can someone please try to talk me into buying the cd, or even using the photopass period?

i love all things disney, and i want to love this photopass, because i cant believe there is something so widely used that i want no part in, lol. but really tell me why, i dont understand the logic behind it. as far as i can see you get this photopass for free, then you have cast members take you pictures(and from what ive seen theyre nothing special, they arent professionals) then you buy this cd for $125 so that you can have the right to buy your own pictures, or you can just buy these pictures at ridiculously outragous prices.

what am i missing here? i usually just give the CM my camera so we can get group pictures.

If you're happy giving the CM your camera, then you're fine!

I'm not OK with giving a CM my camera, I'd rather they use their own. Then I can go online and edit in little borders and signatures and such, and it's fun.

There is NO need for you to pay the full price though, you can easily find the link for the pre-purchase price for the CD.

Next time you're at WDW or DLR, try it out. Go to a photopass photographer, have them take your pictures, they'll scan a card for you and give you the card, and just have your pictures taken through your trip (you can even have them take pictures with your camera as well if you'd like). Check out the pictures at the photo centers or if you bring a laptop with you check them out there, see if you like them!

If you do, see if you like the edits you can do. If you like those, buy the CDs or prints or whatever.

Even if you pre-purchase, if you get back and didn't want the CD anymore you can simply request a refund and you'll get it as long as you didn't order the CD.

Also, the right to print the pictures is HUGE. When you order a print from them for 12.95 for a 5x7, you do NOT get the right to copy it. You get that print and that's it. When you get the CD, you get the rights to make prints of it, as many as you like (for non-commercial purposes). Just like a normal wedding photographer, they own the photos, and giving you the rights to make prints is kind of a big deal.

You can pre-purchase for 99.95. No one in the family has to be left out, and in my opinion, some of our pictures were priceless.

DD will never ever forget her "special day".......

oh well, possibly im unconvinceable. even at $100 i cant see buying the cd. i have no problem giving a cm my camera, been doing it that way for years.
i usually take upwards of about 300 pictures while there every year. to get them costs me enough as it is, but then to have to buy them twice(pay for the cd, then pay for the picture), i just couldnt do it.
i wouldnty slepn 12.95 on a 5x7, but im sure if i did i would just scan it and make as many copies as i wanted.

Like I mentioned, if you're happy giving the CM your camera so you're in all the shots, then there's no reason. Others aren't. :)

Quality you'd get scanning and printing that pic wouldn't be all that great, but if that would make you happy (and you know that most photo places wouldn't be able to do it for you), that's fine. I won't even print ONE picture of my own on my printer, I just don't like the quality of home-printed pictures, so that woudln't work for me. We're still saving (slowly) to buy the CD and release of our wedding pictures, b/c I won't spent 40 bucks for a set of 2 5x7s (bought the album, but do want prints someday!), so I'm more than happy to get all those pix and the release for 80 bucks (it's less expensive for disneyland resort photopass). :)

This past Christmas, we had the entire family at Disney. While there everyone had their own photopass card. On the final day I collected all the cards and went to the photopshop at DHS and had a CD made. We had 352 photos taken between us all. Out of all those pictures only 5 were out of focus and not usable.

My wife and I just returned from one week at DLR and 10 days at WDW. During all that time, we used photopass. I was able to have all of our DLR pictures and WDW pictures combined on to one CD at DHS. In all, we had 223 pictures from both resorts.

IMO I think getting a CD made from your photopases is wonderful. I works well for us since we have so many pictures made by the photopass photographers. You can print as many of the pictures and give them to whoever you want.

I don't know how you feel about the Photo Pass Shares on the Budget Boards, but you can get in on one and pay less than $20...and get all the same pics and enhancements.

I loved getting the photo pass CD and being able to print what ever pictures I wanted in what ever size I wanted. We tried to get as many pictures put on it so we would "get our moneys worth" by buying the CD and then I added all the borders and signatures.

Where can you get the pre-order code? We are going in October and I definately want to use the PhotoPass again. This time I want to get even more pictures on it.

Thanks for the link. I never knew there was a pre-order discount. :cool1: How soon before your trip do you order it? We aren't going until October (4 months from today :woohoo: ) Can't wait to see the mouse!

I ordered mine about 2 or 3 weeks ago for our August 23 trip. Basically you pay for it and they send you an email with a code that you need to use after your trip. When you get home and log onto the photopass website, you include the code and it shows you've already paid. Also, don't know if you're aware, but you can also make a reservation (only 30 days out though) with a Disney photog to have pictures taken at one of the participating resorts and also have them added to your photopass account. I believe, if you have pre-paid for your photopass that the fee is $25, instead of $45 (I could be wrong about the amounts, but I think that's close).

In received it the code, I believe within 2 or 3 days.
