Here are a few photos i took yesterday using my new sony n1, this is the first time i have used it, all pictures are done using the camera and no editing.

Could people please give me there opinions and maybe some advice on what to do different?

Help is apreciated.

they seem sharp, especially the giraffe's head...you might want to use a fill flash( sorry not familiar at all with your camera) or something for the tigers since the head area is a little dark but i'm sure you can lighten it up in processing...

this wasn't at the toledo zoo was it? i know they have white tigers there

All the pictures were taken at West Midlands Safari Park in the UK. I used my new sony n1 to take the photos, its basically a point and shoot, i didnt use flash on any of the shots as the majority was taken outside. But by the look of some, they may need a little more light in on the subject. I may try and make the photos a little better in photoshop CS2 when i have some time, then i might send them of to be processed.

I'd say they were pretty good but the giraffe might have been better had you turned the camera. Make sure if it has digital zoom you have it turned off/disabled. Don't ever use digital zoom, it should have never even been invented, lol. You can always zoom in when you edit. Maybe take a couple pics zoomed out a little more? I like to take ones with my kids/family in almost all the pics since just pics of animals at the zoo I can download but pics with your kids in bring back memories of being there! Hope this helps!

Too funny. I was thinking the Cinci zoo. I guess we all relate back to our own experiences. BTW... I am originally from KY. I grew up in Ashland, KY (Cinci was the closest big city) and after college, I lived in Louisville. Also, I got some great pics last year at the aquarium in Covington, KY.

sorry but i think the majority are a little out of fiocus and a little too tight in the photo. when you shoot a face sideways, you need to leave a little room for them to breathe whether it is a person or animal. And, yes, the giraffe might have looked a lot better if you turned the camera to take a vertical shot.

so i guess white tigers aren't all that rare after all :rotfl: plus i think the toledo zoo might have a white lion anyway( it said something about seigfreid and roy and i kept wondering if it was the one that bit which ever guy it was) so now i'm totally confused :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

oh well enjoyed the pics anyway :rolleyes1 :lmao: and OP, don't know if you ever heard of the rule of thirds? for composition you can divide your area in 3 equally spaced vertical and 3 equally spaced horizontal lines and try to get the focal point of your subject at the intersection of one set of those lines.. picture number 3 ,the cat's eye would be pretty close to that rule, leopard's head would be too, laying down tiger next to leopard would be just a tad to the left, you get the picture( haha no pun intended)...that way the pictures aren't static...(course sometimes rules being meant to be broken :teeth: )
