Hello,

Sorry is this is posted elsewhere, but I can't find it. I'm trying to see how much it is to purchase the PhotoCD and cannot find it on the disneyphotopass.com website at all. I e-mailed and they said it is $124.95, but no other options (I had read it is cheaper if you pre-purchase). We're going in May, so if it's cheaper I would like to do that, but it's hard to find this info on the website (impossible!). Anyone have any pointers :confused3

It's $99 if you pre-order the cd: http://www.disneyphotopass.com/previsitcdplan.aspx

If you can find a group to join through the boards of people going around the same time as you, it's much cheaper. I am in a group for May that costs $21 per person. I think they get posted on the budget board as well.

EMAW, thanks for the tip! Question, when I look at this link and view the "more tips" section it gives all the info on WDW. Does this PhotoPass link for DL too? Sorry if it's a stupid question. I'm a long time vet at WDW but going for my first DL trip in March!

just to add to this origonal post. what is a photopass? is it all the pictures that are taken of you at disneyland on a disc? how do you go about sharing with someone..does each person sharing get their own CD

Even though all the info about photopass is WDW-centric, it's at DLR too.

TwinsRmyLife, photopass at its most basic is a service Disney provides. They have photographers and these cards that they give you. You have a picture taken (or two or 8), they scan those pictures to that card's identification number. You take that card, see another photographer, they take pictures of you, scan the number again.

At the end of your stay, you can go and order prints of some pictures (at about 12.95 for one 5x7 and similar prices for bigger prints), or you can get a CD that contains the digital images, and includes the "license" to print them as you wish. This, if you've ever hired a professional photographer, is a pretty big deal.

If you decide to order it after you get back home, it would be 124.95, but you can edit your pictures online, adding fun borders, adding character signatures as appropriate, etc.

If you want that CD with the plain pictures in your hands as you leave, you can buy it at the parks, and it's 59.95. No editing online, but you still get the license, and if you're good with photo editing software, it's quite a value!

If you plan to get the CD of all of your pictures, and wish to save a buck, you can use the link above to pre-order the CD at 99.95. This is the same CD as you could buy later for 124.95, with the allowance to edit the pictures. The shipping of the CD to you is included in the cost (either 99.95 or 124.95).

Each time you edit a picture, it saves the edit as a copy. So one picture, depending on how many borders you like, could turn into 2, 3, 6...it just adds copies, so you can end up with bunches of pictures!

See my Trip Reports, the ends of them, for examples of the pictures and borders you can get with photopass at DLR. (the Jack Sparrow border is just on there, it's not something I added)

Yep it's in Disneyland as well. I think the park maps have the typical photopass locations listed on them.

Yes, if you do a photopass share one person organizes it, orders the cd and then makes a copy for everyone.

Molly--I also posted a similar question on the Ladies only thread, but know that you have the 4-1-1 on this--when I go online to my photopass account, it says I can order it for $79.95 BUT it also says only the photos already in my account will be on it. Well, I only have about three photos now--but was hoping to "pre-order" the CD for my trip later this month with my Mom. My question is whether I can order the CD now or do I have to wait until after the trip? I'm very confused--help! Is there a separate "pre-order screen" from the regular CD order screen?

The pre-order page is on the page linked to earlier in this thread. I haven't yet found a way to access it while looking around the actual photopass site.

When the Dis'er made a post the other day about the 80 bucks CD I noticed too that it was for photos in the account already. I personally don't trust that it'll still be there for my visit, so I'm not putting hopes into it. And I don't know if there's a way to finagle it.

Because as far as I know when you buy it (not pre-order, but actually BUY) you're doing it right then and there with whatever's in your account. I don't think there's a way to buy it and then say "oh wait there's another card or another trip" and put the ordering process on hold. If that makes sense.

Thanks so much for all the info! I used the link and it is there for $99.95 - better than $124.95. I'll take whatever savings I can get :yay: That's a couple smacks saved for souvenirs at Disneyland

Yes--it makes absolute sense and that is why I didn't go ahead and order it now . . . maybe I'll wait until after the trip, add the photos and see if the deal is still there?

Thanks EMAW!

And bumbershoot (love to know what that name means, it's just too cool :) ) I had to go check out your photo pass pictures. They are fantastic, and I love the borders! Much cooler then the last few we got at WDW, including the xmas ones. And your little one is adorable. Especially the one with Belle, love that look on his face!

Hmm, maybe we'll head to DL for xmas this year instead.....

A bumbershoot is an umbrella. :) It is also the name of a big festival in Seattle around Labor Day every year. Oddly, I don't much care for that festival, b/c I can go to the FolkLife festival over Memorial Day weekend, see some of the same bands, buy from the same vendors, but FL is on a donation basis while Bumbershoot is scads of money. But FolkLife as a username is just too odd! :rotfl:

Thanks for the picture compliments! I liked the borders, too. I wish I had more of the Halloweentime borders, but I was a bit clueless when doing them as part of the photopass share in Sept. I got too focused on how unhappy I was with how I looked, and coudn't "get over" myself to have super-fun with the borders. Oh well! The xmas time pix I had fun with. :)

I just thought I would mention that the Photopass photographers were always happy to take pictures of us using our personal camera too. We took plenty of pictures on our own camera, but of course the person taking the picture is always missing from the picture. So we occasionally had them take a Photopass picture of all of us along with a copy on our personal camera. If you plan of using the Photopass as your main source of pictures then buying the CD is worthwhile. If you plan on using them to get one or 2 copies of something you can’t otherwise get on your own, then just checking on-line after you get home could be fine.

And the photographers do a great job of composing the pictures, they were fun to deal with.

I don't think the 124.95 includes shipping, but I can't remember how much the shipping cost is (12.95?). The 99.95 DOES include shipping.

Ooh, exciting news!!! I just heard back from the Disney Photo Imaging Support Team and the price for the PhotoCD for Disneyland is $79.95 (not prepurchase). The pre-purchase price is for both Disneyland and Disney World ($99.95), but the $124.95 is the WDW price, which is higher than the Disneyland price, for whatever reason. It's $20 cheaper to purchase the CD AFTER you go and have the PhotoPass ID number to enter than it is to pre-purchase the CD :cheer2:

I just discovered this today as I was going to go ahead and order mine from our trip after I had already pre-purchased while we were on our trip. So, now I'm going to have to call and get a refund and just order the CD right from the website. Shipping is $2.95, but after all that it's still a bunch cheaper than the pre-purchased price. I think it might be because there aren't as many photo ops in DL with the photopass as there are in WDW maybe?

Apparently this is a permanent change and they are going to be revising the pre-purchase price "in the near future" to reflect the difference - meaning it will be cheaper to pre-purchase the Disneyland PhotoCD the same as it is cheaper to pre-purchase the WDW CD. Right now the pre-purchases are the same price, but it's cheaper to just order the Disneyland one - so I'll wait :cool1:

I sent in a request for a refund of my $99 and they said I already used my code? I didn't order the CD yet, so how could I have used the code?! So, now I'm waiting to hear if I am out the CD AND the money or what the deal is. Argh.
