Help me, I'm crazed.
I have 3 hotel booked for a long weekend trip in October (5 nights). We're doing OBB and 2 other days at the parks.
I have a 6 year old who sometimes needs timeouts (or just breaks!) at the hotel midday, and who gets overstimulated and needs peace and quiet sometimes. She does get tired and cranky from lots of walking and still asks for a stroller sometimes (we didn't get one last trip but I usually have it in the back on my head!).
But I also have a 70+ year old grandmother with us who doesn't have great hips or knees after replacements and would love a hot tub in a pool area and the shortest possible walk to the parks. She's considering possibly renting a scooter in the parks but we won't have our own. She is only getting 1 ticket to the park in addition to the OBB ticket we already had.
I'm in my 40s and if I have a hard bed I'm miserable. Otherwise, I don't care if we need to walk a bit more and I'm in pretty great shape health- wise.

We will not have a car.

Of these 3 hotels which I already have set reservations, where do I stay? Please be aware that I commonly share a bed with my daughter on vacation, so we are not worried about the HoJo, but she does love having her own little bed as well.

Editing to add that we have now booked grandma an off-site scooter based on some of these replies. Distance is now much less of a problem overall!

Can’t comment on the hotels but get grandma a ecv rental from an off-site vendor that will deliver to your hotel. Then distance is no issue and you waste no time renting at the park. She can always park it and walk around if she wants. (You don’t need her causing damage to herself with all the walking nor do you want to see her in too much pain to return to the park in the evenings.)

I voted for Hojo and I’ll tell you why. Yes, it is not the closest on your list. But…..they have the most comfortable beds and pillows by far! We absolutely love their beds. And last time we stayed we looked up the pillows so we could buy them for home. Also, we stayed in this room type last November and my husband had an ECV due to knee surgery. There was plenty of room for the ECV in this room. Hojo has a wonderful regular pool and spa are plus your daughter would absolutely love the water park (and there’s a spa in that area too). Hojo is a hotel and in our experience, building 1 has been very quiet if you decide to come back for a nap.

We rented his ECV from D&R mobility (at the grand legacy hotel) and they delivered to Hojo. We had zero issues with the ECV and it held a charge all day.

Have a great trip!!

I've only stayed at Desert Inn, the are comfortable but a little stiff, friends have stayed at Tropicana the past few trips they've taken and seem to enjoy it over Desert Inn, I would opt for Tropicana over HOJO same room type much closer

I pick Desert Inn because it is the closest to the cross walk. They are basic rooms but saving those few extra steps are worth it at the end of the day. There is an indoor hot tub/pool.

I'd rent a scooter from an outside vendor so grandma can have it for the "walk" to & from the parks.

I voted for the Tropicana for its proximity to the crosswalk and because there are 3 separate sleeping surfaces. I can’t speak to the comfort of the mattresses.

I'm with Crystal for all the reasons she stated. Hojo is already my favorite. Reading your post I started to ask myself if proximity was better for you, but I think considering your whole situation Hojo will be best for room size and absolutely for the comfort of the beds and pillows. Make sure to stick with your plan for tower 1 though, that is the best building.

I've come to love Tropicana. It's become our go-to Harbor hotel. We usually stay in the Park View Suite (which is amazing), but we also have stayed in the 2 queen setup and just had family stay in that room over the summer.

It's clean, close, and comfortable! From the front of the property to security is usually 5 minutes! Distance might be less important if you don't leave for an afternoon break.

I've stayed at Desert Inn the last few trips and have another trip booked for next year there. We always get the parlor suite and love it.
I find the place clean, quiet enough and we really like the included breakfast - we eat toast and cereal at home so that is all we need in a breakfast and for us it's perfect.
The location can't be beat literally right across the street and right next door to ihop and denny's

I'm going to throw in a recommendation for the Candy Cane Inn. It's about the same distance as Hojo from the main gates, BUT they have a free shuttle for when you just can't walk anymore, and it's on the same side of the street, so you don't have to cross Harbor. ALSO, free parking, free (very good) breakfast and very comfortable beds. Their rooms are smallish, however, so that may be a deal breaker for you.

I have stayed at all of these hotels. Desert Inn has really uncomfortable beds, in my experience. Our bed severely sagged in the middle. We have opted not to stay there again until they do a refurbishment. Tropicana beds are fairly comfortable. but Hojo beds are by far the most comfortable.

Looking again at our room at Tropicana, it would be a lot tighter fit in the 2 queen sleeper chair room with an ECV in the room. There isn’t a lot of space in that room to fit a scooter. You can do it, but it will tight. The hojo rooms have more empty floor space to fit strollers and ECVs. (As long as you stay in the building 1, 2 queen rooms)

Tropicana and Hojo were very clean for us during our stay. Desert Inn was not.

Picking a hotel is so hard! I always feel a ton of pressure picking a hotel. Good luck with your decision and have a great trip!!

I can’t speak for the sleeper chairs at the Tropicana but the pull out sofas are hard as rocks!!!

If the sleeper chair is anything like the Camelot, which they likely are since same owners, then not amazing

The beds at the Tropicana are great though. And it’s closer to the crosswalk to Disneyland

Second pick would be Desert Inn for proximity
Prob the same distance to the crosswalk as the Tropicana but just coming from the other way

Hojo all the way. Huge rooms in building 1, such comfortable beds, nice pool and hot tub area, lovely little convenience store. I've changed my allegiance to Candy Cane because they have a free shuttle and breakfast, but would go back to Hojo if the price was right!

I would go with the Hojo in your situation. Mind you, it's been ages since we have stayed there, but their rooms were always very spacious which I think would be important for an ECV. I am a light sleeper, so I particularly value hotel style establishments vs motels. If anyone in your group is also a light sleeper, I'd give Hojo an edge for that as well.

So far these replies have been fantastically helpful! After discussing allllll of these responses, we decided that we will stay at either Hojo or Tropicana and that we'll decide on Wednesday, based on the poll I put in this post.

So you'll truly be picking our hotel. Whatever wins is the reservation we're keeping!

Of those 3, I'd go with Tropicana since it's so close. The walk to Hojo felt so far to me when we stayed there.

If you want other option, check the 2 best westerns right across the street from the entrance or Park Vue.

PS. If you want more space, Tropicana does have a family suite which is a double queen attached to a single queen and you can get a kitchen sometimes, too. You don't book that on their site but email Tropicana directly. I've booked that before and Patricia, the manager, was super helpful.

I haven't stayed at Tropicana but have heard good things and location seems to be one of your biggest asks, based on the mid day breaks and short walk to the parks. Tropicana is one of the closet hotels. Hojo is another 8 minute walk past Tropicana which is an extra 15 minutes round trip...it's a pretty far walk for young/old legs at the end of the day especially. Desert Inn and Suites is similarly far (probably a tiny bit further) as Hojo in the opposite direction.

I think you might be confusing Desert Inn with Desert Palms. Desert inn is right next to Park Vue, which is right by the crosswalk over harbor to the DLR.
