Bet you thought I was talking about the kids! Actually it's me.
So I have a few questions.

1) Has anyone ever just eaten meals in the room?

2) Since DH loves all foods and would like to eat in the dining rooms would I be able to eat off the kids menu if needed?

3) Do they offer the main selections for room service?

I usually try to find something on the menus when we go out but I'm just worried with it being 7 nights.

Thanks, Lisa:confused:

I'm a picky eater also. They had pasta on the menu every night, along with chicken and steak. I found myself ordering the pasta for about the first three nights and decided I needed to venture out a little. The lobster on Thursday night? was great.
I don't think you can order main selections for room service unless you're in Category 1-3. It never hurts to ask though. I did think the room service menu looked pretty good.
And yes, you can order from the kids menu. They'll accommodate you in almost any way in the dining room.

The room service menu does not include the dining room menus.
The always offer plain grilled chicken and steak in the dining room...I hated the Tritons menu so I just got grilled chicken there.

Hi Lisa.

1) Has anyone ever just eaten meals in the room?

My first cruise was this past August. One of the many things I forgot to do was order room service. The meals were so filling that by the time we made it back to our cabin, there wasn't even room for jello (so to speak)...

in the dining rooms would I be able to eat off the kids menu if needed?

Yes. However, look on Barb's site. She has the menus posted from DCL. There is such an array of food that I'd be surprised if you couldn't find something you liked.

3) Do they offer the main selections for room service?

I'm not sure. I do know that your server will wrap-up anything you want to take back to the room.

Lisa - I'm just guessing here, but IF you suffer from an inability to eat in public don't hesitate to speak with your headwaiter. They can place you at a table positioned away from the crowd. All you've got to do is let them know and they'll do their utmost to accommodate any special needs. All the best to you...

Thanks!

I did look at a site that had the menus. That's when I started thinking Yikes!! I don't eat any seafood, steaks out (and any meat that has a bone). Not a fan of chicken. Pasta always good! I drive my DH nuts! Because he loves all of the above!

Makes for a great dinner debate in our household LOL! Maybe I'll just go along for company and let DH and DS eat everything! Than I'll hit the pizza bar!

Oh I also forgot I'm not big on Veggies! A parents worst nightmare! But I'm proud to say I've raised two boys who will eat anything and everything! Ok, I swear this is the only weird thing about me I promise!

Now that is funny!!!!!!! My Mom is the dessert addict and both Michael and I usually pass on the sweets!!!!! Vegetables are okay, sometimes we have them - sometimes we don't.
Depending on your personality and your servers, they might tease you about your veggies! I know they do me!!!!!!

They were extremely accomodating.

I have food allergies and am very picky on top of it.

One night I sat down and there was NOTHING on the entire menu that appealed to me. I ended up ordering a plain grilled chicken breast, some steamed broccoli, and white rice. They didn't at an eyelash.

Be careful, if you waver between two items they'll bring out both!

Hey Lisa. Last year in 3rd grade my son's class had to make individual charts about themselves including food likes and dislikes. Most of the kids stated a dislike for broccoli EXCEPT my son. It is one of his favorite foods. The charts were later displayed on the wall outside their classroom. While looking at it one day another of the parents happened by. They asked if the child's chart I was reading was my son's. I said yes. She asked, "How did you ever get him to even TRY broccoli?" My response to the dear woman was, "I lied. My son thought he was eating dinosaur meat."

Whatever works...

I'm a very picky eater and my DH will try anything. We've been on 5 DCL cruises and I've never gone hungry. :)

You can certainly order off the kids menu if you want. They won't care. The chicken breast is very tasty as is the steak (though I see you don't care for steak). They will try their best to accomodate you. Even if you see something you think you might light give it a try. The worst that will happen is you don't like it. You can always do Pizza or room service later.

Dh and I decided (when our oldest was about 3) that our lives were nothing but bribes, lies and threats.....

"If you eat that, you can have some ice cream."

"Eat that or you won't grow"

"Eat that now or you won't get anything else for the rest of the night!!!"

In the long run...we decided that when it comes to food battles the kids will always win and the adults will always be exasperated!

BD: We did the same with our kids. They pretended they were dinosaurs and the broccoli were trees. Of course, now that they're 9 and 13 it takes a little more persuasion.;)

Y'all are way too funny! Surprisingly enough my son also likes broccoli! He would take fruit or veggies over candy! Sometimes DH and I wonder if he is really ours!

Thanks so much! I'm feeling so much better sometimes I would just perfer the grilled cheese sandwich, go figure. Good food is lost on me.

Good food is lost on me.

Apparently, Lisa, your loss is my gain - both figuratively and literally...

Of course, now that they're 9 and 13 it takes a little more persuasion.

Persuasion? I call it following the rules - MY rules...

if you see something you think you might light give it a try.

Is that what's meant by "burning" calories???...

Both of my kids love broccoli too! My youngest DD could make a whole meal out of it. As long as it is served on the Magic I have no worries!

Dinosaur Meat?! ROLF!!!!!

Now that is pretty creative, folks!!!!

I'm a picky eater and I'm having a hard time just by looking at the menus as to what I am going to order...figured the BF would order 2 dishes and I would do the same-and then we'd swap...the best of all worlds...
As for brocolli-I'm 25 and the only veggies I eat are peas, corn and carrots...and maybe the occassional salad...you couldnt pay me enough to eat brocolli-it smells funny....

I'm also a picky eater (I think I only like things high in calories and fat content) but anyway, the staff will make sure that there is something for you to eat. They were wonderful with me, but I do eat steak (7 days of steak it works for me).

One of my DD's ate pasta with butter 3 out of 7 nights, grilled cheese one night, pb&j one night (and I forget the other). You will have NO problem, if you want something, just ask - no matter what it is. (DON'T YOU DARE SAY ANYTHING BD!)
