I was under the impression that the party you are trying to reach will be told that you called and they can call you.

Do calls get put directly through to the staterooms?

We have both received and made calls from our stateroom. We had a family emergency on our February 2002 cruise and DCL was marvelous in keeping us in touch with both my Mom and the hospital.

and i did not go any further than that ....
was going to spend a couple bucks just to speak to some one on Magic just to see what they where up to lol peter
