Picky Eaters, Sore Feet, Hurricanes...After 6 Yrs Nothing will get in our way!

So prior to our trip I was paranoid about the weather... Hurricane Isaac was predicted to hit Florida and I had the worst case senario planted in my head. We are lucky here in Ontario, Canada that we really dont see a lot of natural disasters so I didnt know what to expect. Thankfully some people on the Disboards calmed my nerves and I knew that in case of emergency Disney would know what to do :thumbsup2

So the big day arrived and thankfully Disney just got the tailend of the storm but boy oh boy I have NEVER in my life seen rain like that. The plan for the day had been Animal Kingdom but the backup plan was Epcot (apparently that was EVERYONES plan, as we would see when arriving @ the park). We would not let rain get in our way of having fun though so off we went!

Praise Ponchos! Amber, despite it pouring did not remove those sunglasses all day? Apparently it prevented water from going in her eyes?
DisneyWorld2012189_zpscabd7219.jpg

Initially my too cool dad did not want to wear his poncho... the second we stepped into Epcot his mind changed!

Since it was raining SO much we decided to start with Spaceship Earth. I had never been on this before, astonishing I know, so I didnt know what to expect. Everyone really liked it and had fun with the hands on activities afterwards.

Going for a race!
DisneyWorld2012196_zps914da0aa.jpg

Afterwards we decided to head over to The Land to ride... you guessed it! Oh look, we found more pressed pennies!

"ARIN" aka Soarin' - it was so busy in there. Crowds that we thankfully will not encounter again on our trip (we are not fans and dont handle big crowds well so no Christmas week Disney vacation for us).

DisneyWorld2012202_zpsac4e22c2.jpg

Again my mum decided to sit out this one. She doesnt like heights either :scared1: Good thing she chose this since we ended up row 1. I really liked Soarin' - the images were gorgeous, Jett thought it was fun but my dad and Amber did not enjoy. They were both really nervous about the height

After the ride we decided to grab an early lunch. My mum and I had been looking forward to Sunshine Seasons so clearly that was our choice. Amber and my dad decided to brave the elements and head over to Electric Umbrella for... surprise surprise chicken nuggets!

I adored Sunshine Seasons. Jett ordered the Kids Macaroni and Cheese (he said it was "awesome, way better than the stuff out of the box"), my mum ordered the Turkey and Monteray Jack with chips and Tiramisu, I ordered the Grilled Vegetable Sandwich with a Potato Salad (AMAZING) and Strawberry Shortcake.

DisneyWorld2012201_zpse3fe59cf.jpg

While we were eating we swore we heard someone calling "Hey... Jett" but looking around we didnt see anything at first. Then "Hey... Jett" got closer - we looked and there was Jett's friend from dance and her family. They were running to Soarin but we would run into them later on in Epcot (and get a picture)! We knew that they were going to be in Disney but hadnt made plans to meet up. They would be just one of 5 sets of people we knew that we just happened to run into.

All together.... Its a Small World AfterAll.... :wizard:

Emilie, I didn't know you'd started a TR. I am on board!!!! I am slow and usually get lost, but i'll be reading!

Hey! I have not updated in a really long time so may have lost all of my followers but you. Bear with me, life has just gotten in the way but will give it my best shot to keep this going. :thumbsup2

So I have returned and hoping to garner up some more followers! I already know what happened on our trip lol. Although this seems a good way to remember everything :thumbsup2

The afternoon of Day 3 seemed to bring a little reprive from the rain but man oh man did it get humid! Whew!

The afternoon brought us to the seas to visit with my favourite little fish and all his friends! The Seas.

First things first we headed to the Seas with Nemo and Friends... on our last trip this ride was not yet there so this was a must! The queue seemed never ending, thankfully there was not many people so we went staight though - when we went past later on the lineup was out the door.

DisneyWorld2012211_zps09313545.jpg

Unfortunately not a single picture I took during the ride turned out. My family seemed to really enjoy the ride, I didnt so much but I think that was due to my frustration trying to get a decent picture. :confused3

After visiting Nemo we went to the main area to see Turtle Talk with Crush. There was a little bit of a wait so Amber and Jett went to get their photo taken with Bruce! We love Bruce!

DisneyWorld2012215_zps20bc1619.jpg

Finally we were let into a holding area where we snagged a spot near the fish tank. Got some great shots (that is when I was not being bodychecked by a group of women trying to push their way past to get a picture).

Then we were let in to see Crush, again being bodychecked by the same group of women. Jett was actually pushed by said women's daughter - my mum then turned to mama bear and made the little girl appologize :rolleyes1
Everyone loved this show; these types of shows - interactive are my favourite in Disney, as you become right there in the action!

Look out Crush!
DisneyWorld2012229_zps7db140d9.jpg

After Turtle Talk we headed over to see Figment! I personally hadnt a clue who the little "dragon" was? But this began Amber's obsession... she loved him! We ended up spending a good 1/2 hour in the interactive room after the ride and then of course, after ending up in a gift shop, had to buy a figment stuffy. :cloud9: She was so happy to have him lol.

I made my own Figment...
DisneyWorld2012236_zpsaf13a285.jpg

We had a little bit of time until our reservation at Akershus so headed over to Ellen's Universe of Energy/Energy Adventure. This ride gets such negativity but we all enjoyed it. Jett is a big dinosaur fanatic... it was also a nice opportunity to take a seat and get out of the humidity. Amber (and my dad) started complaining that their feet were hurting so I think they needed this break!

DisneyWorld2012238_zps897fe661.jpg

When we finished we decided to ride Mission Space. None of us (other than fearless Jett) were sure about riding the intense version so Green we went. You can probably guess who sat this one out ;) I was surprised my dad wanted to ride it but on we went. After getting our jobs we headed into the capsule. It was fun but immediately after the ride Jett said that he really wanted to ride Orange. Of course my dad and Amber were against it (Green was intense enough for them) but I was iffy. I wanted to but that being said I dont do spinning well - the teacups make me nausious. There are also some really bad stories associated with Mission Space: Orange. Well... eventually he convinced me so onto the capsule we went. Jett was by far the smallest in line - mostly older kids and adults... a CM even asked if he was sure he wanted to ride. He was, his sister not so much  Well, I must say it wasnt too bad, I felt a little woozy but was fine after a couple of minutes. :thumbsup2

DisneyWorld2012239_zps230a8423.jpg

On our way to our reservations we saw a little hidden Mickey and had to snap a picture.

Akershus:

Continued in next post! Had too many pictures!

DisneyWorld2012248_zps6dbe9c1d.jpg

Now Akershus is not a meal we would typically eat but everyone had their choice of a restaurant and this was mine. We all started at the cold buffet, which I thought was really neat. We got our couple of pictures with Belle and then ordered.

Mum - Grilled Pork Tenderloin :thumbsup2
Jett - Pizza :yay:
Me - Catch of the Day - I believe it was cod :cloud9: (was very good)
Dad - Seared Herb Dusted Beef Tips :confused3 (was okay but not great)
Amber - Grilled Chicken from the Children's Menu... as you have learned Amber is a very selective eater and although she ordered it she wasnt going to eat it; my mum tried it and said it was really rubbery

This is how she felt about her chicken
DisneyWorld2012251_zpsba3ebdec.jpg

The waitress, lovely girl, kept trying to help; asking why Amber wasnt eating and if she could do something (she must have come over 3 times) and then each princess asked the same thing. I think Amber was overwhelmed and started to cry :sad1: Then Amber's favourite princess, Snow White, took her hand and left with her lol. She gave her a hug and brought her to the cold buffet and they picked out some food from there.

This is not the greatest picture but...
DisneyWorld2012256_zps7af63025.jpg

She told Amber she was picky (thats why she always cooked for the 7 Dwarfs - she didnt like the food that they made). She also came back later and told Amber to make sure she enjoyed dessert.

We then headed back to the Polynesian for a swim to end our day but snagged a couple of pictures before we left!

Hey thanks for checking in.... maybe it will be the kick in the butt I need to get to finishing this trip report. I seriously have just not had the time. But if I know I have at least one person following :thumbsup2

We didnt really either only at night when we were all settling. I thought it was really cute the storytime. During the day though I dont recall it going on once, even when we were all in the hotel room. It was actually great because everyone was talking about what they liked best, what to do next.

Snow White was incredibly, stayed in character but also talked to Amber realizing she was 12. My mum of course was tearing up ;)

Amber loved BBB but I heard some littler ones on the trip (passing by) that werent fans... too hot and itchy. Amber has always been a princess gal (from being a toddler; on her first trip she did BBB as Snow White and literally wore it most of our trip). This time she went for the more grown up look but kept her hair for a couple of days and still wears the skirt.

Ya the weird thing with v is she loved BBB! She didnt complain about the costume last year or this year she loved it all. She did ave a minor incident in July which is probably why but not enough to keep her away I wouldn't have thought. If we go again I'll let her do whatever hair style she wants. She may want the courtyard package. Of course I was hoping to do matching dresses and air styles with her American girl doll. Oh well we shall see.

So far no mention of another trip this summer despite some talk of it immediately following our trip last summer ( like the day we were picked up!)
My boss said well next summer I think we should fly right into Orlando and do Disney first and then you might like to fly home for some vacation time of your own....

I wish I'd gotten that on camera. :sad2:

I wanna go back to disney :sad2:

Oh ya we didn't even watch tv at night. It was get in the room and get to sleep ASAP!

I have an 8 yr old old who is a very picky eater. We normally have to go to restaurants we know she will eat at. I'm loving your trip repot! Can't wait to read more.

Welcome to the TR! I will try to get another post done this week. Glad there is someone out there in cyber space reading!

I have finally returned and am determined to finish this Trip Report by the end of March, that is the goal anyways.

So on Day 4 we finally made it to Animal Kingdom. None of us really remember too much of AK from our last trip other than Kilimanjaro Safaris and it being incredibly hot! Jett however was really looking forward as he is a big dinosaur fan!

We arrived about 1/2 hour before opening and it was clear the people were headed in one of 2 directions (EE OR Kilimanjaro Safaris). We decided we wanted to head to the latter before it got too hot as we heard the animals were more active in the AM.

The Safari was incredible! The animals were all very active and we were able to see most at close range. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and you could tell passionate about her work.

Thought I would share a few of my favourites.

After we finished with the Safaris we made our way over to Asia for EE and Kali River Rapids. Unfortunately Kali River Rapids was closed and was not anticipated to open in the near future so we decided to skip it. :sad1: We then decided to ride Expedition Everest. Amber is not a coaster gal so she was really nervous, we convinced her though. Myself, Amber and Jett rode the first time around and loved. What great theming and a good coaster. We decided to ride it again, although we didn't convince dad.

November2012325_zps28f53ec9.jpg

We decided we needed a break since it was really humid so we headed over to Nemo the Musical. What a great interpretation - I loved it.

November2012333_zps4093bdbf.jpg

After the show it was time for lunch. Restaurantsaurus was what we had decided - there are chicken nuggets there and if you have read the food review you know that this was a priority lol.
It was packed! The food was good although it took a long time to get our food since they completely mixed up our order.

November2012340_zpsb19efc42.jpg

We ate:
Mum - Chicken Breast Sub with Bruschetta w/ Fries and Chocolate Mouse
Dad - 1/3 Angus Bacon Cheeseburger w/ Fries and Chocolate Mouse
Me - Vegetable Subosaurus w/ Fries and Cheesecake (very strange and I wouldn't have again - the jelly on top was not pleasant)
Amber - Chicken Nuggets and Fries w/ Chocolate Mouse
Jett - Chicken Nuggets and Fries w/ Chocolate Mouse

Partway through lunch I noticed that it was pouring buckets outside so quickly rushed to cover the stroller... it took a little while to dry off.

After lunch we headed to Dinoland. Jett was about to explode with excitement!
Our first ride was Dinosaur and the whole family rode it. My mum was so excited about the ride but I don't think she anticipated it was so bumpy. Jett had an accident before we went on the ride, slipped and fell on his head. The cast member at the entrance very promptly got some ice and he was okay within a few minutes.

November2012363_zpsaa536e53.jpg

While Jett, my mum and I explored the Dino Dig site (he could have stayed in that dig site ALL day and would have been happy as a lark) Amber and dad rode Primeval Whirl since Jett was not tall enough, I ended up riding after and did not really enjoy. Eating + Spinning = Feeling naucious!

November2012353_zpsf94213b4.jpg

November2012361_zps5412fae8.jpg

Jett rode Tri-Cera top spin with my mum and dad and seemed to enjoy, despite it being a "baby" ride. :lmao:

At this point we were getting really warm so we decided to start to make our way out of the park. Not before hitting this ride up.

November2012373_zps494b4c27.jpg

So 3 members of our party were looking forward to this nightmare (err ride). I was not one of them. Amber and I really dislike bugs; I know they are not real bugs but nevertheless. I also REALLY don't like things that surprise me; I cringe during scary movies, I hate haunted houses, heck I jump if someone walks up behind me :lmao: So I read up on this ride before and knew exactly what to expect. I leaned forward, did not wear the 3D glasses and lifted my seat. I am sure my sister and I were quite the pair sitting in fetal position. Anywho long story short, my sister and I really didn't enjoy but the rest of our party of five thought it was great.

We were going to go to Camp Minnie Mickey but just couldn't it was too hot and we needed to get back to the Poly for a swim before our dinner reservation!
