PHM 2015-In Pursuit of Cupcakes While Running in Glass Slippers

Coconut yay! Oreo- meh. I am jelly over your early arrival btw. How can I cram so much in 4 days??

I am glad it worked for early...or late night arrival! I keep having to tell myself to take it easy and not want to do it all...we do have more cupcake trips!!!

Wednesday Wonderings

Debra and I were talking plans this week and we both need lots of MK-Wishes fixes as many as we can get in. Then we got to talking about other things in MK and which brought up my confession...

I HAVE NEVER SAT AND WATCHED A DISNEY PARADE

Okay let me put in a little disclaimer to that confession...I have seen electric light parade and I have seen bits and pieces of lots of the daily parades and even parts of the Halloween Parade from afar. But I have never really sat down and watched a parade like I want to. Looking at the schedule I think I have found a slight opening for which I can sit on Main Street and watch the Festival of Fantasy Parade. Wish me luck!!!

OMG - I love the parades. In fact, the worst part of my last trip (aside from all my cards being FROZEN at the expo and thereafter) was missing the new parade. One of the highlights was the Halloween Party parade.

I HAVE NEVER SAT AND WATCHED A DISNEY PARADE

You're not alone! I've been to Disney somewhere around 25-30 times, and I don't remember ever watching a parade. The way my family does Disney, when the parades start that's when we go to the "busy" rides in the hopes that most people are watching the parade. :earsboy: I always try to see fireworks while we're there, though!

There are so many things I've never done that would probably make a lot of die hard fans :faint:. lol. At Magic Kingdom, I've never had a Dole Whip, and I probably won't unless someone shares a bite with me. I'm not a huge fan of pineapple. I can think of more things in other parks that I haven't done than here. My favorite way to watch the afternoon parade is with a Mickey Ice Cream bar. :)

Hmmm, the only things I haven't done are things I've just never found the time to do because I wasn't that interested (Ellen, Figment-heard the new one wasn't very good) or because I'm afraid of getting sick (ToT, Mission Space) and then ruining a perfectly good day at Disney b/c I'm sick! ;)

That's why I haven't done ToT! I'm too afraid I'll get sick. I have done Mission Space. I do the easy side and I never get sick.

I went on ToT for the first time, by myself, last Feb to prove I could do it. It wasn't as bad as I thought. I was most concerned about losing my medal, not my lunch:) Mission space makes me nauseous and claustrophobic.
Happy to do it again after PHM with any newbies.

Cupcake Friday
As if just being Friday is not sweet enough

King Cupcake
POP: Everything POP Food Court

After throughly checking at AoA on Wednesday morning, I think we will head across the way to POP so Cammy can see this resort too. While I love the theming of POP, it just is not the resort for me, at least for this trip. POP just seems busy to me and not a place where I would be comfortable enough to rest up for the big race....MORE LIKE HEARTBREAK HOTEL. While at POP we are going to have to POP (of course with our BLUE SUEDE SHOES on) into the food court because it is NOW OR NEVER for this HUNK, a HUNK OF BURNING LOVE or we will be singing some ROCK while we sit in the JAILHOUSE of cupcake shame. May I introduce to you the king of all cupcakes at Disney...THE KING, inspired by the POP icon himself, ELVIS.

This cupcake is a tribute to the King of Rock n Roll's favorite sandwich. What you have is a super moist chocolate cupcake filled with banana custard filling. The King is frosted with whipped peanut butter frosting and decorated with crispy bits of savory candied bacon, a white chocolate POP Centry logo and chocolate drizzle.

Reviews

The cupcake was nice and moist. I would’ve liked a bit more banana custard inside, but it was nice and tasty. The peanut butter icing was to die for. You really need to like peanut butter, which I do — so I loved the icing.

It was my first time eating candied bacon. It was different. I didn’t love it, but I didn’t hate it either. I think it’s a bit of an acquired taste. I would definitely have this again.

My Thoughts?
I CAN'T HELP FALLING IN LOVE with this cupcake, in fact it gives me FEVER just thinking about it! I personally think this is a well rounded breakfast...you have fruit, bacon, peanut butter (and chocolate) and I have already decided it will be my breakfast come Wednesday morning!

Your Thoughts?

I saw the Halloween parade from afar...kicking myself for not following through with my plan to sit and watch it!

That usually is my plan too...its time to learn to slow down and enjoy the trip...after all I know that after 3 trips, I will return!

NO DOLE WHIPS...ugh. I think I like where your headed with the Mickey Bar...

Never been interested in Ellen either...did Figment and I don't get all the hype for that one. Please don't ride Forbidden Journey in Hogwarts or you will ruin your trip...ask my poor husband...he was out for the count for the day and Cammy pretty much can tell you its not for the faint stomach...I am not sure about the new Gringotts Bank...but I bet it is motion simulating too!

I guess I am lucky...does not effect me...but ask my poor husband...those bags are not props in Mission Space...they are highly functioning...collectors of your stomach content!

YAY TOT rider!

forgot to post this for National Hug a Runner Day....

Thanks cupcakes for helping to pass they last 10 months away...can't wait to hug at that finish line!

Ah, the elusive King cupcake! Here's why it's elusive...I'm a vegetarian. I'm nearly positive I would love this cupcake, I LOVE peanut butter. I love PB so much I can't eat it b/c I eat too much of it. I considered getting it and cutting off the top part where the bacon is, but it seems like too much trouble.

I thought about you when I wrote the post...all the flavors that you love except for the "sprinkles." Seems like a waste to cut the frosting off because every review I read says the frosting is AWESOME. We had a similar cupcake last year after ToT from CBR. I am still dreaming of that cupcake!

I had the King cupcake during my ToT trip in October. It was amazing! I rarely eat bacon so this was a treat and the frosting was excellent.

But, the bacon was also in the frosting, not just on top, if I remember correctly. So scraping it off would really defeat the purpose.

Tammie - this sounds amazingly awesome! And I love all the "thrill" rides. I'll be your buddy!

Karen - Disney seems so good about accomodating food for people I bet you could get a vegetarian King cupcake. :)

Is anyone doing any races next weekend? There is a 10K the Saturday after Thanksgiving that I want to do so I can try to improve my corral placement.

I'm doing a 10k on Thanksgiving. Also hoping to improve my time for corral placement.

So I've had non-existant running and working out but for a couple of good reasons
1. We had a HUGE snowstorm bringing 7feet of snow to my surrounding neighborhoods and while I didn't get the bulk of the snow I did get freezing temps and school closings for a week.
2. We took in 2 foster doggies and they have been consuming my time and energy.

So, I am hoping to unleash the treadmill soon. I told my DH he needs to start running in a couple weeks so we'll have to make a schedule so we can both train.

Hopefully this will be the week I get back on track!
