PHM 2015-In Pursuit of Cupcakes While Running in Glass Slippers

I have one question. Thank you for the posting the fuel link - that was a nightmare for me at the Minnie marathon. I had only ever used water during a run before and I tried a gel that was handed out by the volunteers. It made me so sick, at the end that I crossed the finish line and just kept running past it, straight to the bathroom. What I want to know is, can't you just have a banana and some water?

Welcome aboard!!!

I pre-fuel with raisin oatmeal. I eat this almost every day so my body was used to it and I didn't want to mess around with anything new during last years race.
For during-race fuel I used Honey Stinger waffles. I used these on my longer training runs and they worked well for me. I also like the Honey Stinger gummies.

I know there is a guy here on the DIS that eats hard boiled eggs when running. Not sure how he carries them, but he does.
If a banana works for you during training runs, go for it. Personally I can't eat a banana and run, they give me terrible stomach cramps.

Finished my first 5K yesterday. Felt great. Started the C25K program in March and finished in 35:38. :cheer2:

WOOHOO!!!!!! Great job!

Once again I seem to be AWOL from my own PTR...I even missed cupcake Friday! :scared1:

I had my first interview on Friday for this new position that I am applying for...so I had been occupied with preparing for that. On Friday, I learned that I have a second interview TOMORROW NIGHT (Tuesday) at 4 pm. So I have spent most of the weekend trying to prepare for the types of questions that this interview might throw at me. It will be a lot more in depth then the last one...the last one they asked me a little more about my work experience (very pointed questions, since really they already know me), 5 leadership examples, and then 3-5 experiences that make me qualified for this position. All of it they already know about me...I was about to have a severe case of looking through the want ads and finding a new job if I did not make it past this interview. Of the 5 or so other people that have the skill set for this job knowledge wise I am the only one that applied from our group.

The interview tomorrow is really going to be pointed at instruction, assessment, and vision for this position...I AM A STRESS BASKET AT THE MOMENT.

Both sides of my brain are fueding with each other...one says there is no way that they can NOT hire you and the other side is filling me with self doubt...I am so trying to LET IT GO and pray....

I assume that after this interview they will narrow it down to 2-3 and then we have the scariest interview of all with the superintendent of the district. Who initially hired me 20+ years ago, but I am sure this interview with be nothing like that one...

You've got this!!!! Go get em!!!!!

Good luck Tammie. I'm sure you'll do fine. Just breathe and have confidence in your knowledge, skills and accomplishments!

Sorry I have been a bit MIA. End of the school year craziness.

Thanks for the well wishes cupcakes...really did not go well and I wish I could bury my head in cupcakes at moment...dang diet and I need to not use food to make me feel better!

I bet it went better than you thought. Always seems like when you think you ace something it flops and when you think you sucked you actually shined :). Hope you get good news

Tammie - I bet your interview was better than you think! Good luck!

Well, my oldest DS graduated from HS tonight. I can't seem to decide if I'm happy or sad about it. He is starting work tomorrow with my DH.

Big congratulations to the new grad! My DS graduates in two years (if God is willing) and I'm already a mess!

I completed my first official race last night - the Zoom Through the Zoo 4-miler. This is part of the "M-Town Race Series", a series of 4 races between now and July 4th. (I'll be able to participate in 3 out of the 4, which is the requirement.)

I told myself that I wouldn't run until after my upcoming trip to Chicago in two week but there was just no way that I could stick to that commitment when I felt no leg pain. I made it through the 4 miles (4.16, actually from start-line to finish-line) with no IT band pain. I really felt like I held back, especially in the last mile, in anticipation of aggravating my leg. I'm doing well this morning but, now, I really AM going to take it easy for the next two weeks. As tempted as I am to build momentum, I will resist the temptation to run on Saturday and stick to weight machines, AMT and maybe a little swimming. My next race is in 4 weeks, a 5K.

My goal was to complete in 55 minutes, a 13'45" pace, but I didn't really think that was going to happen. So, imagine my surprise when I completed in 47'15" - a pace of 11'48"! :confused3

Nike+ says I did even better! (FYI - everybody's devices measured well over 4 miles)

My best friend, Sonja, and me! (We've known each other for 26 years!)

CRUSHED my 5K PR by almost 2 full minutes . . . Whaaaat?

I'm really excited because I began to feel like my IT band issues might be a real obstacle and started getting nervous with the PHM enrollment date approaching. But, now, I think that I might REALLY be able to do this!

Happy Friday, Cupcakes!!!

Awesome!! You can definitely do it!

I like the way you think! Now there is a running food I could happily get behind. But where will I store all the little bags!?
;)

I cut luna bars in squares, as well as peanut m&m's. I have a spi belt as I find that majority of races have adequate water stops. The spi belts can hold a very amazing amount of goods and plus it does not ride up or jiggle on your waist.

I saw that last night also. Someone this morning said the picture was no longer on his IG account. I wonder if he got in trouble for letting it "leak" out. I am hoping for a Star Wars race announcement...soon.

Hopefully the ITB pain will stay away!

Or he just made it up for some reason.

I am thinking Star Wars might replace Everest Challenge next year. That way it would be run during Star Wars weekends. I can guarantee one thing, it will sell out FAST!
