Philly Distance Run - Updated List as of 9/07

Sounds great Howard. I'll be there!

Terri

(Now I'm off to the beach! See you all tomorrow!)

I just wanted to pop in and wish everyone good luck this weekend.
I so wish I was going to be there with you all. I miss you guys!

Have fun above everything & GO WISH, GO! :cheer2:

:surfweb: FROM THE PHILLY MARATHON THREAD - TALKING ABOUT THIS SUNDAY'S PDR...... I didn’t have any set plans for meeting up with the group on Sunday morning. However, since I am seeing most of them for lunch/dinner on Saturday, I’ll suggest we meet near the Rocky statue at the bottom of the Art Museum steps pre and post race to say hello, give some high 5’s, and the usual pre and post race encouragement only WISHers seem to know how to do.

Sound good everyone?

If I'm not waiting in line at the port o pottie, I'll be there pre race. Post race, I can hang out for a bit but will have to make a fairly quick exit becasue DH and I have plans to meet up with some of his family members for lunch.

Hey Y'all (speaking in my best Paula Deen voice) -

Hope you have a good time in Philly. I'll be thinking about you guys. Wish I could be there! I finally canceled a hotel room I had reserved just in case.... :(

Here's hoping everyone has a good race and a good time!

GO WISH TEAM!

I'll be seeing some of ya'll in a couple of months at the RnR San Antonio event! Yee Haw!

Hey everyone - I kind of lost track of this thread but I'll be at the PDR on Sunday ready, willing, and hopefully able. Nursing a bit of a knee/hip problem that resulted from running the DL 1/2 3 weeks ago.

I wish I could catch up with you in Chinatown but unfortunately I have other commitments. I will be in town around 9AM tomorrow to pick up my bib. Let me know if you'll be around the Expo when it opens at 9AM.

I agree with Cindy in that I'd love to catch up with WISH people before and after the race. Last year I met up with people at the Art Museum steps (near Rocky) and that seemed to work. I won't be sporting the WISH yellow gear but if one of you has a WISH shirt I'm sure the rest can find you.

For those not familiar with Philly here's where we could meet up: http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&ll=39.964833,-75.17913&spn=0.000471,0.001202&t=h&z=20&layer=c&cbll=39.964644,-75.179275&panoid=3dZTkIgb-dFDYfLhKIzULA&cbp=1,308.34639988848943,,1,-0.22320120017427275

GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!

Lou

Lou (or anyone else who knows) - how far from the start is the Rocky statue?
Pretty close to the start and finish. Depending on your corral you may be right next to it. You can't miss the Art Museum and the famous steps. If you are about to run/jog/walk up the steps all you have to do is look to your right and there is Rocky. Instead of hanging out by Rocky just hang near the bottom of the steps on the Rocky side. Checking in before the weekend. Looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow at the expo & lunch/dinner and then on Sunday pre & post race. Meeting up Sunday at the bottom of the steps of the Art Museum near the Rocky Statue sounds good.

Kristi & Susie - We'll miss you this weekend. :sad1: Wish it had worked out that you would have been able to be here.

Hi Karen! Cam and I are looking forward to catching up with you guys tomorrow.

I ran my last run prior to the distance run tonight. Here are my stats:

Miles: 5.02
Time: 48:14
Pace: 9:37

Splits:
9:24
9:47
9:30
9:35
9:45

As you can probably tell, I tried to take it easy. Most osf my recent runs have been in the 8's with a few sub-8's thrown in for kicks.

I am looking forward to meeting a few of you and seeing everyone else I've had the true pleasure of meeting in the past. Have a great night!

Howard

Hi! I just returned home from the PDR Expo and dinner with some WISHers! Kira and her HD, Anne and Bob, Terri, Karen and John, Cindy and Matt, and my DW, Cam.

The Expo was weak, but not too bad. I've seen most of the vendors at other Expos. I thought it was funny to see Bath Fitter, Dial-a Number matresses and Power Windows and Siding there though. :confused3 Maybe they were there from a previous Expo and just stayed? :confused3

We had dinner in Chinatown at a place called David's something another.

I am going to turn in early. We will be meeting most if the crew (and Lou) near Rocky tomorrow at about 7 AM (+/-). The race starts at 7:45 AM.

I am looking forward to it, but I am having some pre-race nerves as usual. I will do my best, come what may. I am prepared and ready for the challenge.

Have a great night! I will post results tomorrow night!

Howard

Love these up-to-the-minute reports, Howard! I think you must be the official WISH Philly Distance communications director. :teeth: :thumbsup2

We'll be rooting for all of ya'll tomorrow. :cheer2:

Sorry we couldn't make the dinner, but we'll try to meet up with people at Rocky in the am.

Hey all,

I just got back from the PDR. It was great to meet all the WISHers...even though I missed the Chinatown dinner yesterday.

I managed to finish in 1:43:35 which is a new PR for me by about 2.5 minutes! Not bad considering I was barely able to climb steps this week due to a knee and hip injury I got at the DL 1/2 a few weeks ago. Despite warnings not to run by my RN DW I decided to run PDR because I couldn't pass up this race and the beautiful weather.

Glad I ran. I feel great right now and I'm looking forward to catching up with most of you again in a few months at the Philly Marathon!

Here's a shot of everyone after the race...

I'm sorry I missed you guys afterwards! I looked for WiSHers at the "W" sign, but my timing must have been off. Anyway, I had my family with me and needed to go.

It was a beautiful day for a race, wasn't it! I finished in 2:26:57 - a PR since it was my first half marathon! I was aiming to finish under 2:30 so I am very happy with my time. I'll give a more detailed report later, but let me just say now that a half marathon is hard work. I was prepared, and felt good most of the time, but it really took everything I had.

I really like the medal, and it was a great accomplishment. From being a non-runner to a half marathon in 9 1/2 months - WOO HOO! :cool1: :cool1:

It was great to see everyone. What a nice race and scenic course. I beat my DL time by 10 min and finished in 2:49, so I'm pretty pleased. I also feel a heck of a lot better than I did after that race, maybe the days of walking through the parks beforehand and the 12 hours after the race have something to do with the difference in how my legs feel:confused3

I look forward to seeing everybody at the next race. My DH is twisting my arm to do the Philly Half in Nov...

Hi everyone! I had a great race and it was great to meet Lou (and family), Kira, Cindy, Matt, Jen and Butch (her DH) and to see Pat, Anne, Robert, Karen, John, and Terri again.

Here are the official times from the Live results (chip time):

Splits:
10 km: 51:19 Pace: 8:16
10 Miles: 1:23:30 Pace: 8:21
Finish: 1:50:08 Pace: 8:25:cool1:

This are my Garmin times:

Time: 1:51:07 (I turned it off late and guessed)
Miles: 13.31
Pace: 8:30

Splits:
8:10
8:08
7:57
7:58
8:08
8:11
8:18
8:22
8:52
8:23
8:23
8:38
8:44
7:56

I printed out a wrist bracelet last night for pacing and set my goal to be 1:50. I missed it by only 8 seconds!!!

Overall, I BEAT MY PR in a half marathon by: 9 minutes, 25 seconds!!!! :cool1: :cheer2: :dance3: :yay: :woohoo: :thumbsup2

I pushed the pace the whole race and passed a lot of people during the run. I made only two running water stops and never stopped along the course. I am not only very happy with my results and new PR, but I am happy with my effort today. I am feeling he affects of my efforts this evening, but it is well worth it.

Next up: Marine Corps Marathon, then Philly. :thumbsup2

GREAT JOB WISHers!!!! I am proud of all of your hard work today!!! Have a good night!

It was great seeing everbody this weekend. Hope those of you that came to Chinatown Dinner enjoyed it. The race was good. I finished in 3:16:17. I'm nothing if not consistent. All of my 1/2 times have been between 3:10-3:20.
Now if I can be consistent in my training, maybe those times will come down a little. The weather was great, although a little more cloud cover would have been nice. It got hot at times in the sun.

Congrats to Howard, Lou and Kira for the PR's! Great job! :cool1: :cool1:

I played tag with Karen & John for part of the race and with Bob (Anne's DH) for another part. The medal is really cool. Cam took pics, Pat got another state completed, Anne's back with the WISH-ers and we got to meet Cindy and her husband Matt and Jen and her husband (whose name escapes me right now).

All in all, I think everyone had a good day.

Terri

I look forward to seeing everybody at the next race. My DH is twisting my arm to do the Philly Half in Nov...

Oh DW, *Twist*, *twist*, *twist*.... everybody's doing it!

Beautiful weather and scenery today. Fortunately most of the marathon was in the shade, because Jen and I forgot our sun block (eek!). I was also very thrilled to set a new PR of 2:04:24 for me (an improvement of 9 minutes), but man am i feeling it....

It was great running into WISHers afterward!

Butch

Glad you posted Butch. Sorry I couldn't remember your name.
Congrats on your PR!
I'm feeling it, too (and I didn't set a PR). Boy am I stiff.

Terri
