I'm a new poster here, so will appreciate your understanding for any improper usage of these boards. :)
We're taking our DGS (12), and DGD (14) to WDW in November. We're staying at the Poly and will have the DDP. They are both very picky eaters, and would choose counter-service for every meal, if the choice were left to them. Nana and PaPa, on the other hand, hope to enjoy some nice table-service meals during our trip. We have ADR's at Kona Cafe, Concourse Steakhouse, and Le Cellier. It's entirely possible that these kids will find nothing to their liking on those menus. I wouldn't expect them to be allowed to order from the kid's menu; but, I've read on these boards, as well as other boards, that Disney restaurants will often allow you to order meals not offered on the regular menu. My question: How likely will it be that these restaurants will allow the kids to order an "off the menu" adult entree, that we can pay cash for, and not use one of their TS meals from the dining plan?
TIA for your replies,
Ann

Have you had a peak at the menus? You can find them here:

Your childrens' ages make them adults on the dining plan, so they can order adult items. I'm a little unclear as to what you mean by paying for adult "off menu" entrees?

The menu is the same for DDP and non-DDP diners.

At any time, you can pay for a meal out of pocket and save the credit for a latter time/use during your stay.

By "off menu" I'm assuming you mean something like a grilled cheese sandwich. If the restaurant would make one for you there shouldn't be a problem with paying for that OOP and saving the TS credit for another meal. Since everyone is technically an adult you would be able to use those credits for anyone later on, or to visit a 2credit TS.

You can also ask for things "plain" or with different sides.

Like at Le Cellier - you can get them a plain steak with french fries if that would appeal to them.
