Ok. Here is the scenario. I have 2 memberships that qualify for perks and 2 that do not. In the past, I had to call DVC when I was staying on ineligible points so they could allow me to book MM. It’s the same as when you stay in a hotel and paying cash because you aren’t staying on those eligible points. I will be at WDW during one of the events, but the points I’m using aren’t eligible for perks or whatever. My question is for those who’ve done this in the last year or so as we haven’t gone to a MM event in over a year. Do I still have to call to get them to do something to allow me to register during the eligible member onsite stay period, or is the system recognizing members as eligible now regardless of which points they’re using?

I thought the system was able to acknowledge if you owned a qualifying direct purchase. Has something changed?

I was able to book MM when both -

*staying in a room booked on cash (added onto DVC trip as no room left DVC when MM was announced)

*using points from one of my resale contracts

I called last year when staying at SSR via RCI over MM events in July and Sept. In both cases the phone rep noted they "took an action." As floated above, "Why even take a chance?"

I think they can when everything is under one membership. It sounds like OP has 2, with one not being a qualified one.

This is me. I have 3 UYs and only 2 of them have a blue card so I made sure that the reservations I have for MM events are booked on membership that qualifies, even though the points themselves aren’t.

Yes. I have 4 membership numbers/UYs. 2 memberships qualify for perks, and 2 do not. As long as I called in the past prior to the onsite stay registration day, they did something to make it work. I’ve always had to call though. Unfortunately, using one of the two qualified memberships just isn’t possible this time. I would do that if I could to save making the call and/or worrying about it. :(

Thanks for all the input. :)

The solution, of course, is just to buy more points under each membership/UY to qualify for perks. 🤣

Funny, we'd wanted to put RIV on the same UY/membership as our BLT contract, which would have led to the same problem - 1 membership was qualified, one was not. Having to put RIV on the same membership as our VGF ended up "qualifying" that membership too.

I have booked MM twice when staying with cash.

The first time there was an issue, the second time there was not one.

What I was told is that DVC was given a list of ppl with cash reservations as of 5 days prior to the start of the booking window so they got invites.

All that being said, I would call. I have 2 memberships, both eligible for MM, but in january am staying in a cash room, and I will call at least a week before if not more.

I don’t think my marriage will survive any more DVC purchases. 🤣 Every time I tell DH I have something I need to talk to him about now, he says, “We’re not buying any more Disney points.” :rotfl2:

That's funny! that was my DH's reaction also! but I'm really, really considering buying some points at Riviera!
Our children are older, 35 with a DGS who will be 2 in January and adores MM, DS 23 who loves DW and DVC and our 17 DD, who also loves DW and DVC. They love our home resort AK but also love staying at the BW for easy access to HS and Epcot, and I love anything that has to do with European themes. So perfect, right?

Making it about the kids was how I convinced my DH! We added them to the deeds so as soon as I began to explain how it would benefit them, I didn’t even have to finish to get a yes! Lol

We sold our BWV points for the longer contract life of RIV. It was the only way I could get DH to agree, and we honestly didn’t want to own both resorts because the MF’s are getting up there. Our kids are in elementary school, and the 2042 expiration date would happen when I’m in my 50s. I don’t regret buying the BWV points because we used them, but we think this was the right move for our family.

When I was talking to the guide about the possible new add on on Riviera, he was very persistent in telling me to keep the same names on the RIV contract, even after I asked that I wanted to add our kids to it. We have our AK contract divided into 3 contracts but under my husband and my name only. I was confused for a minute.

Yes, well, my husband is the saver of the family, so when we bought our Ak contract he wasn't 100% on board, but I'm a spender so I told him that I was going to spend the money anyway in something else and I also told him about the kids getting the contracts later on, so he was ok with that at that time. Afterwards, he was really happy that we bought into it. So this time I told him the same thing, and about how he loves staying close to the Epcot , his favorite park!

This is what we did! Sold BWV to get RIV. But because our kids are adults, we made them members. Now we have a contract that lasts longer and they are direct owners! It was worth it for us and our family as well!

If you want it as an add on, then you have to keep it titled the same way to keep in same membership. What we did was process a gratuitous transfer for our Aug UY SSR contract to add kids names to this so the add on at RIV could be in everyone’s names,

Disney was great about it. We started the process with the title company...there are ways to do it on your own cheaper but we chose not to attempt that...and then added on via Disney for RIV.

They are holding the contract for RIV to officially close it until the names on our SSR contract are recorded. Basically, the set up RIV in our names temporarily..but won’t generate the documents until the other transfer happens...which should be in 2 weeks,

This allowed us to keep everything in the same membership, but didn’t delay us purchasing while the transfer happened!

Our guide worked closely with Membership Administration as I had talked to them first, and they explained how we could make it coordinate!

Oh , I see, thank you for explaining
who do you contact first to start the gratuitous transfer ?
I think we should do the same , one less thing to worry about
also, do you know if get a second blue card when you buy into RIV?
