Photos of Segway Tour?

I'm considering booking the Segway tour as a surprise for DW. I wouldn't be participating--just her.

Is it reasonable to think that I would be able to snap a few photos during the second half of the event while participants are roaming the World Showcase? I realize the WS isn't open and I wouldn't be able to enter myself. But I've got a zoom lens for the camera that is about 9" long. Is it safe to say that I'll be able to spot the tour members and get a few shots from long distance?

DH and I went on this tour mid-September--it was great! I don't know how well you'd be able to take her picture since you can't enter the WS, but I guess you could try and see how they turn out. I guess the best time would be just as they enter or exit the WS since that is when you would be the closest to them. I think even with a zoom lens there might be obstructions blocking your view. They don't just stick to the outer perimeter, they actually take you in and among the features of certain countries, through garden walkways, under patios, etc.

My advice would be for your DW to bring a camera with her. There is a fairly large compartment on the front of each segway for personal belongings. Once in the WS, there is a photo stop the CMs make directly opposite Spaceship Earth. They allow you to get off the segways to take photos, or you can have the CMs snap a photo of you while you are on the segway with Spaceship Earth in the background. They are more than happy to do that for you!

I agree with the above poster. I don't think with a powerful lense you would beable to get a good shot. As it was stated you are in and out of the areas of the countries most of the time.

When you do stop the CM are most gracious in taking picture of you with your own camera. They took still shots for us as well as video and seemed to be no problem for them.

If you are going to try and get a shot before or after the enter and leave WS I would suggest before. When we went we entered by Mexico. The reason being there are not alot of people in that area that time of the morning as people know WS does not open until 11am. When you leave WS there are mobs of people waiting for the rope to drop and I am sure you probably could get picture but the one before would probably be better to get one with your wife.

Instruction for the Segway tour takes place in the building with Fountainview Bakery on the side facing the Land. Your DW will spend about an hour learning "Segway Skills" and then leave for the WS. That would be another time to snap her photo before she gets to Mexico. On our tour we were in a row like "ducklings." Guess they didn't want us to mow down any of the Princesses and their families

DH did this tour alone(well, with a family of 9) over the summer and he brought a camera along. They take a photo break right with SSE in the backround and other members of the group or maybe the CM(Im not sure) took some pictures of him on it.

Don't get me started on the princesses!!! We got to Epcot at about the time we needed to be inside for the tour (we got there at about 8:10am and needed to meet by Spaceship Earth at 8:15. There was only one line for everyone and there were tons of princesses there. Once they checked to make sure everyone had a PS or Segway ressie then there were two turnstiles open to process all the people. We were in the line behind the bozos who couldn't figure out which tickets to use for the day, which way to turn them, etc, etc. ARG! I nicely asked if we could go before them since we were late (by this time) to our Segway tour and the lady yelled that they had a priority seating and she wouldn't let me go first, even though they were still figuring out their tickets. lol I can laugh now!

Bottom line...get to the park at least 1/2 hour before your meeting time for the tour.
