PHM 2015-In Pursuit of Cupcakes While Running in Glass Slippers

Back to a little PHM planning. While on my recent holiday in Europe SW opened up flights for PHM time frame…so I took a little peek when I someone reminded me that they were up a week later. Needless to say I am less than thrilled with SW at the moment, but don’t have a lot of other options and heck I have a ton of points saved up in order to make the flights $0! SW is on my bad side because some law went out of date and they are no longer tied to my airport with a certain number of flights and schedules. I get that people in Dallas and Denver hate having to stop at my regional airport on their way to bigger and better places, but when you live about 6 hours from either one of these large airports it is really necessary to have convient flights! Well, SW is no longer flying to Denver as of November 1st from my airport and the flights to Dallas have been cut in half…basically early morning, midafternoon, and evening flight is all that is left. UGH…there is American and United but the costs with them are out of this world…enough whining because it won’t do any good and you just have to pull up your big girl panties at times and just make it work. Make it work is what I did for Cammy and myself….OUR FLIGHTS are booked but not without a lot of making it work as the flight that I really wanted was already booked (that is another bad thing with reduced flights, flights fill up fast). I usually like to flight stalk looking for the best deals before I book, but with the best option already gone I did not think I could wait (also trying to get rid of my OCD planning ways). Plus the fact that SW really has not had a lot of great deals lately when it comes to flying, despite the constant ads stating all the FARE SALES…which turn out to be for some airport you have never heard of from your airport that no one has ever heard of.

Here is how I made it work… Cammy and I will leave Tuesday night to fly to Dallas and then get a hotel room near Love Field overnight. Then on Wednesday morning we will take the EARLIEST flight to Orlando at 6:05 am, which is a direct flight and arrive in Orlando at 9:30…giving us a pretty full day of fun at WDW! Our return is a little bit more complicated as I had to book 2 separate flights in order to maximize our time at WDW...instead of having to leave at 8:00 am. This of course means that we will be limited to ONLY CARRY on bags for the trip and there will be no time to pick up bags and recheck in for our last flight. We leave Orlando at 4:10 pm, make a plane change in Houston and fly to Dallas arriving at 8:00 pm. Our second flight will then leave Dallas at 9:05 pm for home.

Cupcake Friday
(As if just being Friday was not sweet enough)

Peanut Butter Cupcake
Contemporary - Contempo Cafe

We have explored the cupcakes of MK, GF, and POLY…time to ride that monorail loop over to the Contemporary Resort for another treasure trove of cupcakes to share and drool over until we can have the real thing…

Peanut Butter Cupcake

One look at this cupcake and you know exactly what you are getting. That wonderful combination of peanut butter and chocolate. The icing is a light milk chocolate icing, that according to the Pixie Dust Girl was "the most perfect icing I'd ever tasted. It wasn’t too light (like whipped cream icing, I can’t stand that) and it wasn’t too heavy." The icing is coated with some chocolate shavings and topped off with a mini Reeses Peanut Butter Cup.

Inside you will find a moist devil's food cake with a filling that was basically what you would find inside of a Reese’s cup, but yet more like a cheesecake. When eating this cupcake, you need to get a perfect bite of all 3 layers...icing, cake, and filling!

Here are a few reviews...

Listen, yall. THAT CUPCAKE IS A GIFT FROM THE HEAVENS.. OH MY WOW. I mean, just, WOW. It was absolutely delicious. HOP A FLIGHT TO DISNEY RIGHT NOW AND GO GET A CHOCOLATE PEANUT BUTTER CUP CUPCAKE AT THE CONTEMPO CAFE!!! DO YOU HEAR ME? GO NOW!!!! DO NOT PASS GO, DO NOT COLLECT 100 DOLLARS (unless that’s how much it would cost for the flight), AND GET YOUR HINEY MOVING TOWARDS THE MONORAIL, STAT! THIS IS NOT A DRILL, SOLDIER.

While this cupcake doesn’t rival the wonderfulness of the Main Street Bakery chocolate peanut butter cupcake or the Boardwalk Bakery Chocolate Peanut Butter Cupcake, it is a good option if you’re hanging out in the Contemporary Resort.

My thoughts...I love chocolate and peanut butter...and this one looks a little tamer than the one back Main Street Bakery...and I already know what I am getting at Board Walk Bakery...so maybe I will try this one at the Contemporary.

Your thoughts????

Hello everyone! I love running and I love cupcakes, so I am very interested in following this thread!

This cupcake looks loads better than the PB one at MK. I am not a huge PB/Chocolate fan in baked items but I will admit this looks amazing.

:thumbsup2

I'm back after a long time away...we've been at Disney World!!

I will catch up soon and don my cheerleading skirt and pom poms to cheer you all on :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

I have a trip report started if anyone is interested. It's in my signature.

We tried a few cupcakes on our trip, and I didn't manage to get pictures of any except the ones from BOG, which you've all probably seen a million times.:sad:

From WL we had:
1)Strawberry Lemonade. verdict = YUM!! Strawberry frosting, lemonade cream center, big glazed strawberry on top.
2)Plain vanilla. verdict = Just a vanilla cupcake. Good but basic.
3)Chocolate caramel. verdict = Eh. The chocolate cake part was tasty, but I think they had just taken it from the freezer and it was still cold...the caramel center was a solid lump. The frosting was just ok.
4)S'mores. verdict = do yourself a favor and EAT THIS CUPCAKE. The cake part was delicious, loved the toasted marshmallow topping, and the bonus of tiny hidden chocolate bar rectangles inside was a treat.

From BOG we had:
1)The Master's Cupcake. verdict = yum! I'd eat this again. The cake part was good, and I don't care for chocolate cake. The gray stuff was awesome, of course.
2)The strawberry cupcake. verdict = also yum! I'd eat this again too!

The two winners are the strawberry lemonade and s'mores from Roaring Forks at Wilderness Lodge.

Hope everyone is doing well...I'll be reading through and catching up probably Monday when the kids are back in school :grouphug:

Welcome back to our travelers! Tammie - loved your photos from your transatlantic checkin!

I am one of those freaks that doesn't like peanut butter desserts - it's a source of great disappointment to my DH. I still make him peanut butter pie for his birthday, though. More for him:)

Like the sounds of the strawberry lemonade one.

On the running side, I have been slacking and only gone to boot camp, which is BAD bc I have a hilly ten miler on the 24th - ugh!

Happy Weekend!

Welcome back Tammie!!! I'm glad you had a great trip and got home safely! I am going to have to drive about 3 hours to get to Memphis to fly to Orlando. If I fly out of Little Rock the price doubles!

Can the first day of school please hurry up and get here?!?!? I have a half marathon to train for!

I need my routine back!

I will have less time to train! Sports sports sports! Btw I bought school supplies today -- $152 with a coupon!! And that wasn't all of it. And the list said to plan on brining more each quarter- yikes!

Did that last week. Two stores and $600 later....... but that also included my two nieces since their mom is back in Montana packing up their house for the big move.

Not sure what my sports schedule will look like yet. DS13 hasn't decided if he's going to do Cross Country. I hope he does, but their practices are right after school with meets on Tuesdays and Saturdays, so it's not to bad.
I hate indoor though because all those facilities are on the other side of the state.

Yikes! I won't complain then -- hopefully the rest won't be so bad.

We did our flights too on SW and I am not really happy either. We 'had' to add on an extra day to return on Tuesday, which isn't a horrible thing, just that my DS will have to miss 2 days of school instead of 1. I knew we couldn't afford to get out on Sunday but last year we found a reasonable rate on Monday, no such luck this year. $230 for the way home P/P was NOT reasonable! But we don't have a fall trip planned this year so these should be the only 2 days of 'unexcused' absences.

My dad lives 1/2 the year in Winter Garden so the boys and I will be travelling down on Tuesday (boys have winter break) to stay with my dad. My Dh will join us on Thursday (he doesn't get as many vacation days as I do) and we all will travel to WDW on Friday.

I got a room at WLV for my dad, step-mom and boys on Friday, and DH and I will have our room Fri-Tues. Did I mention my WL came through and we are staying all nights at VWL??!!

I signed the kids up for the Kids Races on Saturday so my parents will take them to the races and we'll meet them there after the 10k. Kids are so excited but already nervous!
