Hi to all Disney Crusers!

My first time DC with Disney wonder is coming up and so as my 7ears old son's piano recital one week after the cruise. The piano teacher is not happy about him not practicing for 8 days right before recital. But, I booked DC:rotfl2: a year ago way before recital schedule being set. My son is having two long peices, one is 4 page marching song and second one is 2 page jazz song. Now, he almost memorized the songs. I am sure he will forget everythng after 8days non stop fun on board without practicing. Please, anyone had similar experience with me could give me any info or tip about playing piano at Disney Wonder? I appreciate it. :worship:

Here's an idea... enroll him in the talent show!! They have a keyboard (in Wavebands I think) they let some folks use. Consider that his practice :) Doesn't hurt to try.

When we were on the Wonder three years ago, our DD wanted to play the piano for her grandma. DD has her BFA in music, and teaches professionally. DH talked to guest services and they arranged for a lounge that wasn't being used at the time, and grandma was thrilled to hear DD play.

In other words, there are pianos on board -- check with guest services to see where/when one is available. They were very accommodating.

I agree with PP, check with Guest Services.
The adult piano lounge has one and you can use the room when not in use.
DW and I had some of our 25th anniversary pictures taken there as a private session.
If you ask and talk with the manager/CD I am sure he can get one of the pros on-board to set down and work with your son.

On the Magic, we were able to arrange a time with the music people to allow DD to practice in Sessions. This was years ago. Now the electronic piano in Diversions is available at any time there isn't a formal session of some sort in the room. Kids can play WITH HEADPHONES so that they don't disturb those who might be watching TVs, playing games, etc.

They have replaced the great piano that was in Sessions with an electronic monstrosity--it doesn't even sound good. I do understand the easier maintenance, but....OK, so my DD is a spoiled monster when it comes to instruments.

The talent show might provide an incentive to practice as well as a prep session for the recital. They use a good quality keyboard (weighted keys, etc) in Rockin Bar D on the Magic for this event. There is a one hour practice, then the program. Sign up at the excursion desk--again, first come, first in. There are no try outs or anything; it is simply a matter of who signs up first. Wait list people will get in if the sign ups don't show up for the practice session.
