:( I'm super disappointed in it :(
Not only did it not come with any sort of bag or box, it had hair (not mine!) and other threads and fluffs all over it. It was also extremely wrinkled. When I asked, they said they would steam it when I bring it in to get it altered, but I'm not getting it altered there, especially since everyone had a "we already sold to you so we're not going to be nice anymore" attitude.
Now as for the dress itself, I bought the Belle, they had it in a size 4 at the show which was too big and the laces were tight all the way up, so she ordered a 2. The 2 fits REALLY awkward. The laces in the back still lace almost all tight, and the front is about an inch width wise too small, which throws off the whole look, and fit. I didn't tell them, I tried it on and just left with it really disappointed, but thinking that it was just because it wasn't steamed that I didn't like it, but I steamed it in the bathroom at home, and once the wrinkles were out I figured out it was the fit at the top that was completely wrong. It's also uneven, higher on one side than the other :/
I'm so disappointed, I don't even know what to think :/

Definately take it back ASAP!! That's terrible!! Make sure you speak to a manager. It's your wedding dress, you absolutely need to be happy with it!

I'm so sorry you are having to deal with this! I would take it back ASAP and give them a piece of my mind. A big chunk of it and let them know what I think. I can't believe they would send that to you. I wonder if they gave you a dress that somebody had previously returned and that's why it had hair on it and other stuff? Can you get a refund, or at least an exchange?

Ugh, what a bummer! I think you have to take it back and voice your concerns. I know its not what anyone wants to do, especially with their wedding gown, but you deserve a beautiful, quality dress! Afterall, that is what you paid for. I might make a list before you go in case you get upset, so you don't forget anything.

I agree-- if you're not happy, take it back!!! I'm so sorry this happened :( But you HAVE to happy with it because it's your wedding dress!

thats rotten - go back and make your case if you can or feel up to it. listen, i just wanted to tell you this - i bought my dress at a david's bridal and there were issues with they ordered the wrong size and blah blah blah. even when i bought it, the service was far less then okay. when i picked up my dress (alhtough i am sure it was less expensive then what you bought), it also DID NOT EVEN COME WITH A BAG!!! like not even a dry cleaners garment bag! i paid them $10 freaking lousy bucks more for a cheap a$$ garment bag that started to split along a zipper before i even got it hung up at my place.

i spend $1000 and they want to charge me 10 bucks for a way to get my dress out the door clean. OY!!!!

so i hear you. but dresses can and do look weird or fit oddly and most do have to be altered. it just sounds like obviously someone tried on your dress. which is super annoying. you can try raising holy heck, although i also understand about how once you buy the customer service (if there was any to start with) goes to minus twelve. but don't despair - no matter what, you did love the dress and it WILL be amazing!! i swear!!

and side note, i had a bridal freak out 2 weeks before the wedding and brought my dress into a completely unrelated david's bridal. they were so awesome it was unblievable. and i ended up getting alterations there, that were amazingly affordable and fast! and they would have exchanged the dress for me if i wanted to get a different one. so you never know, leave all the tags on and call someone tomorrow and take names!!

you go!:thumbsup2

Thanks ladies. I'm going to try it on again with my FMIL tomorrow, and if she confirms that it's not the same as the one we tried on fit-wise, then we'll call and see what the options are. It's an hour and a half drive, so that really sucks.
If I had bought the one at the trunk show, it wouldn't have needed a single alteration except that the back was laced all the way (Like no lace showing) so it would seem like the smaller size would be the same by without the lace problem :/ I'll try to take some pics so maybe you can see if I'm just being weird.

sorry to hear you've had all this - collecting your wedding dress should be an exciting happy time not a stress and dissapointment! at thend of the day, you are the customer and they should doe whatever it takes to rectify the problems and make sure you're happy. would be bad enough if it was just a party/evening wear dress, but this is a major expense and they should be extra accomodating to make sure its all to your satifaction.

make sure you post and fill us in on what's happened / update us etc.

good luck!

I am so sorry this happened to you. I can so relate to this!

Most definitely take it back if you are not 100% happy with it. Have a fit about it and aim your unhappiness at the manager! Hopefully you have enough time to either have them order another dress for you or you can pick out another dress.

When I ordered my wedding dress the girl measured my bust and looked at her chart and said I needed to order a dress 2 sizes larger than I normally would AND they charged me extra $$ for it. I argued that I did not need a dress 2 sizes larger - I had been in enough weddings that I knew about wedding/bridesmaids dresses & the sizing - and if they insisted on having order a larger size than one extra size would be ok. They were adamant about the 2 sizes. Fine - ordered the dress. Two months later the store closed and moved to another state (still within driving distance) but I wasn't notified. I found out by stopping at the store one day and seeing a sign! Contacted them (this was 2 months before my wedding) and they did not have any record of my dress being ordered!!! Finally they found my order (they had it under my first name rather than my last name). A month before our wedding they called that the dress was in. My mom & I went to get it. I could put this dress on without even unzipping it! It was HUGE! I grabbed the dress and held it on (otherwise it would have falled off of me). The place was very busy and I screamed at the girl to get the manager. The manager comes over, smiles and asks how I like my dress. I yelled that I will tell everyone I know NEVER to go there to get a dress because they don't listen to the customer and proceeded to explain about how huge the dress is. He says "oh it can't be that bad." and I let go of the dress and it almost (my mom grabbed it) fell to the ground. He got all flustered, they managed to refund the extra $$ they charged me for the bigger size, I got free jewelry (and so did my attendents). But the kicker was they didn't have a seamstress at the store yet, but did give me the name of the lady who used to work there and lived around the corner from my parents' house. Luckily she did the alterations for me and only charged me $100! When she was done (a week BEFORE the wedding) she actually had enough material to make a dress for a flower girl! I let her keep the material and gave her a $50 tip. I was so grateful she could do it in such a short time - she literally had to redo my entire dress.

And true to my word I will NEVER recommend Katherine's of Old Town Alexandria - and it's been 20 years and I know the same folks are not there and I think the name of the place has changed but there is still a wedding boutique in that location! :rotfl:

So yeah - go complain - they need to know!!! :)

oh no :(

i'm picturing all this in my head and i would be so mad!! i tried this dress on, and although it looked horrid on my body type... i can still visualize what you mean about the top being uneven and that sounds like a nightmare :( i feel so bad for you!!

i would take it back and speak with a manager. if they don't want to do anything, call a manager at AA. i hope if all works out!!

I would definitely take it back and be sure to say about finding the hair and the uneven fit at the top- it sounds like a used dress or sample to me. I can imagine if they have a dress ordered- it shouldn't be that disheveled and wrinkly?

Hope everything works out! pixiedust: pixie dust coming your way!!

First, Im so sorry this is happening! :headache: What a pain..

I ordered my dress and fell in love with it. It came in, I picked it up no problem..except fast forward 8 months and I was 4 sizes smaller...I had to get a whole new dress. I didnt know it until I went in to try BM dresses on with my BFF for her wedding and I put on a smaller size. My consultant saw me and told me to stop losing weight or they wouldnt be able to alter my dress....umm no, im going to keep losing weight..duh!I bought my dress from a Davids in Houston. I spoke to a mgr after the consultant mentioned that. Itold him how upset and worried I was. He told me to bring it in and they would swap it out, which forced them to order it again in a smaller size (petite no less) So I brougt the dress in and tried in on in a smaller size and it was awful..heartbreaking really. So I had to get a new dress..completely different style and sizes but it was great how the store was really accomodating with me and made it easier on me. Hopefully you'll get lucky and they can fix everythingfor you really quick.

I second everything all the other girls said, and speak to a manager. Make sure to mention youve heard great things about that store in particular from friends or past brides (even if its BS) and that you really hope they help you like they have helped others in the past...that may help in their willingness...if not, go up the chain til you get what you want. Hell hath no fury like that of a scorned bride!!

This is YOUR day, dont let anyone ruin it for you!! Good luck!

Well, I spoke to the district manager today, she was extremely helpful, I took pictures and emailed them to her compared to the pics I took at the store, she forwarded them to the design team and someone else, and said that she'd get back to me next week after she hears what they think. She also said either way, they'll make it right, which is a huge comfort. I explained that we ordered a size smaller because the one I tried was a 4, and she said that it was the dress straight off the runway and wasn't actually a size! It would also be the reason that they are different, since the one I tried on was the prototype, and mine was a mass-production. I wasn't told this, why would I know that if I ordered that dress I would end up with a different (albeit similar) dress?
It looks slight in the pictures, and it makes me wonder if I'm just expecting too much, but it's really noticable when I wear it :/ First is the scoop of the neck, it's not as deep in the TS(trunk show) dress as it is in mine. The fit is also terrible, it puckers and sticks out in my dress with the laces completely tight, with about an inch and a half showing, and it didn't in the TS dress. The TS dress was also much more smooth in the satin bodice, and it just looked...nicer, where as in mine, it's really reoly/wrinkly and just looks cheaper :/

I see what you are saying. It is wrinkled and puckered, like the stitching is pulling or something. Satin is very unforgiving when it's sewn wrong. I hope they fix it for you. Maybe a good steaming from the store will help the wrinkles but the puckering and stitching issues may only be resolved by a new dress.

So I just went to try on my Alfred Angelo dress today and Bad news--the netting on the front is wrinkled! Luckily I saw it there and had great customer service. The manager came over and said that the seamstress could probably slice the netting open in several places and make it straight but they aren't going to chance it and are just going to order me a brand new one and put notes about what was wrong in this order. So while I'm sad that I don't have my dress, I'm glad they're taking care of the situation.

It kind of looks like shadows here, but the netting is acutally wrinkled

So please keep your fingers crossed that the new dress won't have this problem!

And what kind of resolution did you get?

No resolution yet, the DM called back yesterday and said that the design team couldn't see anything wrong with the pictures and I needed to drive back to the store to meet with the seamstress and the store manager. The store manager left a message and said that they want to see it and compare it to the sample they have in the store, which is stupid since I didn't try on the dress in the store. At this point, I think I'm going to just ask for a full refund, I REALLY don't like being made feel like it's my fault the dress is different and doesn't fit right, and it's not anything a seamstress can fix, it's a bad build of the dress. When my MIL saw it, she figured out that the biggest thing making the front fit weird was the boning in the bodice, it's makes Madonna ****s. :/
