I hope you do get to feeling better soon!

Hi Gina! Welcome!

Add me to the list of HP fans! I got started reading the books late, but caught up quickly. I have read the series 5 or 6 times and could just leave the movies on a loop on my TV. Good stuff!!

Helloooo and thanks!!! :wave2: So happy that you're into Potter as well! I'm going to start re-reading the series soon! Read a book, watch a movie, etc.! :cool1:

Lol this is the WISH quote from right here on the DIS! And it is true!!

My other is "I may be slow but I'm lapping everyone on the couch"

Hey neighbor!!!!

Loveee that quote!! And HAY NEIGHBOR! :goodvibes

Gina - Welcome!
Hello! And thanks! :wave2:

This is not the first time I have heard someone say they had a bad time with the attitudes/behavior of the group they went with for PHM. Can I ask those of you that had bad experiences, what they were? I ask for a few reasons, one being I want to make sure I'm not the one causing a bad experience for anyone! ;)

I traveled with my daughter and her friend but had quite a few meetups with other runner/bloggers over the weekend and they were all fantastic and amazing. Everyone was so supportive, fun, and excited, so I want to understand what went wrong for others. It makes me sad that some of you had less than amazing experiences! :worried:

I heard a few things as well from other runDisney bloggers - esp. PHM weekend! What's going on!?

Wow...I post Friday's Cupcakes and then come back this morning to several new cupcake ladies and like 5 pages to reply to! Please forgive me if I miss something.

Whew...I have the Cupcake Cast of Characters updated...I hope anyway!

Welcome Sandi, Andreah, Gina & Jenny Lou

Gina-Yay another Potter fan! I am thinking now that I have to sneak over to Universal at PHM since all of you are doing it too! Was there on the official opening back in 2010! I have to see the expanision! Personally, Karen can have Snape...I am a Ron girl! Although that would make me a cougar! :rotfl2:

Thank you so much for the strong welcome! Potter and more potter! Yes! I plan on going to Universal for 4 days park to park after the races! I'm going to go to one park for Disney and most likely will be MK! You must come with! Hahahahaha, I loveeeee Ron too! I love them all actually hahaha! Neville tho :thumbsup2

I can so relate. 2012 I did the PHM with three other girlfriends. All 3 but myself enjoyed the experience. They moaned and complained about how expensive, hot, horrible the experience was. I was so defeated. We trained together and everything. So I was preggo during 2013 but signed up 2014. No one absolutely no one wanted to run or train with me. So I really enjoyed the 2014 but I was so envious to all the buddy runners. Even had to ask a character member to take a picture of me. I text my hubby the whole entire race.

HOWEVER you ladies have me so excited for the 2015 race. Edie, I know we are both in metro Atlanta. I hope to see you at the Diva!!!

I meant I was the only one who enjoyed the experience!!

I'm so sorry to hear this! I was in Disney during the PHM weekend but didn't run! I actually didn't know anything about the races then - hahaha! :sad1:

2015 will be AWESOME! So awesome! I'm so excited I'm part of this and found this lovely group of princesses! princess:

Way to confuse me even more Jenn! :rotfl2: Debra's HM in OK has been rain delayed and now lightning delayed until 8 am!

Y'all's kids are so cut getting ready for prom! We have a few more years until we hit that point, luckily! Hope they all had a lovely time.

Happy Birthday Betsy!

:worried: To Obliterate IT Band Syndrome! :worried:

After breaking my PR on the 10K last weekend, the only one unhappy about it seems to be my left knee. And, now, I'm on a mission to eradicate IT band syndrome. I've realized that I was a little ambitious last weekend pushing my distance AND my pace all at once. And then, on Monday deciding to push my pace even MORE on my maintenance run was just plain not smart as my left leg didn't hesitate to shout at me midway through mile 2. So, its back to remedial training for me for a little bit.

I did OKAY yesterday walking 2 miles, but I'll be ramping up slowly and no races until May 22nd, which is Zoom Through the Zoo here in Memphis - a 4 miler.

So, here's the action plan:
  • Foam roller 2 - 3 times per day
  • Hip and glute strength training 2 - 3 times per week
  • Motrin + Ice + Biofreeze as needed
  • Knee band on long runs
  • New shoes - my old ones had 600+ miles on them, and the guy at Breakaway Running said that I did NOT need a stabilizing shoe this time . . . interesting!
  • But mainly . . . don't be dumb. We have 43 weeks 'till the GSC . . . start acting like it ;)

Here's my workout plan for the week:

Hope everybody has a great training week and stays safe through all the storms coming through!

Hi Everyone!:wave2:

My name is Gretchen and I clicked through to this through the Princess Half thread. I've been trying to get caught up from beginning to end, but have been failing miserably! I WILL get there though!

I'm a newbie runner currently using C25K to train to runDisney! I am running the 5K Marathon weekend with my husband while he runs the marathon solo, but what started all this is that I will be running the 5K and 10K (Lord willing and the creek don't rise!) with a friend of mine. It's a bucket list item for me, but also something I need to get healthy after babies and who could resist a good excuse for a trip to Disney! My husband just can't say no to something "health related"!:lmao:

You guys seem like a pretty fun bunch. Can I hang out with you? Pretty please with sugar on top? I sorely need all your advice, accountability and motivation while I train for these. Because when I say I'm not a runner, I am not joking.

My training plan for the week is to finish C25K week 1. (I have one day left.) And then repeat week 1 because I can't do all the running portions yet.:crazy2: Hopefully by the end I will and I'll be able to move on to week 2!

Sunday Stats
for Tammie
Week of April 14-18
Week of April 20-26

Weekly Total Mileage: 7.82 miles
April Total Mileage: 36.83 miles

Coming off of a successful 5K (Bluebell) without much pain, I was excited to start a new training week...

Monday, April 14 (NONE): No time today as I was on college visit with Ab out of town.

Tuesday, April 15 (WALK-2.62 miles/15:39 mm): I had fully intended to get both a walk and a run in today since I had taken the day off to attend to some doctor appointments (and did not get anything in on Monday), but I just did not seem to get it done. I did manage a walk, though without pain! YAY.

Attempting to change my life, different park today!

Wednesday, April 16 (WALK-2.02/15:52 mm): I was feeling good about getting out there during lunch, but about ½ mile into my lunch walk SHIN PAIN. Where did that come from really? It was all I could do to walk 2 miles. Not good. So much for trying to get an interval run in tonight!

Liliacs...OH I love the smell!

Thursday , April 17 (INTERVAL-2.08/16:01 mm): No walking at lunch today, instead I decided that it would be a good idea to rest at lunch and get an interval run in after school. So I attempted 5K Wk 7/D1 but a mile into I had to stop and walk as the shins were not having any of training again today. Ugh, time to rest…I am so not good at resting.

Squirrel, Squirrel

Monday, April 21 (WALK-1.10 mi/15:52 mm): After taking a few days off I was ready to get out there for my lunch walk. My shins had a different plan and after ½ mile I was wondering if I would make it back to school. Looks like a long rest is in order. GRRRR

Love the Easter season...

WELCOME

Gretchen-
Of course you can hang out with us, but only if it is sugar laced icing on top! :thumbsup2 Don't worry about trying to catch up, just jump in now...we can be pretty chatty on some days. Although this weekend has been strangely quiet!

I think many of us have used the exact same line with our husbands "health related!" And don't be afraid to ask questions about training we have some pretty experienced cupcakes here who will help you along our way!

As for C25K...don't worry about running the whole way through. I tried that and was failing miserably and I almost gave up. Google JEFF GALLOWAY and find out about his run/walk method! He is also the run Disney trainer...can't go wrong!
