PHM 2015-In Pursuit of Cupcakes While Running in Glass Slippers

Cupcake Crawl Friday
(As if just being Friday wasn’t sweet enough)

German Chocolate, Pina Colada, & Cherry Berry
Grand Floridian

Research this week on cupcakes at the Grand Floridian was hard; there are not a lot of reviews out there of the rest of the cupcakes located at the Gasparilla Island Grill. So with that being said, today you get 3 cupcakes. Yep, it has been a 3 cupcake Friday kind of week in my little part of the world.

German Chocolate

What a pretty cupcake this is! This light chocolate cake is crowned with a helping of German chocolate filling and chocolate buttercream icing, plus there is a bonus inside…

Cut into it, and you see that the cupcake hides a generous helping of the filling inside, too. Here is about the only review that I could find…

”While there’s nothing terribly original here, the execution is good. I
t’s a delicious, portable version of a classic.
I do wish the cake had been a bit more rich and moist, though.”

Pina Colada

This cupcake ought to make our boozing cupcake girls stand up and take notice with just the name. Sadly, no booze in this cupcake though. This vanilla cupcake is topped with a vanilla buttercream and decorated with coconut shavings.

But the real treasure is what is inside this cupcake… a center of coconut pineapple filling. Here is the only review that I could find

“I love the cake-to-stuff ratio here!
And the pineapple in the filling —
almost a mousse — is delish!”

Cherry Berry Cupcake

I could not find anything on this cupcake and only a few pictures, so I know it does exist. Analyzing the pictures to me it looks like a vanilla cupcake with maybe a cherry frosting and Mickey Sprinkles (love hidden Mickeys) and a couple of raspberries on top. Although I have seen this cupcake with green frosting, so that is really confusing. I am sure that it is filled, maybe with possibly cherry inside?

Disney Food Blog Writes…

“Both of these were way better than the s’mores cupcake,
though I liked the pina colada cupcake the best!”

So I am thinking that I love visiting the GF and sharing one of this cupcakes amongst friends along with a view of 7 Seas Lagoon and the Magic Kingdom sounds like a few moments in heaven to me, and heck maybe we could write the review of the Cherry Berry Cupcake.

Your thoughts?

Darn-it Tammie, I may love my booze, but I loath coconut! :crazy2: Besides, how can they call it a Pina colada when there's no alcohol?!?! ;) I'm also not a fan of cherry flavoring usually. I'm bummed, that's three strikes for me on Cupcake crawl Friday and here I thought ALL the cupcakes would be top on my list! Oh well, more room in my belly for booze. :lmao:

I hate coconut too!! Lol.

I went to see my chiro this morning because my knee has been feeling weird all week. I had 8 things that needed to be adjusted and my knee felt better before I go to my car! I am taking a self imposed rest day today. Eli has a music program at school then a baseball game tonight. Tomorrow is Colt's senior prom. :)

The pina colada cupcake had me at pineapple filing! Amy~ We may have to share with each other :).

So I am excited I had to share. I have been doing swagbucks and shopkick for about a month and saving Target GCs that I get from purchases ($5 GC with purchase of 3 bags of Starbucks Coffee). I was able to buy $100 in Disney GCs for $7.30!!!!! Our trip isn't until July so I cannot wait to see how much I can get by then. DH runs the apps of his phone as well so he has been earning Target GCs, in the next week or so I should be able to get another $50 gift card for $2.50! I can share more if you would like :).

Brandy~ Enjoy your rest day and Colt's Prom!

I am still battling this stomach bug, it is more this nagging nausea. I am hoping to get out for 6-7 miles tomorrow just to work my legs and keep something going. This is one annoying virus!

This boozy is chiming in too... I need to find the Margarita Cupcake- not the Pina Coloda. I also loathe coconut. Blech.

The cherry one looks OK- I mean, I'd eat it and try it.... not sure I'd be jumping up and down for it.. but out of what is at the Grand Floridian- this is probably what I'd choose.

Or I can just watch. I'll have been full from eating everyone's lemon cupcakes at Be Our Guest! :thumbsup2

Maybe we can hit the bar while they hit the bakery! Lol

Jenn - Thanks! He isn't really excited about it, but his girlfriend is. They will have fun when they get there.

If I had symptoms like yours my friends would ask me if I'm preggo. :) So I'm asking you, are you preggo? lol.

My mother asked me this last week when I had the mild stomach bug, but no, other things have indicated no and it is going around work, some of my students have had it. I had a fever and really bad body aches too so I am certain it is a virus. But just to be certain, I am taking a test tomorrow. Let me just say, we never thought we would have an only child, but life worked that way and it took us awhile to get accept that and embrace it. The thought that that could change scares us so we have done what we can to make sure it stays that way, nothing permanent though.

Your thoughts?[/SIZE]

My thoughts?? My thoughts are that I'll totally take one for the team and eat any extras left over from the coconut haters on the thread, LOL!!!

I LOVE coconut in what could probably be considered an inappropriate way. Recently started using coconut oil in my baking and my life has changed for the better.

Hey, I trained last night. I drank a bottle of wine with my mom! (Ok and my stepfater had a glass or two also..) I started........ that's what counts, right? :lmao:

Way to go! I am on hold until after allergy season. My allergy meds and alcohol don't mix.

Hellooo! Jumping in NOW!

I'm week 4 into my C25K! I am doing the GSC or just the 1/2 Marathon (not sure yet!)

HOW DO I JOIN!? I want 100% in! :grouphug:

I'm so happy to hear that there are some coconut lovers that can take one (or a few) for the team!! :thumbsup2 I kind feel bad for coconut, so many people hate it. I've tried, I have, but no matter how much I try, I just can't love you coconut. I'm sorry, you are gritty and gross. ;)

They don't mix as in...you get really bombed when you take both :bitelip: or they don't mix as in you might end up in the hospital if you take both? To me, one of those is still a viable option. :rotfl2:

Well, my little Tweedle...it's a start, but you need to work your way up to being a boozy like the big girls who can finish a bottle by themselves. Good try though, I applaud you for your effort! You'll get there! ;)

:lmao:

Hi-ya! I'm Gina! :wave2:

Real Life Side: I'm 25 and I work for a television network! I live in CT! I just got engaged to my wonderful fiance in September 2013 and we are getting married Fall 2016!

Disney Side: I have been going to Disney since 1990? or 1991? I don't remember but I have been to Disney A LOT. I have been going to Universal a lot as of recent (huge Potter fan!) but I always go to Disney while I'm there! I was at Disney in February of this year and also last year for Micky's Not So Scary Halloween Party! I love, love, LOVE Magic Kingdom! I could live at Downtown Disney and eat Earl of Sandwich and Ghirardelli's all the time too! I am running my FIRST runDisney race and I am super excited but nervous! I will be doing the GSC - but I'm still thinking about JUST doing the 1/2 Marathon! I'll decide soon!

Running Side: I am a total cupcake runner - when it comes to distance! I ran track and field from 8th grade and into college. I ran NCAA Division II - my events were: 55m hurdles, 100m hurdles, 200m, and long/triple jump. I had to quit junior year because of a back injury. I ended up having acute herniated discs in my lower back because of Triple Jump - don't let your kids do it if they plan on running track! I'm a fast sprinter and I love racing - but when it comes to distance - I loathe it! I would try to get out of long distance workouts since I was in grade school and college - yuck! I would just try to find a way out of it! I remember one track meet, my coach asked me to run the 4x400m relay and I faked a knee injury! I hate it that much, haha. I haven't been running for hm, 4 years almost! I took a major long break because of my injury and a sit down job just makes you more lazy! So, I ran/walked 3 Color Runs over the past 2 years! I loved doing it but then got back to being lazy again. Now, I am going to conquer my fear of long distance running! I will face my fear! I started with C25K and I'll work from there! I want the bling and the memories - not the time! I want to finish with a smile and new friends! More updates later on races and training!

Hi Gina!! I love seeing a fellow Potter fan! (I'm obsessed)
We're heading to Universal in 2015 and my boys and I are SO excited!

Count me in as a Potter fan as well! Love it!!!! Can't wait for the new section to open!

Another HP fan here too! :thumbsup2 I have not been to the dark side yet (why couldn't Disney have purchased HP?!?! Bad move Disney.) I hold my Potterlove in a bit though b/c it's SUPER nostalgic for me...I spent my boys younger years reading them the books aloud every night and we went to book release parties and did all things Potter...so now it makes me a wee sad b/c my boys are all big and in college! *sniff*

and Snape. That makes me sad too.

Ok, carryon. I'm done now. :lmao:
