Photo Gallery CD Thread*MAJOR CHANGE ON PP PRICING WITH WDW & DLR. See post #303-

Is it still the case that the Photopass CDs in Disneyland are cheaper? I just went on the Photopass website and it states that it costs $149.95 and it said nothing about this being for WDW. I was intending to pre-order to save some money, but from what was said here, I don't need to.

Yes, it is still $59.95 for the Disneyland Photopass CD. I had just sent en email to their customer service about it a few weeks ago. I guess when you register your Disneyland Photopass cards the price will be adjusted. So no need to pre-order.

Exactly. Once you enter a DLR PP card number the price will drop to $59.95. There's no need to pre-buy, and there isn't even an option for DLR.

Thanks for the clarification on Florida. Makes sense now. :goodvibes

Thanks for the information. This makes me very happy. I have never got my head around Photopass before, but decided that I will make this work this time round. Not only is it nice that it is cheaper, but this also gives me the option to make sure that I have enough photos to justify the CD before committing myself.

I am going to DLR tomorrow and I will try to found out if the new Gallery CDs are in yet. I will post here upon my return.

Thanks for checking! I will be at DL in less than a month so I am thinking about heading over to WDW to get some specialty shots taken that I don't usually bother with so they will all be on the same CD!

I checked at the PP store and the new Photo Gallery Cds are not in yet. They did confirm that they would be new pictures but no idea of when to expect them in. :confused3

Thanks for the update. If it's not available this time, maybe I can get one when I am back out there in January.

I'm sorry. I have never used the Photobass and I'm confused. We are going to DL in Oct and WDW in Jan. Would I be able to just get one CD for all of my pictures?

Well...maybe. If you are going in say late Oct. to DLR and then early Jan. in WDW it just might work. Here's how:

Say you start getting PP pictures taken on Oct. 25th (random date I just picked) that means you will have to upload your prints on the website by Nov. 24th-(you have 30 days from the date pictures are taken to upload them on the website to your account).

Then you have another 30 days from the date you upload them until they start disappearing from your account. Meaning you would have to do all your edits/enhancments, and place your order, by Dec.24th. But wait, that doesn't cover your January trip, right? Here's how you can do that....

Disney lets you extend your ordering window by either 7 or 15 days, if you'll pay a little more. 7 days is $4.95 and 15 days is $9.95. While I've never done more than one extension, it's been reported that you can continue to extend your ordering date more than once (unlimited even?).

Therefore if you pay $9.95 you will have until Jan. 8th to order your CD. If your WDW trip is before that date then that would do it (assuming you get your edits done). If not, extend it again for another 15 days and you will have until Jan. 23rd. to order. And so on....

If your trip to DLR is in early Oct. and your trip to WDW is late Jan. then you might want to look to see if you would be saving any money after. Basically based on the DLR CD pricing, you could extend your combined order 6 times before it would cost you more than ordering each CD separately.

Now, since you are going to WDW last you will have to pay the WDW price. The current price is $149.95 but if you preorder BEFORE YOU HAVE ANY PICTURES TAKEN you only pay $99.95. That means you will need to pre-order your WDW CD before you have any pictures taken at DLR. This is very important.

The DLR PP CD is $59.95, no pre-order needed, or available.

Worst case scenario is if your Oct and Jan dates are too far apart then you will pay $59.95 for the DLR one and $99.95 for the WDW one (total about $160) Hopefully your dates will work out and you can combine them.

Best case scenario is that your dates will work without extensions. Then you pay only $99.95. With one 15 day extension, $110, 2 extensions $120, etc.

Hopefully this makes sense, if not, feel free to ask more questions here or send me a PM.

If you want to post your dates, I'll do the math for you. ;)

I've been reading through this post, but wondering if all the "deals" still apply now. I am going to WDW this week. We plan on using photopass (we've already prepurchased it for $99 before finding this thread), but I'm an AP at DL and will surely go to DL after returning the first part of September. If I understand everything correctly, after returning from WDW, I can go to DL and buy the gallery CD with my AP discount. With that CD, I'll get a promotion code. I can then go home and order online a photopass CD, enter the promotion code from my gallery CD to get the photo cd for $0, since I went to DL last. I can then apply for a refund of the $99? I can then enter my photopass cards from both WDW and DL, and get the gallery and all my photopass pictures from both resorts for just the price of the gallery CD. Is this still correct?

Yes. As long as the new Photo Gallery CD has the coupon in it. We won't know for sure until it goes on sale. Plus you will get your AP discount on the Gallery CD from the store. Depending on your AP, it will cost you between $52 and $58. That inc. standard shipping as well (at least the last coupon did)

If it doesn't you can still get both your WDW and DLR PP pix on the same order and only pay the DLR price ($59.95 plus around $3 S&H). We do this all the time. We go in Sept. or early Oct. and then I visit DLR after our WDW trip to get some DLR taken to set the pricing to DLR. I have done this for many years now. Of course, Disney could change this at any time but hopefully they don't.

The last one I did like that was in May/June of this year. My DSis and her DH went to WDW in May and I put their WDW pix on my DLR CD order. I think I have been doing this (WDW & DLR combined) for about 4 years now. I even did it when I was running CD Shares (when allowed on the boards) and I made a special trip to DLR one time to get a few DLR pix taken to reset the price.

As long as DLR photos are the last ones you have taken it will work. And, of course, you keep an eye on your 30 day window. Since as an APH you probably go to DLR often, what I like to do is maximize my CD usage. I will upload my first photos (either from WDW or DLR) on the 30th day and then I will order my CD on the next 30th day. This way I get 60 days of photos on the CD. This way I can even get a few early holiday photos (and definitely Halloweentime ones) on my WDW Fall trip CD.

Let me know if you have any more questions and if you go to DLR and see the new Gallery CD could you let me know? TIA.;)

The first time I pre-ordered the CD and then combined my trips I did wait to request my refund until after I made sure it worked. Just in case. You can do the same and if for some reason Disney changes it between now and your trips, the most you will pay is $99.95, for both WDW and DLR.:thumbsup2

ADDED-Just noticed that you are going to HP at US. I would love to heard about your experience. My DD11 would love to go when we go in Oct. She is a huge HP fan! We didn't go last year since I read it was super crowded.

Just seeing the word HP gets me so excited xD. I went last year when it was super crowded, so I couldn't really give you a crowd report. But I must say, the area is absolutely stunning, and I can't wait to go back. I'm sure they've added little bits and pieces since the last movies, so it'll be interesting to see what new tidbits there are. She'll definitely enjoy it!

Sorry for the off topic-ness. I honest to goodness came to the thread to see if there were any updates in regards to the gallery cds. Trip in less than 30 days!!!

Just got back from DLR and I checked in the PP store. First person I asked didn't know what the Photo Gallery CD was, second person said "Yes we have those" :goodvibes However, 3rd person said no we haven't gotten them in yet. I asked if she knew if the coupon would be included, she said she thought so. I asked if there were new pictures, like from WoC, she brought out a notebook that showed the photos and there were no WoC ones. They may have been all the same ones. Not sure, but no WoC.:confused3

I'll check next time I go and report back. I'm sure they'll show up sometime.;)

I am so confused about this photopass cd. It's been a good 20 years since I've been to DL and they didn't have this when we visited.

It is a certainty that I will want to get all the pictues that are taken with our photopass and if the gallery cd has great pictures then I will want that too since they will have shots on there that I can't get.

We will be there the end of October. Does it matter if I preorder the photopass cd or not? Should I get the gallery cd while I'm there and will there still be a coupon for the photopass cd?

Any tips?

Thanks,

Robin

As far as I understand it, you cannot pre-purchase the Photopass CD for Disneyland. This is only possible for Walt Disney World, whered the Photopass CD is also significantly more expensive.

PP is right. You can't pre-order your DLR CD, only the WDW one. The DLR one is $59.95.

As far as the coupon for the free CD being in the new Gallery Photo CD when it finally arrives, no one knows for sure. The CMs think it will be included, but until it finally arrives, who knows?

I will continue to check at the store when we go and report back. Hopefully we can go one night this week-maybe Wednesday?

Does this mean that it will only cost $59.95 for the photocd containing all the photos that they take of us over the 3 days, and we don't have to preorder it? I don't know why they don't give more info about price on the disney site.

Yes, the DLR Photopass CD with all your pictures, inc. your edits done online, is only $59.95 plus shipping (less than $3).

The reason you probably can't find it on their site online (easily) is if you haven't entered any cards it will automatically give you the price for WDW or if the last cards you have entered are from WDW, it will also show the WDW pricing. The DLR pricing doesn't show up until you enter a DLR card #.

Since my last card entered was from DLR my CD shows up as $59.95. Don't worry. Once you enter a DLR number the price will change.

Note-I may be going to DLR tomorrow after school and if so I will stop in at the PP store and see if the new Gallery CDs are in, what the price is, and if there is still a coupon for a free Photopass CD.

We're leaving WDW today :sad1: but I wanted to report on HP. It was FABULOUS. It was not crowded. There were NO lines to get into HP like was reported last year. Everyone just walked in and out at will--like any normal "land". We didn't have early entry, so we went "left" and did the rest of IofA first (members on a HP crowd report thread reported that in the morning it wasn't crowded either) and then got to HP mid-afternoon. The main ride--Forbidden Journey--was 20 minutes (actually not long enough for us to take all the pictures we wanted of the castle while going through), and the other rides were 5 minutes. My children and I are all big HP fans, and we were not disappointed. The whole "world" was created extremely well--and the butterbeers are delicious! We went back for part of the day on 2 other days, and FJ was never more than 20 minutes (except the time it broke down while we were in line :sad1:) and Hogmeade is busy but not really crowded. It's totally manageable. If you ever get a chance to go I would highly recommend it.
