I have heard that families get chosen to do SPECIAL things at Disney.
Ride on Parade floats, Open the MK on the Train,
WIlderness Lodge has something at night on the roof,
Shut down the Castle?
Not sure on all the facts, any help?

How can we get picked?

Thanks :wave2:

I don't know this answer but am interested in hearing responses. My only idea would be to be early for these events (MNSSHP, park openings, etc...), look cute (lol) and make eye contact with cast members. I'm guessing a lot of it is luck though - being in the right place at the right time!

The only advice I can give is "Be Friendly to Castmembers". Strike up a conversation, offer personal information and don't have the kids fighting in front of them. It may not be much.....but when we were waiting for FOTLK we were talking to a CM about our trip. She starting asking me questions and then made a secret phonecall. She told us to meet a CM at another entrance but wouldnt tell us why. We found out they reserved us front row seats and didnt have to enter until 5 minutes before the start of the show. We were so excited, never had front row before and got so much extra attention being that close. I guess you never know when Disney Magic will hit!!!! :wizard:

I don't know but unless you have kids with you, you're pretty much outta luck. I've noticed us grown up kids who travel without little kids are never picked for anything. :(

Interesting you should say that...For quite some time, I would "prep" my grandchildren upon entering the park...Advising them to smile and look cute...and nothing...Then, one time, my sister and I went by ourselves....We entered Magic Kingdom, like always...never expecting anything...when we came upon a cast member standing on the little bridge by the Castle...I asked her questions about Crystal Palace..as we were coming to Disney again with my sister's family and wanted to scout out all the possiblities of where to eat...Well..after talking to her for a while..you can imagine our surprise when she picked us to be Grand Marshals for the parade that day! I thought my sister was going to flip out.... :rotfl: We were so excited! :Pinkbounc I do want to tell you..that I "worked my crowds"...waving to each an every single child I could see...winking and making eye contact...It felt wonderful. :wizard: :cloud9: Later on..my sister and I were standing in line in the ice cream shop..A woman with two young daughters started up a conversation with us...I blurted out that we had been Grand Marshals that day...She immediately told her daughters to get out their autograph books...and we signed them!!! :teeth: So you see...it is all by chance.... :lmao:

What anice story - thank you. Just what I needed this day - home with a scik little one and a semi-sick other little one. I'm not usually what one would call a sap ( :) ) but thinking about a nice lady and her sister, being sure to make eye contact with the little ones, makes me smile! Thanks. :sunny:

during our fist trip to WDW as a family my two girls then ages two and 4 were picked twice on two seperate days. first time we were at the magic kingdom gates early we were approched by a cast member and asked if we would like to open the park. Both my girls got a certificate and a magic wand then we all had a ride in an old fire engine down main st.
The second time a couple of days later we were asked if we wanted to meet some one special. We were led into the park and daisy duck came out to meet us .We then had another ride with daisy in a horse drawn carridge.
The only thing that could explain all this is we were lucky. Since then we have visited WDW once more and were going again this year. But I made sure I told the girls now 5 and 7 that we may not be asked this time because it will be someone elses turn.

Those of you who have been lucky enough to get picked, how far ahead of the park opening do you get there?

Reading this makes me think we missed out chance. :sad1: We were at the MK (me, dh, dd then 10, ds then 6) very early two years ago- so early they hadn't even turned on the music yet, and it was still dark. (No, we're not nuts, we had early ADRs and had heard horrible things about getting there from BC, so we took the very first bus we saw). So we were waiting, waiting, and a CM comes over and starts to talk to us for a really long time. The kids were being sweet, talking about how much they love Disney, etc. Then ds started talking about our early breakfast with Pooh. By that time, other people had shown up, and the CM moved on to them. Sigh.

Did we miss our chance?

This fall we'll be going with our new family member, and maybe she'll be so cute and engaging we'll get another shot. Of course, once again, we have early ADRs with Pooh...

My sister and I were picked for the Magic Kingdom parade around 10:30 in the morning...

The picture below is my sister and me....

The same thing happened with us. My girls were 2.5 and 5. We got there 45min. before the park was to open. This was our first trip as well. To this day they still talk about it and show everyone the photos of us on the fire engine ringing the bell. (They even remeber the password the had everyone guess before they could come into the park.) :cheer2:

I was once picked to sit on the floor at The Millionaire Game just because I was going in alone. My dw and ds were watching Rollie Pollie Ollie and I wanted to catch Millionaire. The cm asked me how many were in my group and I said one and she said come with me. Next thing you know, I am on the floor. The others picked were a large family group (about 6) and a couple of other fillers.
