Philly Distance Run - Updated List as of 9/07

I'm happy to know I'm not the only one aching all over. Also, in stretching to a new distance today, I seem to have found all sorts of new places on my body to get chafing. EEK :scared1: ! At the very least, I will be shopping for a new running bra very soon. But I did manage to avoid major blisters which was something I was concerned about since my shoes were not quite broken in - I just got a couple of teeny ones.

Hmmm, Philly half in November . . . I might be able to be talked into it.

Woohooo!!!! I'm sooo happy to see all those faces and medals!!!! Way to go Team!!!!

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Being at the PDR today to scream team was awesome! It was so great to see everyone and kudos to all our WISH finishers. Sending a huge shout out to one of my personal heroes, Anne (MaherAE) who has put her personal life on hold to help a sick family member and toughed it out today with a HUGE smile and indomitable spirit.
I have lots of pix that I am posting in a new thread.

Oh, one last thing -- it was so awesome to meet new WISHers! Kira, Cindy, Matt, Jen, Butch & Lou -- Kudos to all of you for a great race and thanks for sharing your great enthusiasm and smiles! Anne, Robert, Pat, Terri, Karen & John -- it was SOOO great to see you guys! :grouphug: Hope we'll see all of you in November!

Hi all! Quick post - Got to get some stinky clothes out of my bag and get some stuff ready for work tomorrow. I'll post more tomorrow.

It was great to meet everyone! And congrats to everyone for finishing the half (I see you all wearing medals in the picture!). Matt and I just got home. I'm sorry we couldn't stay at the race to see everyone finish, but we had plans to meet up with Matt's uncle (who lives just outside Philly) and his aunt (who is visiting from Australia).

Howard - I'm sorry we never found you at the W area after we spoke. We checked over there a couple of times before we left and our timing must have been off.

Matt and I both got PRs today! I finished in 1:58:10, which is a PR by 1 minute and 14 seconds. I really struggled in the last few miles and really had to push myself to not slow down (and I did have fairly even splits), so I am really happy with the result.

Congrats to all my Philly teammates! I had an awesome time! It was so great to see everyone. Walking with Anne was a blast and we picked up a walking buddy around mile 2, so we had a lot of fun on the slow-but-sure plan. Jim is downloading my pictures now, hopefully there will be a few good ones worth sharing.

So, Pat, do you have any pictures to share with us?

I am still thinking about the race a lot. I like the effort, the day and the company. Thanks everyone! Especially my scream team - Cam! :lovestruc

I look forward to seeing everybody at the next race. My DH is twisting my arm to do the Philly Half in Nov...

I registered the other day! The only thing I don't like is it was $100 - yikes! I wish I'd signed up sooner.

I'll see a lot of you there.

I had a great time in Philly!

It was great seeing everyone in Philly last weekend. Always fun to see old friends & meet new ones! Dinner in Chinatown was great & the race was good. It was certainly a beautiful day!

It was fun playing tag with Terri & with Bob. When Terri passed us for the last time, we then tried to keep her in our sights.....and thanks to our awesome WISH shirts we were able to still see her way up ahead. :thumbsup2

Considering how sporadic training has been, John & I did pretty well. Managed to do the first half of the race at R2/W3. Due to the pitch of the road my hip was really starting to feel it, so we then took an extended walking break. After that we picked it back up to R1/W4. With a few miles left to go the arthritis in John's knees was really making its presence known. So as not to risk further pain & longer recuperation, (especially with 2 more halfs in the next 2 months) we slowed down & strolled in the last mile or so. Ended up finishing in 3:21.

Looking forward to seeing a bunch of you at the November Philly Races. Won’t be participating, but plan to be there to scream team.
