Pick a resort CS for me

The first night we arrive we will get in around 7pm and will be using a CS for dinner. We are staying at the Sports and are willing to drive to any resort for dinner.

WE have looked at Beaches and Cream and wondered if the Desserts were the ice cream sundays?! And also Contempo Cafe looked yummy.

Any ideas ???

If you are looking to use a CS dining plan credit, Beaches & Cream is not a CS. It's a TS. For a TS credit, yes, the sundaes are included as dessert - except for the Kitchen Sink.

According to posts here, the best buys for the money on a CS credit appear to be Pepper Market (at Coronado Springs), where a ribeye steak is on the menu for dinner and still costs just one CS credit, and Wolfgang Puck Express (at Downtown Disney - there are two locations, but the preferred one is in the Marketplace). Earl of Sandwich at Downtown Disney is also recommended for sandwiches.

I agree that wolfgang pucks will be a good first night and you will also be in DTD, which is fun. Another good choice is POFQ food court. Its not really crowded and for dinner there are great CS choices - you can get chicken and ribs combo or pot roast and if you're on the dining plan, they even have scooped ice cream you can get for desert. So even though its CS, its not like having fast food for dinner. After dinner, you can take a walk down to the river and do the river cruise to DTD - very relaxing and scenic.

I really like the food courts at both Pop and POFQ. WPE in DTD is also a very good CS option.

I would highly recommend the Contempo Cafe and if you go there be sure to order the Chicken Ceasar Salad with the dressing already inside it, because it tastes amazing. Plus unlike other counter service locations all their Salads are made fresh each time you order them, so they are not pre-made and kept inside a fridge.

I agree with PP about WPE. Very good.

However, you asked for a RESORT CS. So I will recommend Mara at AKL. We stayed at AKL two years ago. It is a beautiful resort. Mara has some nice offerings. You can get the famous zebra domes for a dessert option with your CS credit. If you LOVE them, you can grab some for a snack credit to take back to your room.

The dining room is large. There is a big huge tree type thing in the middle of it, which is hard to describe, but if you could search down pictures of it, you will understand. There are also tvs in the dining room with the black and white Disney cartoons playing. There is also an outside patio area that is nearish to the pool.

While you are at AKL, I recommend checking out the resort itself. The savannahs where the animals are. If it's dark, there is one that has a lounge or something where you can look at the animals through night vision goggles.

There is storytime at the firepit. Comfortable rocking chairs surround a campfire type ring where a CM will tell a traditional folk tale.

The store at AKL is pretty fun. It does have a section where African merchandise is displayed. One feature is that they have African musical instruments there. If you hit it at the right time, children are invited to grab an instrument and participate in a parade around the lobby. Your child will receive a certificate for participating, too.

It would be a nice, exploring crowd free type of evening.

I would say Mara at AKL, love the chicken flatbread and zebra domes!

The best CS, IMHO, is WPE (hope you got all that). Great food and value. If you want a resort, I would go with Pepper Market. We stay at CSR and have enjoyed many meals there. Ribeye at a CS! Pretty good deal!

Mara at AKL--go see the animals and stroll around the resort--beautiful!

Pepper Market at CSR--has more of a sit-down feel to it. Again stroll around over to the pool area--very pretty.

Captain Cook's at the Polynesian--good food and great beach to stroll on--if you go late enough, you can catch the fireworks at MK from the Poly beach.
