Hi Kirk:wave: Congrats:D My guess is it's going to be a boy- i had the same ' looks like you've swallowed a basketball" when I was pregnant with both my sons. What a great dad and grandpa-to-be you are!

Nice pictures. I like the one with you and Winnie the Pooh and his friends, you fit right in :D . Good luck to your daughter on her pregnancy.

Kirk does seem to be handling this situation as best he can.
And yes I do hope DS doesnt get himself into any trouble - Im sure we all feel this way about our kids.
But I still say "16 is too young"

My sister had her first at 17 and no, it wasn't "THOUGHT OUT", but if you ask her would she do it all over again, she would tell you yes. 4 children later, she and her DH are VERY happy and her oldest has grown up to be a very beautiful and vibrant young lady. My sister also learned her lesson and "stopped" until she met and married her current husband. Very valuable lesson learned for her being pregnant at 17.
Perhaps, Kirk's daughter has some lessons to learn about being a young mother and she could only learn them at the age she is now. HE has a plan for all of us and NONE of us have the right to say anything about it.
Your daughter is beautiful KirK, best to all of you, and you keep up the fantastic work with your weight loss! :teeth:

She is growing and YOU are shrinking!!!

Both of you look great! I agree with the majority. You are a wonderful, understanding father. Keep up the good work. And God bless you all!

She's beautiful. You're going to be a wonderful grandpa.:D

everyone looks great!!

what's she having? boy? girl? names? she's got the healthy pregnant mom look about her...

best wishes to everyone!

Kirk - you are all positively glowing and looking great! Is that your DD's BF? If so, he's cute! :);)

I second the thought that we want lots and lots of photos. And I firmly believe that all of you will be the best parent/grandfather! :)

BTW, to the righteous - my Mom married my Dad when she was 17, he was 18 and on leave from the military. They didn't "have" to - but she had my brother when she was 18 - nine months later. That was 47.5 years ago. They are still together - and I'm their third and last child.

And I believe that Mary, the mother of Jesus was a teen when she gave birth to our Lord and Savior......

Best wishes to you all. She is so thin, just carrying all up front with the baby. She looks great. Have fun on your Disney trip.

Gee! I'm not getting notified of all your wonderful responses!

All, her name is Katrina and according to DD she is already showing a spunky personality in batting probing hands away from mom's belly:teeth: That's gotta be inherited from Grandpa!:teeth:

However, please don't take offense to this (or take offense if you're so inclined to), but I don't see why you needed to say Expecting "TEEN" DD in your title. There's nothing wrong with wanting to show everyone how beautiful your DD is, she's glowing actually :) but why make an issue of the fact she's a teen and pregnant? Maybe I am old fashioned, and I think your post is wonderful, but I just don't see the need to specifically point out the fact that your DD is a teen. (Yes I realize it's obvious from the pics that your daughter is young, but still....)
SeaSpray, To be honest I'm still in shock - my title was designed to hint at my emotion. Apparently you got my point. ;) No offense taken.

newholiday, we're all entitled to our opinions but in my book (and my DD's) there's only one option here and we're doing our best!

Just wanted to throw in my best wishes to you all! I hope you'll post more pictures when the baby is born!

I think that newholiday needs to remember that while she thinks that Kirk's beautiful daughter is too young for a child, newholiday can't get her hubby into big boy pants.

CONGRATS KIRK! Your daughter is beautiful, and I'm certain your grandchild will be, too :) Make sure to share pics of the little one! And you're looking fab yourself! :) :) :)

 LOL,that is the funniest thing I have read in awhile. But Oh so true.

I sure hope the Disney nursery is ready...not sure if she will make it until the end of March. She is radiant and beautiful. What a great Grandpa to have in this world! How many WDW trips can you get in before kindergarten? You have to make sure she loves the Mouse :)

But I still say "16 is too young"

You know, when presented with a situation where there's a very young mom, you have two options.

1 - Be supportive. Ask all the questions that normal moms get, like "How are you feeling?" or ""Is it a boy or a girl?" People never ask those questions, and treating a teen mom like she's just another normal pregnant woman is a kindness that goes a long way. Any love that you show can go a long way. Being supportive can even lead to giving the girl more confidence in her abilities to be the best mom she can be.

2 - Be judgmental, rub in the fact that she's young, and offer your high and mighty negative opinion on everything.

Something you need to learn is that pregnant young moms are just like anybody else. They made a bad choice, just as everyone else has in their life. The difference between you and her is that YOU can hide the consequences of your bad choices. She can't, and she is more brave than you can possibly know for deciding to go ahead and take care of her responsibilities. That alone tells me that she is going to be a fantastic mom.

You seriously need to think about your responses in a situation like this. Is she too young? Yeah. So was I, at 19. But your attitude is going to do NOTHING constructive.

According to my Grandmother (age 85), if we all waited until we were "ready" to have children- there wouldn't be any!

As for some of the "negative" responses, maybe their views are much different then ours, to each his own.:o I was 23 and sort of wished I was younger, when I started a Family. My DD waited till 22 to have her first, and her DD is Bi-racial. Ooops, hope I don't get flamed for that! My Granddaughter is quite beautiful at almost 4 months old.:o ;)

Kirk: I'm so glad you weren't offended at my comment. :) I just want to add, for the record, that I think you are 100% doing absolutely the RIGHT thing, in this situation. When you commented about this being the "only option", I wanted to say I agree, and that it's wonderful that your daughter did choose this option, as opposed to the other option. Your daughter and your future grandchild have much to be thankful and appreciative for, with you as their father/grandfather :)

Kirk,

That is one doubly blessed baby. To have a mom who is going to have her, and a grandpa who obviously is supporting her mom's decision.

I agree that sometimes life doesn't exactly turn out the way we plan, but what we do when those 'curve balls' come our way is what God is watching for.

Looking forward to seeing those 'three generation' pictures. Also, if your daughter is taking Lamaze, let her know that those breathing exersizes will help her through the shakes that happen post delivery. :)
