As many of you know, i recently had cancer surgery, but wanted to get out of the house for the day.

I had rented a ECV from A Scooter 4 U. They have been great and have great customer service, I broke the key off at Knott's Berry Farm last week, and they came and fixed/repaired it shortly after I called. Ashley is a great customer service person who you will more than likely deal with.

Anyways, I left my house in West Anaheim and used the OCTA Bus system to get to the Former Arena Inn, and then took it over 9 miles all over the area, but never inside the Disneyland Secure area. Here is a marked map of my voyage...

My main focus was taking photos of many of the sites for the over 14 new Hotels in the works...

Disney owned 4th Hotel
JW Marriott
Anabella property
Anaheim Plaza property
Quality Inn on Manchester Property
Park Vue Inn total rebuild
Staybridge Suites on Ball (former Restaurant near the Ball CM Parking Lot)
Element - Former Bergstrom Property
Cambria - Former Flakey Jake property
Hampton - former Arena Inn property
The proposed Hotel(s) on the property near the Olympic Training Complex (Just east of I-5 on Anaheim Blvd)
Proposed Nickelodeon Hotel in Garden Grove just south of the Sheraton on Harbor in Garden Grove.
LT Platinum Center Hotel next to Angel Stadium.
Hotel Stanford in Buena Park
Aloft Hotel in Buena Park

(I plan to cover the Buena Park area tomorrow)

So Photos and short videos of those (make sure and read the comments for more info), along with some Eastern Gateway projects photos, work on the House of Blues at the AGW, the Convention Center Expansion, and then a look at the Star Wars Land project from the parking structure and on Disneyland Drive (ground level).

Here is the link to the large album from today...

Hope you enjoy the look around the area, and feel free to ask any questions about them and/or more info on the Hotels mentioned above.

Great pics! Especially since I am freezing my butt off in Northern Canada. So what's going on at the Park Vue?

A planned total demolishing and remodel.

And if you want the fine details, here is a link of the official filing for zoning approval, including conceptional art and blueprints. (Starts at Page 373, and ends at page 508 of the nearly 700 page pdf.)

The city council just passed a resolution to help the owners get financing, and I presume they are waiting to see the final outcome of the Eastern Gateway filing before moving forward.

Could start as early as this fall, but then, Disney was hoping to start its project and is held up. So no firm date, and if the financing falls through, well, nothing major will change. But looks like they will do it and have it finished to time with the opening off the new Eastern gateway and Star Wars Land.

Nice to see you're out and about, here's wishing you a speedy recovery! Thanks for the photos!! As usual, you are a wealth of information. Thanks for keeping us updated.

Is Pizza Press moving to the Garden Walk then? It says 1700 S Harbor, and a quick search made it seem like it was going in the Garden Walk.

Thanks for the heads up. I guess I will book somewhere else for December. Hope your feeling better.

Hi DarkBeer. Hope you are well on your way to a speedy recovery!
Thanks so much for this info - was very interesting to have a look thru all your photos and the map also.
I was under the impression they had already knocked down the Carousel but doesn't look like they have from your photos.
We are not coming till Sept and I have 3 hotels on hold with a view to seeing closer to our trip which is going to be least impacted by the upcoming changes so will be keeping a close eye on your very informative posts, as I have been over the last few months, as to the goings on.
Best wishes for your ongoing recuperation : )

We have reservations at the Park Vue for the beginning of June. Any idea if they will be starting any construction by then?

No, they are moving to the lobby of the Anaheim Plaza Hotel, at the South East Corner of Harbor and Disney Way. (Next door to AGW).

I seriously doubt it, they will want to get enough money into the bank before they close. (After the busy Summer Break period). Plus I think they will want to wait at least a few months after they officially announce the date). Since the city council just pased the resolution a couple of weeks ago that was holding up the financing, i presume the owners are currently looking for the best deal to make the project happen. And also waiting to see the final approved design of the Eastern Gateway to make sure they have good access to the Security Check area.

With the way things are going with the Eastern Gateway Project, they might not start until 2018.

But to the city, they can close tomorrow and start the demo.

A lot has to be done to a property before Demo can happen, including removing hazardous material. Also the Pizza Press has a lease through April. And that Disney hasn't gotten final approval by the city (both the planning commission and the city council).

I presume it will start in late spring, early summer.

Thanks, Darkbeer1! You are such a great source of information! :flower3:

We are really early risers and like to nap in the middle part of the day, so I would definitely not want to stay at a motel with construction going on. Not to mention, the aesthetics of a construction site is not very relaxing.

We're planning a trip for July 5-10 which includes a two year old (so we'll want to be able to take naps during the day, and we'd like a suite so he can go to bed before the rest of us) and a person with limited mobility (which also makes us want to be close). But if we're too close to daytime construction noise, that will be a big problem for naps. Any thoughts on a place that is close to the Esplanade, has suites, and is likely to not have nearby construction (from the Park Vue, the Eastern Gateway, etc) come July?
