Wednesday Wonderings...

What is your favorite and least favorite ride or attraction in Magic Kingdom?

Favorite
1. Philharmagic-I simply love the music! Warning...I will sing along if you are seated next to me.
2. PeopleMover-Something about the slow pace and just enjoying the views!
3. Haunted Mansion-I have no idea why...I remember Wonderful World of Disney growing up in the 70s and the ballroom scene in the introduction...and that image has stuck with me!

Least Fav...
1. Space Mountain-Way too jerky for me!
2. Stitch-Got trapped in those seats in a very uncomfortable way...nothing like being stuck that way for the entire show...and oh the smell.

ooooohhhh... That's a tough one... I would say favorites would be Pirates of the Caribbean, Splash Mountain and maybe Winnie the Pooh.

Least favorites, the Paddle boat (boring), and Stitch's Escape.

You Ladies are cracking me up with all this alcohol talk! I am not great with hard liquor, just 1 drink and I am buzzing hard for hours. DH and I got margaritas with patron ins DTD and it went straight to my head. Then I start to shop and my wallet doesn't like it when I drunk shop :rotfl:.

Those cupcake pants are hilarious!

Tammie~ Your trip to Italy sounds like it is coming together. I am with you, I am a planner! Fortunately, DH is a planner too which works out most of the time. I cannot wait to read your TR!

Today was suppose to be a 7 mile day for me, but I got so sick with a stomach virus last night and today my whole body is achy. It is going around the college, some of my students have had it. These college kids are like germ bags that just spread it to everyone, including me. Hopefully I will be back to running in a day or 2 and back to dreaming of cupcakes and slushie drinks :)

Favorites:
1. Splash Mountain
2. Thunder Mountain
3. Space Mountain
4. It's a Small World
5. Carousel
6. Jungle Cruise~ I laugh at all their stupid jokes!

Least Favorite:
1. Tea Cups ~ guaranteed to make me throw up

We went on Splash Mountain and Thunder Mountain with DD about 13 times this last trip we took in Dec. We did Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party so we walked onto each of those rides over and over again.

We got DD to agree to go on Space Mountain, she did not enjoy it and said it would awhile for her to go on it. It always makes me so disoriented after I ride it, but I remember it from when I went as a kid and it just has a special place for me :).

Love:
Peter Pan (makes me cry, I have no idea, I think I associate the music with actually BEING at Disney and in the magic)
Big Thunder (repeatedly!)
Haunted Mansion (LOVE LOVE LOVE it)

Hate:
Stitch (does anyone actually like it?)

Favorites:
Pirates
BTMRR
Space Mountain
TTA

Least Favorites:
It's A Small World
Tea Cups
Country Bears

Old picture (2009) only difference is I am a little lighter (grayer)
Real Life Side: Hello, I am Sandi. I will be 50 this year, I am the mother to a wonderful son (24) and a beautiful Romanian gypsy (19) (she was adopted from Constanta, Romania). I work full time as a medical coder in multi-practice orthopaedic group and am currently working part time on my Masters in Health Informatics at St. Louis University. Both kids as you may have guessed are big soccer players. In all my spare time I like to volunteer for some of the local races that I am not running in.
Disney Side: My first trip as an adult was 1994 when my son was 4 years old. We just fell in love with all things Disney (although I have been a Disney freak since as long as I can remember). We have been more times than I can count anymore. In 2006 we became DVC members. I was around that time we started buying annual passes every other year so we could fit in a number of trips then take a “year” off. But the way we buy them we really are only taking a few months off. Everyone asks us the typical question “Aren’t you tired of going there?” but my response is there is something new every time we go. We have been when the World of Sports hosted the MLS All Star game (my son loved meeting all his favorite players and seeing the game). We have been during the Flower and Garden Festival, the Wine and Dine Festival, Free dinning, Easter, the middle of summer, and the week of Christmas – New Years. There is always something different or new at Disney. We will be taking our 2nd cruise this year.
Running Side: My Mom and I have been walkers since I was in High School. I have never been able to run and have envied my friends and family that ran in local 5K, color runs, and mudders. When I found out about runDisney this year (how did I miss that all these years) I knew I had to start training for a Disney 5K, I knew I easily walked a 15 min/mile so I shouldn’t get swept. But the more I thought about it and the more reports I read and the more bling I saw I knew a 5K was not enough. I found a C25K group close to my house and started working out with them. I was actually running (who knew I could run). I am signed up for my first 5K sponsored by the running group for May 17. I have also found 2 10K (July and Sept) that I will be signing up for so that I can get some official times. First Disney stop is the Glass Slipper Challenge, my daughter will join me for the 10K but that is enough for her.

I am a 33 year old SAHM to 3 boys. I owned my own business until I got pregnant with #3 and I wanted to focus on my kids for a while. DH was definitely ok with that, and I’ve been doing this since 2012. It was weird and wonderful at 1st, and now I am so happy to be here for my kids every day.  Doug is my DH. He works very hard for us so that I can stay home. My boys are Coltin (18), Eli (7) and Tebow (1). I like my kids nice and spread out in age.

Disney Side: I took my 1st trip to WDW right after I graduated from HS. I won the state FBLA competition and got a free trip to the national convention which was held at the Swan, or maybe the Dolphin. I get them confused. I definitely stayed at one of them. My mom got to go with me (also for free) as my sponsor because my teachers couldn’t afford to take their kids and wouldn’t go without them. I went back for one quick trip in 2003 with Coltin and MIL. Then in 2011 we took our 1st family trip and I was hooked! I found the DISboards before that trip and learned a lot of great info and it helped make our trip fun and memorable. Favorite park – Magic Kingdom. Favorite ride – Rock N Rollercoaster. I love the Mickey ice cream bars! They taste better if you eat them while watching a parade. 

This is us as a family of 4 in 2011. It was actually Eli's 5th birthday.

Running Side: I have tried to be a runner off and on for a few years. After Tebow was born last February I really got serious about it and set some goals for myself. They have been slow in coming, but slow is better than not at all. In March I ran a local 5K and didn’t walk at all, that was one of my goals reached! My next goal was to finish a 10K, which I did in April. Now my sights are set on PHM. I originally wanted to run W&D for the course. The idea of a night race through 3 parks including the Osbourne lights sounded right up my alley. Then it sold out so quickly! I’ve always thought of myself as royalty anyway, I might as well run like a princess.

A friend took this for me crossing the finish line at my last 5K.

My favorites are the thrill rides, Rock N Rollercoaster, Big Thunder, Expedition Everest, Tower of Terror. I also really enjoy Peter Pan and the Haunted Mansion. Eli and I loved Festival of the Lion King.

I can't think of anything off the top of my head that I dislike, but I'm sure there are things that I wouldn't mind missing if time did not allow.

3) Haunted Mansion

Real Life Side: Hello, I am Sandi. I will be 50 this year, I am the mother to a wonderful son (24) and a beautiful Romanian gypsy (19) (she was adopted from Constanta, Romania).

Your daughter is beautiful! I am mommy to a beautiful little girl adopted from Beijing, China! I always like to connect with other adoptive families! :)

WL...that sounds fun! And of course you are taking at Portofino at USO!

Just write a bio and you are on the cast of characters...love having you along for the journey...
April 15th came and went and we're still slammed! I can't keep up here!

They aren't my puppies. They are two of a litter from Gold Ribbon Rescue. The foster mom lives around the corner from my office, so I went to visit and play with them yesterday. They need socialization, right? It had nothing to do with my need for "puppy breath" in this chaos.

Cupcakes - well, I'm not an icing fan AT ALL. And I'm only a cake fan when it's chocolate or coconut and guaranteed to be moist. With cupcakes, I have to take the icing off, hope there's none in the middle, and take a chance on the moistness of the cake. Seems like a lot of work, when I could just have a small piece of dark chocolate bar - ha! But I totally respect all of you ladies and your cupcakes. And I do have a "cupcake top" (aka muffin top), which I don't think any of you have! :rotfl: In all seriousness, I do love the pictures of the cupcakes. They are beautiful. So if y'all find me one single must-do, I'll be sure to try it at WDW.

Will work on my bio hopefully later today :)

My Real Life Side
Hi, I'm Andreah, from the Memphis, TN area! I'm 36 years old, enjoy my career as a Training director and have a 16 year old son. I'm going through a period of recovery and renewal in my life after my DH made his journey to heaven last September following a 5 year battle with cancer. Travel is my passion and I look forward to enjoying lots of adventures over the next couple of years as part of my recovery. I also enjoy running (obviously), graphic design, reading / listening to audiobooks (plays nicely with running) and, probably something pretty unique about me - I'm a productivity / project management enthusiast - a total geek when it comes to that sort of thing. I'm a certified Getting Things Done trainer and I've been trying to start a blog to share "life management" tips and technique. I've taken a break lately from it in an effort to relax and recover, but please feel free to check out the work in progress ("Frazzled to Fabulous" - www.frazz2fab.com).

My Disney Side
I'm just about at the point that I've lost count of all my trips to Disney World. I pretty much always have my next trip or two planned. My husband proposed to me on Main Street in front of Cinderella's Castle so, naturally, we chose to go back a year later for our Disney Fairy Tale Wedding and honeymoon! The thought of heading back to Disney World is pretty scary to me right now. It's going to be very difficult without him. I'm planning a trip this September with a few close friends. We're going to spend a couple of nights at Bonnet Creek, but not go to the parks. Then, on the morning of September 14th, the anniversary of his journey to heaven, I'm going to go by myself to the Magic Kingdom to have a moment of reflection. (Translation: I'll be the crazy crying grown-up on the bench next to the castle.) I'm going to share a Mickey ice cream bar with Brian, because I would be willing that's about all he eats in heaven - they're his absolute favorite. Then, I'm going to send a balloon up to see him. (We loved the movie UP, so balloons have been a theme in our celebrations for him.) Then, all the ladies and I are going to head over to Port Canaveral for a 4-night cruise to the Bahamas, followed by two nights at the Dolphin for Day 1 of the Food and Wine Festival at Epcot. I think that Brian is thrilled that we are planning to celebrate his life in this way.

My Running Side
I think it was 2011 when I discovered an article about the Disney Princess Half Marathon and decided that it was for me. I downloaded a book for beginning runners and started following the Jeff Galloway programs right after Memorial Day. By the end of the summer, I was up to 11.5 miles on my long runs and improving every week. It was at that point when we received the devastating news that Brian's cancer had returned and our lives were flipped out of whack again. I've continued running intermittently, but haven't been as consistent with it as I'd like to be. Then, last year, I had picked back up to a consistent schedule and Brian encouraged me to sign up for the Wine and Dine race in November. But, unfortunately, his health continued to decline and we just weren't able to make it. Now that spring has arrived, I'm dying to start a consistent running program again. I downloaded the Glass Slipper Challenge training program and I'm at the point where I can pick up with Week 6 of the program. I hope to have the opportunity to stay consistent and I'd love to complete the Princess / Tinkerbell Coast-to-Coast Challenge in 2015!
