Ok, here is the definition of Photopass from Wikipedia:

Disney's PhotoPass is a system used at Disney theme parks where digital pictures taken by professional photographers are linked to a free card containing a barcode and serial number. Guests can view or purchase PhotoPass pictures at select locations in the parks or online by registering the card's PhotoPass number.

Currently the service is available at Walt Disney World Resort, Disneyland Resort and World of Disney in New York.

The PhotoPass service also is being integrated with photos captured aboard attractions such as Test Track at Epcot. Instead of standing in line to view and purchase photos taken on the attraction, guests can access them online as an alternative.


OK, so my question is, if its linked to a "free card," what am I worring about paying the $100 online for?? What is that money for? I just don't get it!!!!!!!!

You can view the pics online but you cant save them or have them printed anywhere.

The pre-ordering online is for the photopass CD. The photopass CD is an option that gives you every image taken by a photopass photographer and the rights to those images so you can have them printed anywhere, such as Walmart. Without buying the CD, you can buy individual prints, either at the parks or from home online. the CD option is more cost effective for some, especially if you are wanting to buy more than $125 worth of prints.

The $99 deal is what you are refering to...you can pre0order your CD before you enter your photopass barcode numbers. It doesn't have to be before your trip, just before you input your numbers.

Does that help? We baought the photopass CD from our 2006 trip and I have pre-ordered for our October trip.

Ahhhhh, I see said the blind man.... anyway.... thanks so much for clarifying that one. One more question.... if you don't buy the CD (or the rights, its not like the CD costs $99!) how much are the prints?

Thats so funny - I was already at that site, but I didn't really pay attention. Thanks so much, it really was very informative! I'll have to talk to DH about ordering it tonight, and see what he says. I'd want to order it soon since the rumer is that it will be going up in price after the end of this month.
