PHM 2015-In Pursuit of Cupcakes While Running in Glass Slippers

Motivation Monday

Guess what cupcakes....15 more Mondays to get through before PHM! I don't know about you but I am stunned that it is November! But thankful that October is behind me!

Last week's training goals did not seem to go in my direction...I did manage 2 days of walking and 2 runs (1 long/1 short)...never did make it to the pool. Maybe tonight?! I am happy to report that I did have a very nice and successful long run yesterday. I managed 4.25 miles PAIN FREE and saw my pace back in the 12s! :yay::yay::yay: Have to do a little celebration because I am sure next week I will be back to whining about the darn legs! How did you do last week?

I am excited for my long run this week...doing my first virtual run...9 3/4 K...bet you can't guess why such a strange distance?! I am even thinking of completing it someplace where I have not run before, just to make it a little more fun! Stay tuned for that race report!

What are my training goals this week? Hmmm...I want 2 walks, 3 runs, and to get in the pool and work on my legs with some cross training. What are your training goals this week?

WTG Tammie!!! :cheer2:

Uh, 15 more Mondays?!?!? That is insane! :scared:

Week two of official training went great for me, these first couple weeks on the Galloway Glass Slipper Training are actually less miles than I have been running, so it's a bit of a break for me. I think my body needed it anyway and I'm glad to be following a plan and not overdoing it for once!

This week has Tuesday and Thursday with 30-45 minute runs and a long run of 5 miles on Saturday. Looking forward to it! :thumbsup2

I wish that I would follow a better plan then my own...everytime I start a plan something comes a long and derails it. I am trying right now for 2-3 mile on my short runs, 2 miles for my walks and then long runs are 5K or more...usually 1 week 5K and the following week 10K area followed by the next week a 5K...going back and forth.

I'm doing 4 miles for one of my 30-45 minute runs but the other one I'm just doing 2. Last year I really overtrained and I think it was because at the time I was convinced that I had to run a TON all the time to be able to run 13 miles. I realize now that I wasn't giving my body enough time to rest, so I'm hoping that this plan will get me where I want to but not injure me this time. I think having doing a half gives me more confidence. I was also upping my long runs every single week and this plan only goes up in miles for the long run every other week. I think that will help.

Ok, that is just BIZZARO. It changed and is correct now??

LOL...I think that would be correct cause mine says 3 and 14 days. :rotfl2: Too dang early to think this hard Karen!!!! Been up since 1:30 ugh...I hate the getting old thing! I like to sleep!

My training last week went very well. I am following the same plan as Karen with Galloway's official GSC plan. I did my two 'short' runs this week by changing up my intervals and managed to run 3 miles on each of them with the best times I've ever had (11:15 average on Tuesday & 11:09 average on Wednesday). Then on Saturday it called for 4 miles but I really needed to push my miles up so I could be more prepared for next weeks 15K. So I did 8 miles. I was pain free and that was because I kept it nice and slow. My average was 12:45 for those 8 miles.

My goals this week are to do my two runs on Tuesday & Thursday of around 2-3 miles each. Slow pacing. And then Sunday morning I have my 15K. And my goal is to not die on it. :rotfl2:

Quick check-in: I haven't been running, I did a 4 mile run 2 weeks ago that went really well but haven't run since. I have started back up with my cross-training and I know from past experience how being prepared with cross-training has made running a breeze. So, two steps back one step forward for me recently.

I'm also preparing our 'costumes'. I think we might do Princess Leia and Han Solo. She is a 'princess' right? It's hard to get my DH to agree to wearing anything but he's ok with Star Wars.

My plan for this week is to do 3 runs between 2 and 2.5 miles (that's the most PT will let me do for the time being). I'm running my first post-injury race on saturday, a 2 mile trail run. Planning on taking it nice and slow and just enjoying the run :) I'm going to be running with one of my running buddies who completed her first marathon recently and has been recovering since then so I will be in good company!

I can't believe there are only 15 mondays left! I have a few more weeks of PT and then at the end of november my coach is going to meet with me to set up a training plan for the PHM. My running group is actually doing a special group geared towards people who are running 13.1 sometime in february so the timing is perfect!

Excuse me?!?!? What?!?!?!

<insert fainting smilie here>

I have got to get my butt in gear. I have exactly zero desire to train.
If it weren't for the cupcake crawlers, I would probably bail now. I'm still toying with the idea.

Uh no bailing allowed!! You need some visualization and goals -- where's your medal from last time? Do you have any local races? You are going to do this!

VERY NICE...and I am very jealous. I would love to get in the 11s but sadly this larger body aint wanting to let go of any weight so I just work for the 12s!

I can't wait to hear about the Hot Chocolate 15K, the plan is still do this as my last big run before PHM the beginning of February! I you are not going to die cause there is chocolate at the end that you must get too!

I so need my schedule to start working out so that I can get some cross training in!!! I so understand the 2 steps forward...constant reminder to me to keep trying to put one steop in front of the other!

Yep, she has princess in her name...and if it can get you dh on board...:thumbsup2

YAY!!!! Sounds like you have a plan in place and a someone great to run with...and a nice place to run! I think I am going to make my 9 3/4 K this weekend a trail run...I need to check the weather!

My medals are on my shelf in my craft room.
I have a few runs lined up. 4.5 mile turkey trot on Thanksgiving day, a 5K 2 days after that.
And 6 virtual runs, varying from 5K to 15K, just waiting on those medals to come in.

I just can't make myself do it. I don't know why.

NO BAILING ALLOWED!

LOL Yes Ma'am!!!!

So, last week I was sick and only ran on Tuesday. :( I'm finally feeling better and went out for a short run today and went much better than I anticipated! I made Eli (8 year old) go with me. He complained and whined, but I told him it was training for WDW. :) He walked 1 mile while I ran 2.3 miles. :rotfl2: I have a 5K this weekend and am doing another 5K Color run next weekend my oldest son's girlfriend. Then I am hopefully going to do a 10K the Saturday after Thanksgiving to maybe improve my time for corral placement. We'll see how the next few weeks go before I decide that for sure.
