PHM 2015-In Pursuit of Cupcakes While Running in Glass Slippers

Hi ladies! My blister finally healed and I was able to run 2 days last week and I went out his morning with Tebow in the stroller. A few weeks ago I bought the 21 Day Fix from beachbody. If I could control my eating I think I would be losing some weight. I am doing all of the workouts though so I know I'm building strength. :)

YAY...blister healed. I hear you too about the eating....if I just figured out how to control that part! As Kafi keeps telling don't worry so much about the running get the walking mileage up!

Tammie - we have Toy story dr the Wii and Eli has never played it. :confused3

Of all the Wii games this one is my favorite along with Mario cart racing...:rolleyes1

I am very far away from my original training plan but I am going to keep pushing through and get back to my 3 day a week plan. ;)

You can do thins....

Doing a little small town drop in to check out my ticker and see if it's covered in cobwebs or fully functioning and accurate. :rotfl:

I think my countdown on my planner said 111 days to be more accurate. Both a good and bad thing...

My goodness... We are under 4 months and last time I was here I think we were at 6? or 7? :confused3

Now to catch up... again... with this report.

I think I know now why your screen name is "shocky" because I nearly die of shock every time I see you post...LOL! I have been meaning to get our race report written...but darn work and family keeps getting in my way!

Any movement yet towards dates? You are about to head into the cheapest week for flights...and SW is having a really good sale right now! We also need to figure out each part of the AKL costs and get that paid...and OH YES PARK TICKETS BY THE BEGINNING OF JANUARY so we can get them linked and make FP selections!

Wednesday Wonderings

I think I am out of theme park questions...so lets go general Disney now!

What is your favorite and least favorite character dining experience?

My favorite...oh so hard to pick out! I love Crystal Palace Breakfast (not so much the food-which is yummy but I love that before park opening ADR and getting pictures of the castle without a million photo bombers), Cinderella's Royal Table (have to eat the castle) for either lunch or dinner and love Tusker House for Breakfast (although this time around we are trying to get there for the breakfast/lunch switch over and enjoy both...love the jambo juice and corn like oatmeal).

My least favorite hands down is 1900 Park Fare Dinner. It was such a disappointment to me. The food and the total experience was AWFUL. Even though I love the bread pudding and adore the strawberry soup this is probably a place I will never return too! I also found Akerhaus somewhat of a disappointment...just rates okay for me.

Crystal Palace is our favorite, great breakfast, spacious, nice character interaction and a must do on our first morning!

We had a lot of not-so-great characters meals last trip, not sure if it's b/c they are more awkward with teens or what, but the most disappointing was the castle. The characters were "ok" but rushed, the place was so crammed, there was no space and the food was less than stellar, especially for the price paid. They couldn't barely find anything for a vegetarian to eat and it just wasn't as magical as I imagined. :confused3

My favorite character breakfast is Ohana's. I love the setting. The characters never seem rushed. The food is very good. The price is reasonable (considering other character breakfasts) & I've just always had a great experience there. 2nd would be Akesharaus (I spell it my way! and pronounce it my way! ) Not so much for the character interaction but the FOOD. Yum. Too bad it's so pricy.

Least favorite... um... probably Chef Mickey's. Mostly due to the crazy, hectic feeling you get there. We've only ever done dinner though... so maybe breakfast is different.

My favorite character meal is Crystal Palace BF. We try to do it every trip. I have it planned for February and am hoping I don't cancel. I know it's not my family's fav, but it's mine!

The boys favorite is Chef Mickey's. We are doing BF in Feb too. It was the only meal they both asked for so we'll go with it. I feel it's overpriced but since they are still little and still asking we'll do it.

My DHs favorite is probably Garden Grill. He enjoys the food there.

Crystal Palace is my all time favorite place to eat at WDW. Sure, there are lots of other places with fantastic food and DRINKs but something about being at CP completes the experience. I has great memories of it as a kid and love the chance to have a photo of my boys growing up with a photo with Winnie and friends. And who doesn't love Friendship Day.

I really don't care for the Garden Grill - maybe it's the food or the lighting. Then Tusker House - one and done.

Trying Akershus in February and was heeds to Park Fare but now rethinking it.

I haven't done a character meal since I was maybe 5 or 6 years old! I wanted to go to one while we're down for the PHM but the idea was vetoed :-P

I got some great news this week from PT- they let me run one mile on monday and two miles today and so far it has been pain-free! Woohoo! :)

That's great news!

All of my character meals have been as an adult. One of the bonuses of going solo is that there's no one there to veto you! I have done 1900 Park Faire and Tusker House. I liked the food better at Tusker. Actually, everything was better at Tusker, but I am a Cinderella fan, so I loved meeting all of those characters in one place too!

Race for a Cure 5K
September 27, 2015

I honestly had not intended to run “Race for a Cure” this year. Last year it was my comeback race after my sidelined injury of a stress fracture right before ToT. This year it just was not fitting in my training plans, you know the best laid plans. Well my plans did not got as I had wanted in August and September and I found myself struggling to get any runs in thanks to my constant shin battles and trying to rest them. Ab’s cross country team always runs this race as a week off from normal high school competition, so when she was registering I decided to go ahead and run under her team with some other parents (although not in the competitive race but the “fun” run).

Race day came and first run of the day was Ab’s. She had a really good run and came in 2nd in her age division and 3rd female overall in the competitive 5K. After her race it was the plan for her to wait around until I finished my 5K and walk around the merchant fair, but I convinced her to run with me as a cool down. I hate starting a race, especially “run” ones like this race as you get behind people who are strictly out there for the fun along with little kids and strollers and even a few pets.

But I love these “fun” races because I don’t feel the pressure of coming in last…I know there will be people behind me and I can run/walk my type of race! Remember Ab was going to cool down with me…..

HA, that lasted about 4 blocks and she has enough of my run/walk intervals and decided just to take a slow jog and went out ahead of me. The course for our local Race for the Cure runs through an older neighborhood with beautiful large Victorian homes.

I love how people decorate for the race and are outside in their yards cheering the runners on! I managed to get through the 5K pretty much pain free, but I was very disappointed in my time…it was almost 3 minutes slower than my personal best back in July (but what do you expect from little training in August and September). No cupcakes to celebrate at the end of this race instead we found

Which I made Ab only let me have one and then hide the rest of the package for herself. Trying so hard to stick to some kind of diet…so I can eat lots of cupcakes at PHM…LOL!

Love that tradition!!!

Been lucky I guess with CRT...always had good interactions! The dessert has been awesome...:thumbsup2

Not sure why I have never tried Ohana...oh yeah...I know why Kona is next door...must have Tonga toast!

Least favorite... um... probably Chef Mickey's. Mostly due to the crazy, hectic feeling you get there. We've only ever done dinner though... so maybe breakfast is different.

Chef Mickey's is awesome for breakfast...my children's favorite!

I hope you don't cancel too!

Another place I have not eaten...:confused3

Thinking of adding Akershus...I had planned a princess meal but just had not fit until now....:rolleyes1 Park Fare...don't rethink because of me. I truly believe everyone should make their own judgements...we just had bad seating, therefore bad interactions...food was not what I expected and the smell was awful.

I haven't done a character meal since I was maybe 5 or 6 years old! I wanted to go to one while we're down for the PHM but the idea was vetoed :-P

Need to do some overruling!!!!

I think that is why I like character meals...I would not stand in line in the parks for a picture/autograph but a meal is a different story!

Cupcake Friday
(As if Just Being Friday is Not Enough Sweentess)

Lemon Blast Cupcake
Epcot-Sunshine Seasons

Today we finish up with our last cupcake from Epcot Future World with apparently a cupcake that does not get its “proper due” and from reports often hidden on the bottom shelf of the bakery case among the croissants, cookies, and muffins….the Lemon Blast Cupcake (one which Nicole will appreciate).

What you have is a pretty basic vanilla cupcake from all appearance with a VERY thin layer of vanilla frosting decorated with a zig-zaggy, criss-cross-y pattern of lemon (!) drizzled over the top. The piped lemon gel topping is a little stringy and a little sticky…which seems physically well gross (reminds me of day old), but apparently it tastes fine. Definitely not a master piece of Disney creative arts to look at, BUT

It’s what’s inside that counts, RIGHT? Inside this little misfit gem is a lovely center of lemon curd. Which allows the cupcake to live up to its name of LEMON BLAST.

My Thoughts?
I really need to check out Sunshine Seasons on my next trip to Epcot instead of just passing by on my way to Soarin…this might be enough just to get me there.

Your Thoughts?

Hmmm, well, I might have a bite from my Tweedles (if she can part with a bite!) :p but it's not doing anything for me this morning.

Tammie, we eat at Sunshine seasons a lot and they have such a large selection for dessert, I think I've only gotten a cupcake there once! *gasp*

I'm kind of the same with cupcakes as I am booze...lots of talk but not much action. :lmao: I'm gonna change that with the crawl, although I'm not sure I'll ever eat cupcakes again afterwards with how many I'm planning on! :crazy2:

How can our tickers be at 4 months and 24 days??? :confused3 I thought it was in 3 months & something???

When you first get on DIS for the day they don't seem to update but if you look now after you login once they are right!?! I need to change mine...Cammy and I are using disney math and logic to justify an earlier arrival...;)

I am the same way...lots of talk and little action! Hey but we might cave to cupcake pressure and REALLY have a good time!!!!!

Wednesday Wonderings: the only character meals I have done are Chef Mickey's and Tusker House. Eli refuses to meet any girls, but that is changing for PHM! I plan to get my bib signed, but I don't have a character meal planned.

As for the cupcake, no thanks! I do plan to hit up Sunshine Seasons this trip.

I might do all lemon - or lemon drops - depending on how I feel and when I meet up with the group.

Might be having to send my BIB with you since I did not do a princess meal...not I am upset with myself for not doing it...so I am stalking dining reservations!

YUM! :)

But that really doesn't surprise anyone, does it?!

Right? Are we going to have the lemon conversation again? lol

IT ADDS A BIT OF EXCITEMENT TO WATCH ALL YOU LEMON HATERS DO THIS...

Nicole and I will share...
