I have the opportunity to take one day off work in the next month, and I would love to use it to go Christmas shopping. During the week, when the crowds are scarce.

So...........when should I go? What day of the week is best for stock to be in, and sales to be good? Before Black Friday or after?

TIA!

Day before Thanksgiving. You will have the stores to yourself.

Day before Thanksgiving. You will have the stores to yourself.

And parking will be easy too!

If you do opt to take this day after Black Friday - get to the mall right when they open. (About 2 weeks before Christmas - some of the malls near us start to open earlier than normal. I'm sure that mall hours are on the mall's website). This is also a time when the mall feels like a ghost town.

I'd go as late as possible. Probably the week before Christmas. Many of the items are discounted to Black Friday prices.

Regarding rrestocking, I think it depends on the store. I know Hobby Lobby (where I used to work) restocks on Fridays. But I think other stores restock on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Wenesday that way you avoid all the people who want to take long weekends off. You are before most peoples payday. I see alot of stores getting new stock on tuesday.

I disagree with the closer you get to Christmas the better deals they have, they know your going to spend the stores don't deep discount as much.

I say in the next couple weeks, and go Wed. or later, no good sales on Mon. and Tues.

It would be nice if you could watch for sales then plan your day when you find a good one.

You only get one day??? Wow! Seems like a lot of pressure to get it all done in a day. I worked at Kohls for a holiday and we got stock Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Not sure about other stores. As far as when to go, I would say about a week after Black Friday, or the first week of December. Go early. I think it doesn't matter which day of the week because it stays pretty crazy after Black Friday. If I had to pick a day, it would be Wednesday. Also, don't forget you can shop online 24/7. I do a lot of my Black Friday shopping online now and it works out GREAT! Good luck to you!

I guess it depends on what you are getting, for me, I do most of it all on Black Friday, which means, hitting the stores @ midnight the last few years and then calling home when I am about 1/2 hour from being done & my husband takes the boys to an extended breakfast so that I can unload, wrap & hide. If I see a deal on one of the must have's before Black Friday, I will grab it. Which means I get up early ever Sunday and review the toy ads, if there is something that is a greeat deal, I go grab it while the kids are still asleep.

Best in stock I find is Sunday AM but I know if I so somewhere and ask they will tell me when their next truck is coming...this is true for Toys R Us, Target & Best Buy anyways~

I do not do much online as since I work & pick up my son (9) from school it is too hard to explain the large boxes @ the front door!

If you make a list and have not to many hard to get items, I am sure one day starting earling and planning all day will get it done. Good Luck!

OP here...........unfortunately, I can't take the day before Thanksgiving off.

I'll shoot for another Wednesday, though. Probably right after Thanksgiving? (or the week before?)

And to answer a previous poster's question, I don't get just this one day to do all of my shopping!! Sorry if that's what my OP implied. I have lots of weekend time to go, and I do a TON of online shopping. But the crowds really annoy me, and I have so much to do at home on the weekend, that I like to take a day during the week to do a big shop, just for my daughters.
