I had a real quick visit at the Fort on 9/29/09.

Here are a few photos of some new developments.

First, the Cabin pool hot tub is coming along. I don't think there have been any photos posted of this project, so here you go:

Next up, a look at the 2000 loop (which was still had no campers on it), the 300 loop (which is re-opened, and has campers on it), and a change to the Dinner Take Out Menu at Trails End (yes, there is a change regarding the popular Giddyap and Go (!) )

Great pics, TCD. Often lurking and seldom talking!! I get my daily fix on the DIS!

Cool! That may be the hot tub to visit (although still small) with the main pool so popular.

I agree! I like how it is set back in the corner, and surrounded by a little bit of wilderness. It is too small, but hopefully it will not be as busy as the main hot tub.

The 2000 loop was empty, but there were no barricades blocking access, so I took a look around. There have been a lot of plants added. It looks good. These photos don't really do it justice. The loop looks much less barren:

Here are a few photos from the 300 loop, which was open, and had campers on it. It looks like new landscaping has been added here, and the utility connections have been painted:

Judy is back in her designated spot on the 100 loop, and is ready for Halloween:

There were already a lot of Halloween decorations up on other sites, too:

Next up, a look at the outpost golf cart parking area project.

Ok TCD, now you've got me worried about my Fried Chicken! What's going on there??

I have to save that news until last in order to build suspense. There has been a change made to the contents of the Giddyap and Go chicken dinner. But, first, let's look at the work on the golf cart parking area at the Outpost:

(I took this photo to show the lockers available at the trail ride area adjacent to the bus stop. There was a recent post asking about the availability of lockers to lock up bike helmets. These could be used for that purpose)

When have you ever let a widdle-bitty baracade get in your way anyway? LOL. I do love the rationalization though. Thanks for the pics! As always, I'm enjoying your update. The 'Giddyap and Go' suspense is killing me.

Obviously, they are just getting started, but those, "parking markers" seems like it will take away space as folks generally parked pretty tight in there. Those are really spaced out. I hope they exand the area!!

I agree. I wasn't sure at first whether these wooden posts were going to be used as wheel stops, or whether they were going to be put in the ground vertically, and perhaps be used to hold electric outlets (which would be nice to have here). But, looking at the spacing, and how these were laid out, I think they are going to be left on the ground and used as wheel stops. I also think they are spaced too far apart, and I also question the wisdom of having folks park diagonally, as they will still need to reverse direction to exit the parking area. It looks like the area is going to be expanded a bit, but not much. In my opinion if these are going to be wheel stops, they seem unnecessary, and I'll bet a lot of folks will end up tripping over them.

OK- Here's the scoop on the Giddyap and Go change. Don't worry, for the first time in history, this is a good change, not a bad one.

Here is the old menu:

ValentinesDayPresidentsDay2009175.jpg

Except for possibly the price, the Giddyap and Go has been the same for years: 10 pieces of chicken, a bunch of steak fries, a plastic container of coleslaw, and five biscuits. It is a lot of food for the money, and has always been a TCD gang favorite.

Well, when we ordered our Giddyap and Go yesterday, the hostess asked us what two sides we would like, and whether we would like biscuits or cornbread. What????

Here is the new menu:

So now, to accompany your chicken, you can now choose coleslaw, fries, mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, or beans! You can pick any two that you like! And, you can have cornbread if you prefer! Wow! Not a big deal, but note that there is no increase in the prices (shocking). This is one change that I like. We tried the "Cowboy Beans." They were good!

Trails End was busy last night. We ordered our food, and it was ready in fifteen minutes. One of the picnic tables on the porch was open, and we enjoyed our feast. There were folks all around holding beepers, waiting to get in to Trail's End. The wait for those without ADR's was an hour! We were enjoying the same food that we would be eating inside, at a fraction of the price, and we were done and gone before some of the folks waiting had been called in.

Oh, and as Des1954 previously reported, they are again displaying baked goods in he display case:

I assume these are available to be purchased, although there is nothing posted that gives prices.

Nice pictures! I've requested loop 2000 for my 12/05-12/12 trip this year, always stayed in 1500. I'm looking forward to seeing 'how the other half lives!'
I wish my yard looked like that grass, not a weed in sight.

That is a tiny hot tub but hopefully will be less busy than what I've heard on the main one at Meadows.

I gotta ask this since its puzzling me. :confused3 You stop in from time to time and check out the new stuff for us which is way cool.:woohoo: How do you get in? Do you slip someone a mickey bar to let you pass through the gate? Not asking to devulge any TCD secrets, but just curious.

By the way. You are the MAN! :worship:

Makes me wonder if they are making it a one way. It wouldn't make sense to try and back up from that angle to go back out.

I cannot disclose my trade secrets, but I will tell you this: I think I could ride up to the guard shack on a camel with a turban on my head and an Iraqi flag in one hand and a rocket launcher in the other, and the guard would welcome me in.

Thats kinda scary!:scared1: However I do get it that you either have a personal connection with the security CMs and probably due to the frequency of your visits OR you have figured a way to print your own parking passes ;)

Your secrets are safe with us :rolleyes1

Andrew I'm not sure if it's just the angle of the pictures of the cart parking at the Outpost or what, but is the old wooden shed gone? The one that used to sit right behind the bus area seating. I didn't see it.

I don't really have a secret. My point is that the guards at the Fort are not the most vigilant, but just so no one gets the wrong idea, almost all of my visits are as a registered guest, or as the visitor of a registered guest. I do not print fake parking passes or do anything else illegal.

No, that little shack has not been removed. I wonder why they keep it there, since they haven't hesitated to remove all other evidence of the railroad. But, it was definitely still there yesterday, and it doesn't look like the project is going to infringe on it.

I also have some non-Fort photos from my day trip.

Like these. I have struggled with whether or not I should post these photos, but in the interest of all humanity, I feel that I must.

First, if you are going to wear yellow sweat pants that say "Golddigger" on the butt, I suggest that either: A) not wear cheetah print underpants under them; or B) if you must wear cheetah print underpants, do not go on Splash Mountain.

Why am I telling you this?

Here's why!:

92909063.jpg

Oy! My eyes are still burning from that sight.

BTW- I am pretty sure the owner of these pants is not going to show up here on the camping boards and be embarrassed, because she was definitely European, and she is also too busy gold digging. So, we can make fun of her without feeling bad that we might be hurting her feelings.

And while I am playing fashion police, let me tell you that one of the best times to visit the MK at this time of year is late in the afternoon of a Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party night. Folks start showing up in their costumes at 4 pm. And, you never know what you are going to see. Like, this little girl in the Pocahontas costume, for example:

92909064.jpg

I thought the Halloween party was supposed to be not so scary. That Pocahontas was very, very scary.

It would be fun to just sit outside the MK entrance and watch the folks coming in for the party!
