We are going with another couple so we want to share photopass. Can they get their own card so when we split up they can still get pics taken and download them? Any tips? Excited to try it out.

You need the actual PP+ card for ride photos and character meal packages. Otherwise a regular PhotoPass can be added for shots around the park. For ride photos, if you write down the number it can be added later that day if you take the card back to the ride.

The regular photopass cards are free. You get them from the Disney Photographers when they take your pic. You can get an unlimited number of these free cards.

PhotoPassPlus (PP+) is not free. You either pre-order a voucher or buy at the photo shop. You pay for each PP+ card.
If you have one PP+ card for your group and the group splits up, you can get pics taken and placed on the regular card.
Once you are back together, go to a photo shop and have the pics on the regular card transferred to the PP+ card.

If some of your group have a ride photo taken and they don't have the PP+ card with them, they need to get the photo number.
You can go back later to the ride photo center and have the ride photo added to the PP+ card.

Last time we used the PP+ card, all ride photos had to be added to the card at the ride's photo center. They couldn't be added at the photo shop.

So as long as we get the photo number we should be good? Can we just add the photo numbers on the account when we get home cause that seems like a lot of running back and forth to the photo shop. It seems like DW photopass is a lot slicker with magic bands.

No, you have to go back to the ride's photo kiosk. There's no other way to add ride photos. You could split the cost of one PP+ and one Attractions+, which would work if you only split up into 2 groups when going on those rides. There are only 3 rides in DCA and 2 in DL that do ride photos (Buzz are emailed, not added to PP+), so you could just plan to do those as a group.

It sure seems like Photopass at WDW is a better deal. I've used it many times with other family members splitting the cost. I will be in Disneyland in 3 days at the same time as my brothers family. I pre-purchased the Photopass + thinking we could split the cost and all use it. I guess I'll have to see what my options are when I get there. It's weird to me that I have to go get a card from a photo shop. Sounds like DLR could take a few pointers from WDW on this...

I'd try taking a clear photo of the barcode on the photopass and showing it on your phone at the rides - my bet is they'll be able to scan the barcode off your phone and you won't have to bother going back and forth.

Does anyone know if you still get the nice printed copies of your photos from Character meals with PP+ at DL? When we went in 2012 those pictures alone paid for the cost of our PP+. I had already paid out of pocket for 3 or 4 of them. Then when in the photo shop at DCA, the CM told me I could bring in my receipts & have the cost of those pictures deducted from the price of the PP+. It was amazing. But, they discontinued those at WDW & you only get the digital copy now. So, I'm worried they may have also done that at DL.

You do not have to go to the photo shops to have the regular Photo Pass photos added to Photo Pass Plus. Just log into your Photo Pass account and add them there. Then any time someone uses that card the photos will automatically be added to the account. We do this regularly as oldest DD will sometimes take the younger ones while DH and I take a break. One of us has the Photo Pass Plus and the other carries the regular Photo Pass (or uses our AP). If you don't have a Photo Pass card on you, just ask the photographer and they will give you another and then just add it to your account online. You can do this at home when you get back (as long as it's in the 14 day time period) but we prefer to do it while still there in case any photos go missing, it's easier to find them while still in the parks. I keep a running list on my phone of where and when photos were taken just in case.

For ride photos, yes, you do have to go back to the ride and have them added. We usually trade the PP+ back and forth for this or simply snap a pic of the photo # and stop in real quick the next time we're near the ride and have them added. As long as it's within 24hrs you should be good. It's not really a big deal.

The last time I was there they would not scan photo passes from the phone. I have heard that some will so it's very much your mileage may vary, it's not something I would count on. I do keep pics of the photo pass #'s on my phone in case they get lost or misplaced. Sure would be nice if there "was an app for that."

As far as I know you still get the prints for a character meal with Photo Pass Plus.

I think PP+ is absolutely worth the price, especially if you pre order. If you want one ride photo from each ride that has them it's already paid for itself. Add in a character meal or two and all the photo spots around the parks and you're way ahead IMO.

When we went inn and hen pictures From Ariel and goofy's where giving to us. Both times I had to tell them it was free because they tried to charge me, but they appologized and said yes you have the photopass and took the pictures away and came back with them and they were giving free. I think you get one large frame one and four smaller ones, I will say like 1 5x7 and 4 4x6. We also got all the ride ones.

Be forwarned they have done away with some, or maybe they never offered them at DL and did at wdw, they do not offer pictures when the little one is getting her hair done at BBB, they also do not offer the ones after wards in the carriage, on the photo pass plus, you can pay for the one in the carriage seperate, but you will not get the ones with her hair being done at all. There where a few other things I remember getting at WDW that did not come with DIL but can't remember what.

I am deciding if it is worth it for our april trip. I did it in jan and got a lot. And I know I want it in aug when both girls come, but I am like is it worth it for our April trip.

So to clarify:

I could get the PP+ online in advance and when we get there, DH could get a free PP and then we could add the two together while we're at the park AND up to 14 days later?

Do they charge extra for the little additions (like Tinkerbell on your hand for example) and borders?

The PP+ includes all rides that have photos (but I have to get them added afterward at the ride kiosk), the princesses at the castle m&g, A&E m&g, and character meals, but I would pay extra at the BBB for the carriage picture (we're doing the full meal deal).

Are the PP photographers at character lines, or is that up to us to get a photo for those times when we're interacting with characters?

Not to hijack the thread but say I preorder the Photo Pass +, I have to get it activated in the parks before it is valid, correct? What if the night I arrive we're having dinner at Goofy's but haven't yet been in the park. How do they handle those photos at the dinner since they are free if you have photo pass +. Do I have to pay that evening and then get a refund the next day in the park? Or are we just out of pocket for any pictures the night before we activate the card? Just curious.

14 days total from when the PP+ is activated. When you preorder (14 days in advance at least) they will send you a DVD like case that has a voucher for PP+ taped to the outside, sometimes loose in the package and code on the inside to claim your pics later. You take the voucher to one of the photo shops inside the parks. They give you the PP+ on a lanyard and punch a hole in the card for your start date. You have 14 days for pics on the PP+ and any regular PP pics added to that account. You have 30 days to claim the photos but only 14 days of pics to add to them to PP+. So say your trip is 5 days. You come home on day 6, you have 8 days left to add the regular PP cards and 24 days left to order the CD or download. I personally would not wait to get home to add these to my account. It's very easy to just do on a break, at the end of the day or even on your phone while you're having lunch or waiting for a show.

I have no experience with BBB but I always thought those were included as well. Might be worth going to the PP site to check out. Any M&G that has a PP photographer will be added as long as you hand over the card. I've found that the photogs go above and beyond when you hand them a PP+ card. I still take pics during interaction and any CM on hand is willing to use your camera as well. (obviously these don't get added to the card) Some M&G don't always have PP photogs so it's always advisable to have your own camera. There is no extra charge for magic shots.

Awesome info! Thank you!
You are welcome. :goodvibes I also wanted to add that if you don't already have a Photo Pass account you should go ahead and set it up before you leave so that you can add your PP+ right away. I have found that doing this it's easier to check and make sure you aren't missing pics periodically while you're there. It's much easier going to the photoshop when it's still fresh in your mind where/when particular photos were taken verses calling them and trying to find them later.

I have 6 months, so I'll do it most likely in August as it takes a while for mail to get up to the GWN (where we're enjoying the driest winter on record).
