I am hoping aussies who have visited Disneyland before can help me with this one, we are heading to the US for a month, and our first stop on the trip is Disneyland. I was wondering if anyone knows the nearest place to Disneyland that I can get my mobile phone sorted out? Last year I landed in Vegas and went to a T-mobile store and it was all very easy. We won't have a car at Disney, so we're happy to take a cab/bus to get there :) thanks!

We always head to the nearest Walgreens, Publix or Walmart.

Before we had iphones we used to just purchase Trac phones (throw away mobiles) with credit as a bundle. They are still available but now we just get sim cards for the iphones from Travel sim. I think they are Melbourne based and shipping was registered free.

I remember there being a whole thread on here about which one was best value and how to ensure it works before leaving home.

Good luck!

Travelgear.com.au will send you out a sim that will work when you get there.
They have ones with credit attached to the sim already.

if going straight to Disneyland, the Target down towards the Hyatt has prepaid sims, just be sure to have your phones unlocked.

I just bought a prepaid sim from travel gear. It has unlimited talk and text 500 mb on the fast connection but unlimited connection I also paid extra to be able to call unlimited international calls. It cost me $112 and I just pop it into my phone when I get there and it will work. I hope that's all I have to do. They'll email my phone number the night before and also send a text with the number.

Our travelgear sim cards just arrived last week.

Before leaving just confirm with your carrier whether your phone needs to be unlocked to use another sim card.

I just found http://www.readysim.com/shop.html heaps cheaper than the option I read about here.

For our 21 day trip, we can either get a 21 day sim card, unlimited local calls, unlimited international SMS and 1.5gb data for $45USD or 30 day sim with 2gb data for $55USD. All you do to activate it is to sms your zip code (so they can allocate a local number) when you arrive and you are all set. You can either purchase when you arrive in the US or you can get cards shipped to you first.

A month?

Perhaps the AT&T Smart Phone GoPlan might suit you.

I think Verizon or T-mobile might offer something similar.

I bought the AT&T $60 prepaid plan for my smartphone in September. I got unlimited talk and text; plus 2 GB data. And they gave me the SIM Card for free. It took about 10 - 15 minutes to set up and for me to walk out working. Your existing phone needs to be unlocked; which I assume it is as you already used it with T-Mobile last time.

AT&T and T-Mobile can be found at Main Place Mall.

I think either the ART or the Orange County Transport would get you from DLR to Main Place Mall.
