My family and I will be going on the Wonder cruise in a few weeks. We would like to have our photo taken on the cruise or castaway cay and convert to Christmas Cards. Now does Shutters do that?? I thought i read somewhere that they do. Can anyone corfirm that?
How does it work? Do i tell the photographer before hand??

Thanks!!

Melinda

Indeed they do!
We have had it done for two years now. You don't have to know in advance...you just select from any of the photos that you have taken on board and let them know. There are several designs to choose time.

We are going in April '05, do you think they will offer the Christmas cards that far in advance of Christmas? It would be really nice to get my Christmas cards out of the way!

Does anyone know the cost of the Christmas Cards? I need to figure that into my budget too!

Thanks

I don't remember the cost, but they did indeed start offering them all year round now so you can get them no matter when you sail and save them for the next year.

We just had our Christmas cards done on the 9-27 Western Magic and they have different size packages; I think approximately 25 for $24.99 and 50 for $39.99 (these are close figures, please don't quote me).
Hope that helps!

Thank you........that price sounds great. I was expecting a lot higher. I will need 50 so I can figure between 40 - 50 dollars for that.

I really hope they will be offering them when we cruise April 9!!

Hope

If we chose Castaway Cay pictures for our cards will we get them back before we disembark? I love the thought of a tropical picture on a Christmas card!!

If you didn't get your cards done when you were onboard, here is the site to print off a release from the company that runs Shutters, allowing you to make reprints of their photos.

I haven't seen the Christmas cards that Shutters does, so I don't know if they are "Disneyish", with characters in the design. So, you might be missing out on that, but with the release it is still nice to be able to get the cards and/or reprints made at a lower cost.

Do you think i may be better off using my own Digital Camera and have someone take the picture of us at CC and get them printed at home to Christmas Cards???

A lot of families did that on our cruise -- we did it also. We took turns with our friends taking pictures with their camera while the Shutters photographer took their pictures, and then they took ours. If you have a digital you know you can depend on, and you get great reprints from, go for it. I still have not mastered the art of decent sized reprints without a grainy quality to them, so I bought a lot of the Shutters photos.

Thanks Grumpy's mom....

I see if i like shutters, if not, i use mine and do it at home.....

Hi Melinda:wave:

I'd be tempted to order them from Shutters since you're only getting home a couple of weeks before Christmas. If you have questions about them, check with Piglet33 (Renee) - I know she got hers onboard last month. Do up your mailing labels on your PC before your trip and then just stick them on the envelopes when you get home!

One less thing to stress about during the holidays ... JMHO.

mississaugamom - you're right, I got ours last month. I wound up buying 100 cards. I think that was only $49.95 or $59.95. That was cheaper than what I could get them for here. They came out great. There are 3 different backgrounds to choose from.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Do you mind me asking how large the cards are? Are they postcard photos or are they just the photo that you can enclose is a card?

Thanks!

Maureen

The one I got was the size of a legal envelope. Not sure if they are all they size. Also it is flat, not open like you would with a card.

Edited to add they did supply envelopes also.

Thanks for the info. Sounds great! If we are on a four night are you able to order them and have them sent to you or are they available before departing?

Thanks for your time!

Maureen

We had shutters do them for us each of the last two years.....we sailed the week after Thanksgiving. We had last years at CC in front of the snowmen and the year before we used a pic in front of the ship.....We're doing them again this year.......our only regret the last two years.........we didn't order enough!!!

We had our cards done by Shutters on our cruise last January. They are great, at a good price and I doubt they could done nearly as well on a home computer.

My only problem is ...... where did I store those things!!

When we go again this January we'll order them again.

Mine were also the size of a legal size envelope. I can't wait to send them out.
