to use our Nikon DSLR camera. None of our photos were out of focus.

What kind of Nikon do you have? We are debating between the 5100 and 90
