I voted for CSR because i love the food and the area. Great pool but also a great lake with hammocks. No matter where you are staying in the property, you can get golf cart rides to the front. Also, because it is a convention resort (which someone complained about earlier), the bus systems are even better. Most conventioneers do not take WDW bus trasportation as either they have thei own or are working most of the time. This leaves the buses open for other guets. Pepper market is amazing and although a little pricier than most food courts, has a much better selection...

CSR is centrally located to all the parks and only has 4 stops vs 7 at CBR.

We're arriving on MLK Day to avoid that weekend rush. We're looking at January 21 - 28 of 2008. Based on my research, this seems to be the best time to go for cool weather and low crowds :thumbsup2 .

We'll be at the parks most of the time, but do plan on taking one day to mostly enjoy the resort.

After reading your much compiled research page:goodvibes

I think as much as i Love pofq.....

I might choose CSR......BECAUSE you are going in JANUARY....
the size of the resort might not be as wearing when
it's not that hot.....

Of course a major reason I picked CSR for you is that
the pool slide is much better......It might be too cool
in Jan to swim though.....We are from NY....
we went last Jan....and we swam 2 days...
Good luck in your choice....ya can't go wrong:goodvibes

Thanks. This planning process is wonderful, I've only changed my mind on Resorts and Dates a million times  . We just looked at an updated Crowd Predictor Site, and it looks like I may avoid MLK Weekend and Day all together, and may shoot for an Arrival date of Jan. 26th. That'll probably change again tomorrow, and the bad part is, I have to call Disney today to change my original reservations which were for Dec. 18 - 26 at the Contemporary. I Love the Indecisiveness of planning your trip to Disney :surfweb: .

Since your 1st ressie was in Dec.....
The week after Thanksgiving.....is an awesome time to go....
all the decorations were up....weather was good....
Crowds were low....

In fact we were there 11-27-12-4-06 and also
1--22-1-27-07....and I thought the crowds were the same....

I'm almost ready to switch you back to POFQ....:lmao:
Cause I think you can't go wrong there....

Everyone's gonna hate me for this, but my wife has decided that she wants to throw the WL into the mix since it's only a little more than the Moderates :headache: . She likes the bunk-beds, theming, bigger rooms and the fact that it's a deluxe. The neverending planning continues :lmao: .

I realy love POFQ, that's what I would do if I was in your situation. It's compact, and the themeing is great. I loved the room and the castmembers were very friendly. Honestly, it's almost worth it just to eat the benets (or however you spell it) in the food court!

CS:banana: We stayed there last christmas and we loved it, the resort is beauitful, the peppermarket is really good, the buses were never really crowded, the room was very comfortable and nice:thumbsup2 We have a 2 yr old so we came back to the resort each day around 2 o'clock and the buses were fine:goodvibes

How in the world did I miss these? Lol. We were there last week and I wish I would have seen this thread before hand.

OP if your interested I have a Trip Report that includes a night at POFQ in my signature from last week, lots of photos of the resort, room and pool.

We were there two years ago, and they had them in the bakery part of the food court for breakfast. Nothing like fried dough and sugar for breakfast at Disney World! Honestly...is there anything better?

Well then that suddenly makes it an easy decision, in my opinion! WL, all the way, because now you are comparing moderates to a deluxe, and based on your scoring, WL should win on most categories. This is suddenly not so much of a downgrade from the CR.

Theming: WL wins over all the moderates. Just look at some pictures.
Transportation: The buses may not necessarily win compared to some of the moderates, but transportation to MK is only a short boat ride away.
Convenience: WL, hands down. It's all in one building.

There are "some" actual castle & fireworks views from a few of the rooms on the north wing of the building, so it is possible to get one of those rooms.

Also, do you have to change your dates from December? Because if not, that is an absolute magical time of year to go, especially at the WL!

Either way, pick WL and forget it! :cool2:

Have been to all but CBR (well, visited and pool hopped as a DVC member, but didn't stay over).

Coronado is my favorite. I didn't think I'd like it but we loved it there.

Good luck- what a "dilemma"! I am glad you still get to go!

There is no question in my mind that Port Orleans Riverside is the way to go. The grounds are amazing and there are so many extra's there. There are quiet pools, ol man island, playground area in sand that your kids will love, fishing hole, horse back carriage rides, surrey bikes, table service, boat ride to Downtown Disney, etc....

Only negative for me is that sometimes the bus service is lacking. When its busy you have to wait or stand on the bus after a long day at the park. It's not like that all the time but it is occasionally. My understanding is that it shares with POFQ.

Good luck. Either way you'll have a blast.

We're on our way to Disneyland for the first time ever!!!

considering your kids ages... POFQ and CBR have stupid "kiddie slides" coronado has the best slide. we stayed at POR (it was dixie landings at the time) and my sons (12 and 15) LOVED it. they have the best arcade of the moderates. at least at french quarter, the hot tub is set aside. at CBR, it is RIGHT in the middle of the pool! but look into it, I hear the main pool will be closed down for a while.
restaurants: shutters: did NOT like at all (CBR) Maya GRILL (CSR) LOVED IT!!!! the filets ... you can cut them with a fork!. have not tried boatwrights yet.. pepper market,,,, great, IF you are on the DDP, otherwise, too pricey.
did you check out the pics of a previous posters of the casitas section of CSR? JUST BEAUTIFUL at night.... fountains, courtyards, rotundas, etc.
call and find out if there is any MAJOR convention at that time, but we love CSR
It's hard to pick which I like the best because ALL the moderates are great. we actually PREFER them to the deluxe or the values. have fun!!!

Ok...all bets are off.....
YOU MUST GO TO WL....:goodvibes

WL is special.....if you can swing it....you won't be dissapointed....
if you go at holiday time....I insist;)

Sorry that you will miss out on your original choice. We usually stay at CR, but have seriously been considering trying CSR. It looks so beautiful, and people say so many wonderful things about it. This Sept when we are there, we are going to take time to go over to CSR to walk around, and see if we like it enough to stay there in the future.
