Oh yeah, sweet relish. . . the salsa of the gods. I don't think I"ve had dill relish.

You NEVER had dill relish... :confused3 I only use dill relish. I have never bought a jar of sweet relish...YUCK!

1 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup cornstarch
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt (I omit adding it but slightly sprinkle when taken out of the oil)
1 cup ice water
1 egg yolk
2 tablespoons dill pickle juice
4 cups drained dill pickle slices or equivalent amount of medium to large pickles, sliced 1/4-inch thick
vegetable oil for frying

In a large bowl, combine the flour, cornstarch, baking powder, and salt. Make a well in the center. All at once, add the water, egg yolk, and pickle juice. Stir the mixture with a wire whisk to make a smooth batter. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

In a deep fryer or large saucepan, heat at least 2 inches of oil to 375º F. In batches, dip pickle slices in the batter, lightly and evenly coating them. Without crowding, place coated slices in the hot oil. Fry until golden and crisp, 1 1/2 to 2 minutes. Drain on paper towels and serve immediately.

We like to dip them in ranch dressing!

Well, I wouldn't admit this to just anyone, but you seem like an understanding bunch. <looks both ways to make sure no one is around to eavesdrop>

DH does not like PICKLES! He takes special pains to order his hambers with no pickles. He can't just pick them off, because he wants no pickle juice corrupting the flavor of his burger.

He does, however, enjoy sweet relish on his hot dogs, so that's what we buy. At least he eats SOME form of pickles.

Thank you sooo much!!!

I can't imagine ever eating a pickle unless I were mentally incapacitated and didn't know what I was doing. If any of my friends ever see me trying to eat a pickle, I hope they punch me in the face.

It would hurt alot less if you just ate the pickle and be done with it... :thumbsup2

My 4 year old doesnt like pickles on his burgers. For a long time I ordered them without. Recently he told me not to order them without. I was shocked. Then he told me its because he enjoys picking them off! :rotfl2: Crazy kid.

You're such a pickle pusher

What do you call a pickle doctor?
A dill pusher

OK OK
I will admit it I do not like pickles on my burger either

-the crowd gasps-

at least not on fast food burgers where the pickle is a think little warm slimy nuisance - but I still order with them and give them to my kids :goodvibes

Gotta agree w/ya MW :thumbsup2 I like my pickles (on my burgers) cold & crisp! Yum yum! And my burgers are best with Dale's Seasoning. I will never grill another burger w/o my Dale's

Well, if I get a Fast Food burger, I get it PLAIN and DRY, because I don't like warm, slimy pickles either.

But when I make my own burgers, I make lipton onion burgers (but I use a strainer to strain out the dry onions and only let the powdery stuff through) with a lot of worchestershire sauce. I put mustard, cheddar cheese, Vlasic stackers on it. The TASTIEST burger around.

On the other side of the Chesapeake Bay (the Delmarva peninsula)

:welcome: To Virginia :welcome:

I have no idea where that is, but thanks for the welcome!

Virginia is soooo beautiful, especially compared to icky old Las Vegas, where I've lived my whole life. I really like it here.

Las Vegas, that sounds pretty neat. Va is pretty laid back until u get into the busier cities like Richmond, Va Beach, Norfolk, etc

Well gotta go for the nite... have a great evening!
