Picking up a rental at the Dolphin-National Rental Car

I rented a car for a week while we're down in Disney World. I'm picking it up my second day. I'll be staying at WL at that point. I will switch hotels mid-week, so I will have to get the car back to the Dolphin from POFQ.

Here's my question...what's the best way to facilitate the pick up/drop off? Should I take a cab over and then take a cab back at the end? Do you know if they have any kind of shuttle service? It's National.

There is no shuttle available there. But, you can take the boat to MGM from the Dolphin and then hop on your resort bus from there. When I have rented a car from the Dolphin, I have made my pick up day the day I am going to be at either MGM or Epcot. It's very easy to walk to the Dolphin from either one of those parks. Or, you can just head over from any of the parks via the Dolphin resort bus. It would be easier, as well as faster to just get a cab either way, but I hate to spend the extra money.

How do you book a car from National at Swan? I was planning on taking a taxi from WDW to the airport because I need a car for the last few days of my trip.

Ok, don't anyone answer, I just went back to National and figured it out for myself. Picking up from Swan will be so much easier than having to take a taxi to the airport.

What type of cars do they have at Swan? I love being able to pick out my own car in the Emerald aisle. Do they have an Emerald Aisle at Swan?

If you don't mind renting from National's sister company, Alamo has a location at the WDW Car Care Center which right at the MK Main Gate. This is a lot closer to WL than the Dolphin.

They offer a complimentary shuttle that picks ups and drops off to most WDW resorts. You just have to give them a call and they will send a driver over within the hour. We were staying at POP and found this really convenient (although it was still national at the time).

I haven't rented there yet, planning for June, but the National Rental desk is located in the Dolphin resort, not the Swan. When I booked it said Emerald Club Counter, they bring the car around to you, it's not like the EA where you select your own vehicle. According to the National Website, they are no longer at the Car Care Center, but Alamo is at both of these locations.

Right. You go inside the lobby to do the paperwork etc. but the valet actually gets the car for you right at the front entrance of the resort. Returning is even easier... you just let the valet know you're returning a rental car and he should give you some sort of receipt to show you were there... you don't go inside at all.
