Come on Susie! It will be fun!! Plus if you do Philly and San Antonio you get the bonus Dynamic Duo medal!!

I've already made my travel plans...I arrive in Philly early Friday morning and leave Sunday afternoon, so it will be short but sweet:thumbsup2

Hi guys!!! Can I join you? I haven't actually registered yet... but training started today. I am using John Bingham's Marathoning For Mortals training plan. I ran 30 mins. today... 2.5 miles! It felt good, I haven't run probably since the WDW half in Jan, lol...

My DH is going to run too. He ran it last year too. I didn't train so I just cheered. It was fun to cheer, but I was super disappointed that I didn't run it. I must admit that I never properly trained for the 2 halfs that I have run (both in Disney) I vow to not quit on my training program this time! I do not want to disappoint myself again!
Anyway... we live about 40 miles north of philly... so no need for a hotel.
I look forward to running with you all if you'll have me...

Hi everyone - I am still thinking and working on this one. It would be my first 1/2........and I am so excited over the thought of it. BUT, I have not been running due to having a lump removed from my breast in mid May. It just seems as though everything that could happen DID............but hey I have started back at it..........but the HEAT - OMG is bad:confused3

Anyway, if I can get myself going again --- I am going to do it. I bought an elliptical so I am hoping to use that on days I do not run.

So put me down as a "maybe" ;)

Are we going to keep track of our training here? I rode on the bike at the gym for 30 mins tonight...10 miles! I have never been on it before... and I am 35 lbs overweight! I hopped off the thing and just about fell over, lol. My legs were so wobbly, mostly my butt and inner thighs. I must have been a sight to see! I was trying to walk all normal like nothing was wrong but I kept tripping... over nothing! lol...

What training plan is everyone else following?

Just popping in to say, WOW!! What a great group we have doing Philly!!! :cool1: I really hope that DH and I will be able to make this. The plane tickets were purchased way back before all of the price hikes and family crisis..so I don't want to lose out! We have started training..however sporadically it is..:rotfl2: We've followed MfM for 3 years now. :lovestruc I'm a back of the pack walker, DH does the run/walk program. I once had visions of improving my speed, my foot injuries have shelved that plan. Now, I'm just glad that I can participate!!: goodvibes

Just wanted to share that for those of us that haven't signed up for the PDR yet... I just received an email with another discount code.

FIRECRACKER

The entey fee is $55 and it expires on tuesday july 8th...

Hi everyone, there is yet another WISHer running this race.

ME!

I found a discount code for $15 that is still working if anyone still needs to register. Send me a PM and I'll gladly send it to you.

I am looking forward to seeing everyone there and participating in whatever fun activities or get togethers there may be.

That's great, Howard! I've added you to our list.

Terri

Terri - please drop me & Chad off the list. :sad1:
I am not really trained and we really should be saving $$$ right now.

Hopefully, we can do this one next year!

Terri - Can you please add me to the list:banana: ? I'll also be staying at the Hampton Inn.

Anne - I REALLY hope you and DH are able to go:hug: . With my knee being iffy, I may be at the back of the pack with you. I may also be bringing a good friend who will be walking most of the race as well:thumbsup2 .

Susie - Run Philly, Run Philly:cheer2: !! It is walker friendly and if nothing else you'll have lots of fun with WISH friends:hug: .

Kristi - :sad1: Sorry you and Chad won't be able to make it. Hope to see you guys in January:yay: .

Happy training to all:cool1: .

Sara - you've been added! Glad you can make it.

Kristi - I took you and Chad off the list.:sad2: Bummer. But I totally understand about needing to save money.

We've got a good group so far. Anyone else?

Terri

Hey guys! I'm bumping this up to see how everyone is doing getting ready for this race. I am very excited, and looking forward to seeing you all there.

I am at the part of my training where I am stretching my mileage almost every week. I am planning a 6 mile run on Tuesday, and then a 7 miler next weekend. I'm a little bit nervous about it - these will be my longest distances so far. I'll check back in and let you know how it went.

How is everyone else doing?

Hi All!

I'm getting excited about Philly and adding the 10th state to my 1/2 quest. Summer is speeding by and my training has been very sporadic. I did two 1/2's in May, one is June, have two in August, but that is about all I've got....not exactly the best way to go....I really need to settle back into my MfM routine!

It looks like we are going to have a great group in Philly and I am looking forward to seeing a little bit of the city.

Take care!!

I'm also looking forward to the race and meeting some of WISH people. Not too worried about the distance as I am training for MCM and Philly and my training already has me running LR's of 14+ miles. I ran the PDR course last Sunday. It's such a nice course.

Hopefully the weather is as nice this year as it was last year. The weather is the only thing that worries me about this race. We've had a hot summer here in Philly so far.

Good luck to everyone training for the PDR!!

Lou

OK - I did my 6-miler today (along Forbidden Drive for those of you from the area!), and I felt really good! I'm a little bit tired now. I can tell it took something out of me.

Once I nail my 7-mile run on Sunday I think I'll start to really feel like I can do this. I've felt like I'd plateaued for a while at 4-5 miles, and it has taken something to break out of that.

Am I the only WISHer doing this race as their first Half Marathon? Most of you seem pretty experienced!

I'm bumping this thread up again since the race is NEXT month:scared1: .

How's everyone's training goingpopcorn:: ? Does anyone want to start discussing the possibility of a WISH meet:grouphug: ?

Anne - Will you and DH be able to make it to Philly:hug: ?

Kira - How did your LR go:yay: ?

As for training, I did a 7 mi LR this past weekend in 1:12:27. I am following a training plan but not really sure where I got it from:confused3 .

I hope everyone else is having lots of fun and success with their training:cheer2:
