PHM 2015-In Pursuit of Cupcakes While Running in Glass Slippers

Hope I can join in as well. Love what has been written so far. I'm registered for the 5k.

In response to a later post . . . ALways want to have the crepes, but am always too full by the time I get there. Each year I have the best of intentions though.

Yes of course, WELCOME!! Tammie is currently out of the country, but I know she will be giving you a warm welcome on her return.

I *need* to try a crepe in Feb!!

My Intro!

Real Life Side ~ Hi everyone, I'm Sherry. :wave2: I'm a 41 yr old SaHM to a 15 yr old son and a 6 yr old son. My daughter (twin to the 15 yr old) passed away 8 years ago in a house fire. :sad1: She is missed every day.

I love to craft and create art. I sell my creations at a little boutique in my town and plan to branch out to online sales this fall. I'd also like to start teaching Painting Party Classes.

Disney Side ~ I've been to Disney World twice and would go so much more often if I could! I actually have 3 trips planned (2 mother/son trips and the PHM trip) but I'm not sure I can pull them all off. lol

My favorite characters are Chip & Dale, Marie, Maximus, Belle, Elsa, and Rapunzel. I have trouble picking a favorite park. How about a tie between MK, Epcot, and HS with AK being my least favorite? ;) Favorite rides and shows are Rock 'N Roller Coaster, Soarin', Mickey's Philharmagic, and Splash Mountain.

Running Side ~ I've always hated to run. Mainly because I was always told that I looked silly running. I was always tall for my age with long legs. So I became paranoid about it and hated to run, except in the fields around my house where no one could judge me. Then I had my daughter, and I loved watching her long legs run. She looked just like a little deer. It made me see myself through different eyes as well.

The past few years I've been thinking about how much fun it would be to become a runner. I've just had this pull to get out there and try it that I can't shake. So, I finally gave in in June and started walking. I'm still in the early stages of learning to run, but I'm getting there. I did my first 5K this past weekend. I walked most of it, but it was awesome. I can't wait to do another one. :yay: I have a Glow Run coming up in August, then a 10K in October so I can submit a time for the PHM.

I'm signed up for the 5K and the PHM. I can't wait till February! Well I can because I have a LOT of training to do, but when I'm out there training, I keep visualizing myself at the PHM. Best motivator ever! :)

Welcome! I am terribly sorry about the loss of your daughter. I cant even begin to imagine what kind of pain that would bring. :flower3:

PHM is a fun race. I am glad you have decided to come along for the fun this next year. Just take each day at a time in your training & don't push too hard, too fast. We are all here to support you!

I had a strawberry crepe in July and it was SO GOOD!! I highly suggest getting one!

That is the one I want to try! I did finally get a beignet when I was there for PHM in Feb. That was my sole reason for really wanting to stay at POFQ/POR. :rolleyes1

Travels going well...popping in to share a Disney find in Florence! Sure are missing my cupcake girls!

Welcome Sherry!

Tammie, looks like a fabulous trip!

I know I am very behind on this report. 2015 rates have kept me busy, but I am booked with my runner in crime for POFQ for the PHM weekend. Some other friends want me to stay the night after the half (I was planning on flying home that afternoon/evening) and said I could crash with them at BLT. So, we shall see what I decide. Having trouble staying motivated, but joining a local Biggest Loser type competition that requires you to post exercise pictures 3x a week. So no bluffing that one!

Hope all the cupcakes are doing well!

Hi Tammie!! Wow, an International check-in!

I felt inspired this past weekend! My DS is playing Pee Wee football and right next to the field is a running path. I went for a 2.5 mile run while he was at practice. I figured if he was running then so could I!

I have a 5K coming up in 3 weeks with my mom. We take that one slow but it's good race experience!

Happy birthday to my ugly/evil stepsister! While we have never met, I treasure your friendship more than I could ever tell you! Thanks for picking me up and lifting me up...thanks for having my back!!!! I wish you lots of disney dreams and I can't wait to share memories, lots of SPIKED dole whips and a sugar cupcake rush with you! And of course lots of evil laughs!!!!

For the record, Jenga pieces might be worse than Legos! My son was using them as building blocks and I stepped on one. My heel now hurts something fierce. Hopefully by tomorrow it will be better so I can hit the road, but right now it hurts to walk. Just thought all the other moms might enjoy the PSA! :rotfl:

Look what I spotted today!

First one I have seen in 3 weeks! No time to stop because we had a afternoon appointment with the Queen for a

In her garden!

Ouch! Hope it feels better soon!

Ok, first the Frost Cupcake...as adorable as it is, the cake is chocolate, so it would be a no for me.

I honestly haven't eaten too much around WS , but there are many things I *want* to try...

What *have* I tried...
Pretzel from Germany (only because we wanted a good German beer ::yes::)
Nachos from Mexico
A few items from Karamell Kuche

What I *want* to try...
I have heard the curry chicken pockets in China are good.
Crepe (either sugar or strawberry)
Croissant donut

so we are not big foodie people when it comes to the Theme Park but we love snacks and Karamell Kuche is one of them. The caramel corn and any of the soft caramel squares and of course a caramel chocolate cupcake.
I dragged my family around to find the school bread but I just was not a big fan of that.
My food knowledge of Disney is not very impressive as for when Im in the park the only thing I eat are Mickey Bars, Popcorn from the carts and giant cupcakes and cookies. Have I mentioned I have a seriously evil sweet tooth?!?!?!

Oh Debra, now I have to hunt down that Croisssant Doughnut:)

I just realized that I never really introduced myself on here, I just jumped in and asked if I could join you all (I guess I was too excited about the thought of cupcakes!)

So- here I am! I'm Megg and I live on Cape Cod with my boyfriend and our two ferrets, Bonnie and Clyde, who are the cutest little bubs ever (in my humble opinion). I've been running off and on since last year, but this past march I stumbled across a wonderful running coach and she has helped me so much that I feel like I can't even put it into words! The PHM has been in the back of my mind since I first heard of it last year, so when registration opened up this year I knew I had to at least try to get a spot- and just like that, I was in! I'm registered to run my first half marathon on Cape Cod in October, so I'm glad that I'll have some frame of reference for what the distance will feel like and all that jazz (although I don't think the Falmouth half marathon will quite match up to the PHM!)

In the meantime, I'm registered for a bunch of 5k's and this weekend I'll be running my longest distance yet- the Falmouth road race. 12,000 runners and 7 hilly miles and I couldn't be more excited! I've been dealing with a hip and hamstring issue and had to take some time off from training so I'm hoping that it doesn't flare up again during the race, but as long as I finish I'll be happy! And I'm already planning on getting a brownie sundae after I finish! :dance3:

Welcome...so sorry I am a little late getting around to the WELCOME! Betsy is from the Boston area, maybe the 2 of you can connect and share a run together! Congrats on your upcoming first half...I cant think of any place much more pretty than to do it on Cape Cod! HMMMM....brownie sundae afterwards...you will fit in great!

Welcome Sherry...I am sorry it has taken me so long to welcome you! But I am back now (almost 100%...in one of my busiest times at work but once the end of September rolls around my focus will be on this trip). Congrats on all your upcoming trips...I have to keep mine spaced out about every 18 months so that my dh does not start denying me! I would love to go back as a family, but that is just not in the cards right now (or the budget).

A designer...YAY....we are working on ideas for t-shirts and such! And crafty...

I never imagined myself as a runner...short and fluffy does not scream runners body! I still don't like to call myself one, but I am finding that I do enjoy the high I get after a run...no so much during the run! Most of us are doing the 5K & PHM...some the glass slipper. I wanted to do glass slipper, but decided at the last minute I don't need that stress in my training as of yet!

Welcome Sherry!

Talk about being behind in this PTR...ugh. I have not linked things in a long time! I need to get that done! I think you should stay Sunday night...that way you can have fun with us more! I plan to push my body till my body does not move!

YAY a race with Mom...that will be fun! I am unmotivated right now in my training, but know I need to start up soon!

I still can't believe I actually got myself registered! It seems so far away but I know it will pass by quickly...I am finally sitting for a few minutes and I want to give a quick introduction:

My Real Life Side: I am married to a wonderful man. . We have 2 boys- Ryan is 10 and Dylan is 7. Both boys play hockey and lacrosse so you can imagine how busy we are with that! I am a licensed veterinary technician, I work for a small animal practice. I love to read and scrapbook(when I can).

My Disney Side: We have been to WDW 3 times, I like to use the excuse of visiting family so we can go. . I don't have an ultimate character that I love..my husband says I am eeyore, meaning sometimes I look sad even when I'm not. Lol. I always get teary when we first walk down Main Street the first time.

My Running Side: I have run a few 5k races here and there but have never been a consistent runner. I ran my first half marathon this past May and had a great time! Believe it or not I don't love running,I can never get into that "mental" place where you just run and run. I will be running another half marathon in September and I am hoping to have a better ending time than my first race. I am beyond exciting for the PHM and am not running for a time then. My goal is to run fast enough to get some photos in and not see balloons. . I want to have enough time to see characters and enjoy the magical atmosphere.

BIG APOLOGIES for never welcoming you! I think I am pretty much eeyore too in real life...not that I am sad but I am not one of those bubbly happy people! Walking down mainstreet always gets me, I cant imagine the emotion when I run down mainstreet during the PHM...OPEN THE FLOOD GATES!

Congrats on your first half...and cant wait to hear about your next one!

Is anyone else doing the breakfasts? Or the pasta in the park?

And did I read something about Italy for dinner?

And do we have a list on page one of those doing what races and staying where?

Buffy...
I think most of us are meeting up for Via Napoli on Saturday night (afternoon)...something about hot Italian boys appeals to us more!

I need to start a list of who is running what and staying where! I will get that going this weekend!

Home safe and sound (still a little tired) from our 3 week adventure in Europe and what an adventure it was...my 2 oldest are still there until Sunday! Now that I am rested I had to hit the ground running at work...this is one of my busiest times at work (beginning of new school year and end of school year) so I am not going to be able to give 100% to this PTR until midSeptember...I am hoping though to get back into my routine of posts on Monday Motivation, Wednesday Wonderings, Cupcake Friday and Sunday Stats.

Hanging my head in shame that while I packed all my running stuff and took it to Europe, I just did not seem to get out there and run. We did so much walking that my legs were rebelling on even the thought of running. I am hoping to get back into the training mode this weekend.

Welcome to all the new cupcakes that joined in while I was off walking Europe...and to all the other cupcakes...I missed you and lets get chatting again!

Welcome back Tammie- I enjoyed the pictures of your trip on FB.. it looked so awesome!

Don't feel walk of shame. I have mentioned I have not run since June. (don't panic Karen.. I promise I will get back into it SOON to be ready for PHM... I just am a very bad, bad summer runner as the heat/humidity sucks out the willpower for me).
