Just wondering if anyone is going to the photoshop world conference at Vegas in September?

I'll be going for my company and would be interested in meeting up with some DIS'ers

I know! I'm so excited to go! I'm having problems picking out which classes I want to go to! (But at least at the end they give you a book on ALL the classes!)

Woohoo! Talked to my partner and we can swing it so I'm going too!! I'm totally excited. I got a ding fare this morning and booked the flight. Also booked the hotel room. Now I need to study the brochure and decide on which classes to take then register. I'm so psyched!

I just have to ask what kind of job you do where they'll send you to a photoshop conference? If I'm real good this year, my company will send me to a risk management conference, not exactly high up there on the excitement scale. Sounds like I'm in the wrong line of work.

LOL! I get to go to Composition in the Classroom seminars and I completely agree.

OMG, I want to go! LOL I would feel totally out of place, of course. I don't think my company would pay for me to go to that, even though I use photoshop almost daily...hey! I'm the only designer in my office...shouldn't I go "hone my skills"???

perhaps I should mention that I work in architecture, exciting, retail architecture...

LOL, yes I'm a senior graphic designer at my company, and this conference is just to sharpen skills and learn new ones to make the advertising for the company that much better (WOOT!)

Me, me, I'll be there!!! Haven't decided which sessions to attend, but I know they'll be great. I went two years ago, with my brother, who is also an amateur photographer, and it was great. We're looking forward to going again and I would love to say hi to a fellow disney person!

So, I was able to get my employer to pay to send me to Photoshop World in Orlando this coming March. Haven't been in two or three years, but I have been multiple times in the past. I was able to get the "Alumni" rate to save a bit of money, so I'm going to get the "Speed Pass" to make it a little easier while there (the Speed Pass gives front of the room access to the keynote and the class sessions).

The official conference hotel is the Rosen Centre, which is right beside the Orange County Convention Center. The special rate for attendees is $145 per night. I figured I could do better than that. I used Travelocity's Top Secret Hotels feature to book a "four-star hotel" in the same area for $46 per night -- and said Top Secret Hotel turned out to be ... the very same Rosen Centre!

So it will be Photoshop during the day, Disney at night! What could be better than that?

Anyone else here contemplating going to Photoshop World? C'mon -- you know you wanna!

Sounds like a lot of fun. I almost drove over last year just to go walk around the expo floor with the free expo pass they were offering. I would love to go, but it is not in the budget and it is not directly related to my work. I do get to attend a conference next week at the Orlando Marriott so I guess I've got that going for me, which is nice.

Well, I should clarify that while it isn't coming out of my pocket, it IS coming out of my one-man office budget. Still, I think Photoshop World is money well-spent. I always learn so much (it is pretty cool to be around people who know more about the software than I do, rather than having to be the resident "guru"), and, without fail, I return with my ambition and creativity seriously re-energized.
