Wednesday, Oct. 14 pt 3
Looking back at our ADR calendar, our lunch at Whispering Canyon was at 1:55 – so I think it was probably 3:30 or later when we arrived at EPCOT.
After the horrible experience at Figment – we soldiered on. I really think it was close to 2 hours we lost in the Kodak area. Bleh.
I think we went to the Ice Cool area to get our fill of Beverly. I know we went to the restroom in futureworld. This is when I realized EPCOT lacked the themed bathrooms I enjoy. I think my DH and kids went on Soarin’. I did not ride this trip because of my fear of heights. I have ridden this ride a handful of times at DL. I LOVE it. But one of the last times I rode it, I made the mistake of looking down at the control area (something was going on and a CM used a pin light or something that attracted my attention down) and was surprised at how high up we really were. I am confident that I will ride Soarin’ again - I was just not up to it this trip.
As darkness settled in – we moved on World Showcase. We rode the boat ride in Mexico. I thought it was cute. We also took pictures of the kids in the big Sombreros.
I think they would have spent hours in this shop.
But it was time to move on. Norway here we come!
Now here is where the kids love of Norway began. When we passed Maelstrom – Grumpy asked me if it was a good ride. I kind of chuckled and said that it has its fans on the DIS. He asked me what that meant. I explained that some people really liked it. That it had a very loyal, rabid fan base. He kept trying to quiz me. I tried to explain that I really didn’t know exactly what the ride was.
There was no line and we were soon loaded into our Viking ship. It is a very different kind of ride. Grumpy and I liked it and Minnie and Simba LOVED it. I think we road three times in a row.
Of course we had to take pictures with the Viking gear.
This was EMH at EPCOT. If I recall correctly the food and wine booths closed at park closing. So when we needed to eat dinner they were not open. We ended up eating at the Mexican counter service place. It was okay.
The park closed at midnight. Somehow we closed down the park. This was supposed to be a restful day out to the parks – and we managed to park hop and close down an EMH park.
I do have to say – the riding Maelstrom over and over is where this trip finally began to turn around. Not that everything was perfect from that point forward – but thing got a whole lot better. We finally got our vacation grove on!
We took a bus back to POFQ and were soon off to bed.
Up Next: A fancy French dinner with a 1st and 3rd grader, will it work?
