Phineas and Ferb at a local Mexican food restaurant? Really?

So, my son came home from preschool today with a flyer in his backpack for a local Mexican food restaurant. The flyer says "Come eat and play with Phineas, Ferb and Perry," and then at the bottom it says, "Free face painting." This restaurant has had Dora and Diego nights in the past, which were very popular, and I know that the characters of Dora and Diego were there. Being a little skeptical, since Phineas and Ferb are not even at Disney World yet, I called the restaurant, and they told me that there would indeed be costumed characters there of Phineas, Ferb and Perry. I'm still finding it hard to believe-- I'm wondering if there was a language barrier problem when I called. If the characters will really be there, we might try to go (my boys are BEGGING me!), but I don't want to show up and have no characters, and just face painting of Phineas and the gang. Is anyone aware of Phineas and Ferb chracters available for the public to rent or buy? What do you guys think? Should we brave the crowds and try to "meet" them? --Katie

I agree with a PP that they will be there, just don't expect disney quality costumes/characters.

Back in the early 90's when Barney was HUGE there were several Barney meet & greets at different places, even in my town of less than 12k

Our local Big Boy would host character meals. As others have said, it's an employee in a bad costume. We saw Elmo, who was so dirty with fur falling out, that DH and I still refer to as the meet and greet with crackhead Elmo. My DS just decided that they were in costumes and not real like the characters at Disney. YMMV

There are always people in creepy character costumes walking around Times Square offering to take photos with tourists (for a small "donation," of course). All last summer there was a really dirty looking Elmo with a 1920s gangster style hat on. I started referring to him as "Pimp Elmo" lol.

Perhaps someone will be dressed in costume, but I cannot imagine in a million years that Disney would be in the least bit pleased. I'd think it naive of a company to advertise such an event involving anything copyrighted by Disney.

I would want to go just to see what the costumes look like, it could be interesting :rotfl:

We went to see Curious George awhile back at our local library and it was a great Curious George costume but ended up being my cousin inside! She worked at the library and unknown to us had volunteered. It was very funny.

We've also met a great Dora at a local event and a dirty terrifying Clifford.

Go with low expectations and you'll have fun.

That Ferb mask is a little creepy!! ODS came down with a fever this afternoon, so we may not get to go after all. We'll see how he's feeling tomorrow. --Katie

My children would run away screaming from that Ferb costume! :scared1:

If you go you'll have to let us know how it was. I hope your little one will feel better soon.
